Chapter Four

1282 Words
Lukka, Jinx and Rhett had each split apart from one another, even if Rhett did not agree nor like it, but it was the only way our team was going to cover more ground. We had full connection to each others minds, and could simply communicate if something was amiss. My wolf had taken to the Northern parts of our territory, while Lukka took the Southern parts, Jinx the Western parts and Rhett with the Eastern parts. Our pack had quite the large amount of territory and it was safer for us that way. Humans hardly came around, only when it called for hunting season and when it was hunting season, we made sure to stay clear of the humans. For most of my search, the Northern parts of our territory seemed to be unmarked by any signs of danger. No humans were scented yet. I had just stopped for a quick drink at a small stream, when Rhett had spoke in a disbelieving tone "Zarina, you're going to need to come East from where you're at. About 90 miles East. You're not going to believe what I've found. I've called Lukka and Jinx already. I'm in the trees, they can't spot us here. We'll wait for your command once you've arrived." My eyes darkened as I got his message through the mind link, a loud vicious snarl escaped from me and I made my way towards my team. So they were here, not close to the pack house, but within our territory. I hadn't patrolled this far, only the perimeter. I shook my head and forced my large paws to move and carry me faster through the forest. It took me a little bit over an hour to finally reach my team. When I had reached them, they slowly and quietly descended from their hiding place within the tree that I was standing near. Jinx came straight for me and wore a smirk on her face and spoke "I knew you were right. Rhett here is still in disbelief about his findings. So boss, what's the plan of attack. Right now, they are all sitting around talking, some are inside this huge tent. Probably talking about attack strategies. This is the only place where they are camping. Lukka and I didn't find any other trace of humans. Rhett said that he did find a trace of shifter scent mixes in with these humans though. I'm not sure what species of shifter, but whoever it is this can not be good." My lips curled over in a silent snarl, before I decided to shift back into my human form. I stood to my full height and stretched before replying "this is not right. They use shifters or any other supernatural being to lure us out. It's one of their ways to get to us. They will torture the person, until they break and then use their weakness against them. Calling us out to help the injured. At least that is what my people did. I do not know if you or any other species would help another, but my people did. What we are going to do is this, if they do in fact have another shifter within their group, we are to rescue them. No questions asked. Get them out safe and sound. Surround the campsite from all sides, wait for my signal before you three attack. Their leader will be in the tent, leave that to me. Tonight's mission is very dangerous and one of you may get hurt or will all will, just depends how trained this group is. If we all four make it out of this alive, I will be glad to answer any questions that you have about how I know so much about this. Leave no survivors, minus the shifter. Please for the sake of all others and yourself stay safe and watch each others backs. Do not ever turn your back on these monsters and do not go for the obvious kill. They want that, it's what they've been trained for. You guys really do not know how dangerous these people can be, but I vow to you that you have my protection. Just remember that." After I spoke I sent my team away to their places, while I stayed on the ground. It was getting dark now, the sun was slowly starting to set and I know that these monsters would wait til the moon was in his place, before they would make their way. It would take them hours to get the house, the party would still be in full swing. I leaned against one of the trees not far from their site and listened to their laughter and sick jokes. They would burn tonight. They would pay dearly for what they have done. I closed my eyes and sent a silent prayer towards the heavens above. I vowed to end all members of the Human Assassin Association community. I knew that this was just one of many groups, but it would be a start. One by one they would all fall, but I knew where and what I had to do. I would have to destroy their headquarters. I waited and watched for quite sometime, before I finally made the choice to end this group. I shifted into my wolf form once more and silently trotted around the campsite. I wanted to play a game, before taking them out. To rile them up a bit, get their hearts beating. I sent my game plan to my team through our special mind link and purposefully stepped on a large tree branch and snarled. I moved so silently, they never heard me, all night creatures had disappeared from sight and no sounds could be heard, except for the sounds I was purposefully making and the sounds of the humans. A vicious roar left my throat, before I howled loudly and dangerously. My teams howls followed shortly after mine. I could hear their frantic hearts pounding so fast and loudly. I lifted my muzzle towards the sky once more, but this time it was to breath in their scents, more specifically to determine if the hunters did have another shifter among them. They did. This is what made my blood boil and the fire within me to rise. It was time to act. My hackles rose as I slowly made my way into their camp and a dangerous yet low growl escaped from me, alerting them of the presence of a wolf. I came forth from the shadows and tore into the first hunter that I came across, he wasn't even aware of me, until I had my large jaws around his waist and easily tore him into two different parts. His blood had been shed, but I wasn't done. I stalked through the camp getting all the eyes of the hunters on me, but that wasn't what had stopped me. What stopped me from moving forward was who they were holding in a small animal cage, just in the middle of their camp. The fire that they had build was near the cage, giving off the glow of a small form. The small form was nothing but a small child. A small child covered in blood, dirt, grime and had matted hair. Leaves, twigs, dried blood and other things were matted through the child's hair. I couldn't determine if the child was male or female, due to how skinny they were. This is what finally broke me. A weakened child shifter. I gave the warning to my team and I narrowed my eyes on the hunters, before I roared and charged at them.
