Chapter Five

700 Words
The four of us had left the camp site in a complete and utter mess. Blood covered every inch of their camp and the bodies were in pieces, spread out over the clearing. I stood beside the frightened and silent child as I spoke clearly "take plenty of photos as evidence, take a few of their weapons as evidence as well. Burn the bodies and destroy the rest of this camp. We'll have to assemble a team later and come back to clean this mess up. Jinx I need you to carry the child back to the house and care of them. I need Rhett and Lukka to gather all the children once we return and take them inside, because what I will do, I do not want them nor need them to see. I will handle the leader of this group." Once everyone had received their assignments, we got down to business. Rhett had came over to where I was watching over our prisoner and snarled at the human, before he turned to face me; "I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for ever doubting you. When I came across the scents and later their camp site, I couldn't believe it. What's going to happen to us now?" My body had stood to it's full height, and my arms were placed behind my back as I replied to Rhett "you're forgiven, I understand where you were coming from. From what we found here today, this pack is no longer safe. I have a deep feeling that another team will be assembled and headed this way sooner rather than later. These kinds of things happen to everyone across the world. The supernatural are no longer safe, we have to prepare ourselves and always be on full alert. We will start training everyone tomorrow, those who are old enough to shift need to be in the training building. We will need to use every ounce of strength we have and use every fighting strategy we know. I'm not sure how much it'll effect the outcome of this battle, but we must try if we are to survive. We must. What what I have learned here tonight, we are the only shape-shifters left. I will NOT allow anymore of my people to die at the hands of these monsters. I can't do this anymore. Waiting and watching loved ones being torn apart and families destroyed." Mere hours later we made our way back to the pack house, I could faintly pick up the beat of the music and hear people screaming and laughing, children running around and giggling. The human who we had taken as prisoner suddenly let out a horrible cackle, his eyes wide and wild, darting around out little group. I snarled and clawed the left side of his face, Rhett growled out "would you shut up! What are you cackling like a f*****g mad man? Your life will be over soon." The human spat towards Rhett, blood flying from his mouth "my death wont matter. You beasts can kill as many of us as you'd like, but there are always more of us to finish the job. You think you outsmarted my group, think again." As I was about to knock some sense into him, horrible loud screams echoed around us. Lukka snarled and ran towards the screams, shifting within seconds. Rhett's entire demeanor changed, his eyes turned to the dangerous gold color of his wolf and his nails turned into claws. I didn't stop him from what he was about to do. It saved me the time to do it myself. I moved back a few paces and shifted into my own wolf form and tilted my head back and howled. A warming howl. I left Rhett to deal with the human as I made my way to the house. I needed to protect my people. Another howl pierced through the night air then more followed suit. My wolf form darted out from the safety of the trees and into a horrific scene. My pack was being slaughtered one by one, families were being torn apart, bodies were being mutilated. It was starting all over again.
