Chapter Six

1130 Words
My wolf was basking in the knowledge that she had taken out these monsters, and I wasn't sure how many there were or how long I was out of it. I heard my name being cried out and that was when I came to a complete stop. The head of my wolf turned towards the person who had called out to me, Adele. She was standing in her fighting uniform with a sword in her right hand and her eyes wild. She slowly made her way towards where I was standing, as she made her way over, I took the time to look around. Bodies upon bodies littered the ground, blood covered every blade of grass and every inch of the yard. Wolves, humans, monsters they were all torn apart. The sight of the scene had caused my body to shift and I stayed on my knees dumbfounded at what had happened. I continued to survey the scene before me, my vision blurring due to tears swelling in my eyes. My hands had clenched tightly into fists, my lips trembled. It happened all over again, this time was slightly different, but with the same outcome. I tried to save my people. I tried to stop this from happening, but it still did no good. I let them down again. Adele's hand came contact with my left shoulder and her soft words came from her lips "please don't go there again sister. This is not your fault. None of this is. There were two more large groups hiding within the forest, they came out of no where just as I knew you guys were coming back. Alpha Jinx was behind it all. The humans and Alpha Jinx acted like they're best friends. Waited til the other pack was here before they attacked. We need to get cleaned up and gather our members and give them all the proper burial. We'll gather the humans and burn the bodies or what's left of them. You and I need to leave this place, it's not safe anymore. You and I are now the last ones now. Come sister." The sun was just now rising above and making his way towards the sky, seeking out the perfect place to rest. Adele and I had gathered members of our pack and gave them the proper burial they all deserved. They didn't deserve to be slaughtered like animals, torn apart from like they were toys. My blood was boiling over this. The culprits who had done this, was being burned on the largest pry we could manage to put together. I stood on my balcony in my bedroom, after I had showered and scrubbed my body raw of all the blood and dirt that I was covered in. I was wearing faded washed out bootlegged jeans, black hiking boots, and a green floral angel sleeved top. I decided to leave my hair down in it's natural curls and applied very little make-up to my face. I was in no mood to get all dressed up right now, not after what had just taken place. As I glared out into the forest that was once a safe and happy place for all of us, my mind wandered off. I only came back to reality, when I felt my sister shake my shoulder gently, to get my attention. I blinked a hand-full of times and sighed, she hugged me tightly and spoke "I finished packing and gathered up all the cash that I could find in the Alpha's office, along with our passports. Have you finished packing?" My hands tightened around the railing of the balcony and I shook my head "I couldn't bring myself to do that just yet. I'm suppose to be the one who takes care of you, not the other way around. It happened all over again and I seem to have failed, yet again. Why does this keep happening?" Adele tightened her grip on my trembling form and said in a stern voice "Zarina Melbourne you listen to me right now, damn it. None of this is your fault. You didn't do anything wrong, you tried to save your people and that is all that you could have done. Tried. Sometimes you can not succeed in saving everyone, it's just the way life is at times. We have to take care of each other now, do you remember the rules that we made all those years ago? Before we were accepted into this pack." She forced me to turn and face her, and grabbed my hands in her's and held tightly. She spoke once more "rule number one is we ALWAYS trust our instincts. You've trusted your instincts and you helped your people more than you know. Rule number two is ALWAYS fight for survival and together we will. Rule number three is ALWAYS fight for your freedom. We have and will continue to fight, until each and every single one of them is gone from this planet. The last rule is NEVER SURRENDER. No matter the circumstances. We will never surrender to them. You are all that I have left. I will not lose you too. Now repeat those rules over and over, until you remember them. I'll help you pack your things. Only take what we can carry. One large suite case each and then a carry on bag." I didn't say anything, but followed my sister back into my room and started to pack my things. An hour or so later, the two of us sat in the airport in Scotland, awaiting for board our flight to America. Adele was in charge of where we were going to hide, seeing as I wasn't in the right mind set. I was grieving once again. She knew this. It wasn't the first time I was acting like this. Eventually our flight number was called and we stood. We walked over to the line of other people waiting to get aboard and stood in line, slowly moving forward. I was going to miss this place, but we couldn't return here any time soon. They would search for us here first, before looking anywhere else. It was always a given with these damn hunters. They would gather up at the last place they knew you were at and then spread out their search from there. Once we were on the plane and placed our bags in the overhead department above the seats, we took our seats and settled in for the long flight. I leaned my seat back a bit and readjusted my head, before closing my eyes and allowing myself to drift off into the darkness. My sister would awake me, once we landed to our new destination, in the meantime I was sleeping.
