“I’m sort of surprised to see the parents so enthusiastic about this,” Pastor Lloyd said, and his expression told Sophie the word “enthusiastic” could’ve been substituted for many other things, including “argumentative” or “uncooperative.” He adjusted his glasses and said, “I just hope everyone stays friendly.”
“I think they will,” Sophie said optimistically, even though she had no idea what might happen once the results were in. “The whole purpose of the Easter pageant is for the kids to have fun and remind everyone what Easter is all about. Surely, the parents will remember that.”
