Ethan was fast asleep when the sun rose the next morning. Golden light sparkled through the windows and Lilas felt like she could pull out trees. She smiled at her sleeping mate, brushed his dark hair from his forehead, and quietly sneaked out of bed. She wrapped a blanket around her shoulders and stepped outside to enjoy the sunrise. She had lived her whole life near the woods but never took a moment to appreciate it. As a child, she was drawn to it, but her parents always warned her of the dangers. She never believed in danger.
