28 - The Failures of an Alpha

1701 Words

It took every ounce of willpower in him to stay and not run after Lila. He tried to get his wolves to capture Jake, but he slipped away, killing one of Jake's men. He was only the first of many because Ethan was out for blood. If he got the chance to lay his hands on Jake, he would tear his throat out. No, he would hang him up on his hind legs and torture him, starve him, and then, when he begged for death, Ethan would deliver it. The thought of Lila in Jake’s hands made him shiver violently. It made him sick to his stomach. The only reason he knew she was still alive was that he was fairly certain that he would have felt it if she had died. But was she in pain? Was she scared? He couldn’t tell because she was too far away, and even after marking her, their mind-link only worked randomly.
