Darcie came awake slowly. She looked around, realizing she was in her room instead of the base. How did she get here? She turned her head and saw Daniel sitting on the side of her bed, watching her. Without thought, she reached for his hand. Thankful, he came home safe.
“Hi,”
“Hi, baby.” He smiled warmly at her. He had changed clothes, and his hair looked wet. How long was she out for? “How are you feeling?”
“Better.” She sat up trying to get out of bed, but Daniel placed a hand on her shoulder keeping her there.
