Ch. 13

Beep. Beep. Beep. Ana wakes to the sound of the monitor. On her right, she feels a heaviness on her hand and tingles. She knows its Jace. His breathing is steady and she knows he's asleep. It's been 2 days since the Rogue attack and she killed Duncan. Unshed tears fill her eyes. He wasn't a good guy, but he also never hurt her like the others. He admired her from a distance. Still, she did what she had to do. "You're awake!" She turns to see her father, Dr. Grey, standing in the doorway. She smiles at him, "Hi daddy." Jace sturrs beside her. He smiles at her and leans up to kiss her forehead. "How're you feeling?" He asks. "Tired." she replies. "Did you know you had powers?" Eli questioned her. Ana just shakes her head. Its because you are now fully mated Treya tells her. Ana turns to Jace and Dr. Eli, "Treya said it's because we are fully mated" Dr. Eli nods in understanding. "We have to find someone who can help you learn about your powers and teach you to control them." Jace says. Treya, what else can we do? Well little one, we can control the Wind element like you saw. We are very fast and much stronger than before. Link and Jace too. They do not have powers, but they are stronger and faster. "Are there books on the Red Wolf? I want to find out everything I can about us?" Ana asks out loud. Dr. Eli thinks for a moment. "There may be some in the history section of the library. I'm sure the Council has books as well." "We can go to the library as soon as you are released love" Jace says to Ana. Ana turns to Dr. Eli, "Dad, can I go?" Dr. Grey looks over her chart for a moment. "I don't see why not. I would like to take some blood before you go. I'll send in Julia and get your papers written up. I'll be back in a few." He kisses her forehead and leaves the room. A few minutes later, Julia comes in and takes blood from Ana and leaves again. Ana goes into the bathroom to change and when she comes out, her mom, Alpha Jay, Luna Hanna and her dad are all standing there. "Is everything alright?" she asked as she stands in front of Jace. He laces his arms around her shoulders and she leans into him. Dr. Eli looks at her, then at Jace. "I took more blood this morning because I was concerned about a test result I had gotten from the blood I had drawn when you came in a few days ago." He pauses for a moment. Fear strikes Anas heart and she begins to panic. Jace holds her tighter and she begins to calm. "Dr. Eli, what's going on?" Jace asks him in an authoritative tone. Dr. Eli sighs, "Ana, you are dying." Gasps are heard around the room. "What?" Ella squeaks out. "Eli, no that can't be right." Luna Hanna whispers. "We just got her back, Eli, you have to do something." Ella cries out. "I'm afraid I don't know what is causing it El." He turns to comfort his wife. Ana stands frozen. Dying? She feels strong arms tighten around her waist as Jaces head buries into her neck. He breathes in their mixed scent as a tear falls down Anas face. "We will figure this out love. I promise" he whispers to her as he kisses her neck. Treya, what's going on? Ana asks. I'm afraid little one, I am unsure. I can reach out of the Moon Goddess and ask. For now, go see if you and find any research on the Red Wolf. "We will figure this. We will not lose her again! I will contact the Council at once and see what they can find." she hears Alpha Jay say. "Do you know how long I have left dad?" Ana finds her voice. Eli turns to her and takes her hand, "By the way your test results are. A few months." a tear falls down his face. Ana wipes it away and wraps her arms around him. "Daddy, don't cry. We will figure it out. I found my way home. I don't intend to leave again" Eli wraps his arms tightly around her. A few moments pass when they finally pull away. Jace wraps Ana up in his arms. "Ok. Let's go to the library. Dad call the Council. I also think we should postpone the ceremony." Jace says. "No. We should do it this weekend." Ana replies. Everyone looks at her. She says with confidence, "This is my pack and I want to protect it for as long as I can." Alpha Jay grins, "You got it kiddo. We will do it this weekend." Everyone walks out of the room and gets back to what they were doing. Several hours later, Ana and Jace are still in the library. They have found books on Wind elemental powers and a name of a witch to contact. They found a small bits of the Red Wolf, but not much. Alpha Jay reached out to Elder John, head of the Council, and he agreed to gather as much as he could on the Red Wolf. He was very excited to hear there is one after so many years. He looks forward to meeting her. Alpha Jay invited him to the ceremony this weekend. Elder John also told Alpha Jay of a pack called Red Stone. Theirs was the pack known to have the last Red Wolf. Alpha Jay got the information and contacted the Alpha there. Alpha Mark and Luna Rose agreed to gather what information they had as well. Ana and Jace plan to take a trip to their pack in the morning. It is a 5 hour drive so Alpha Mark and Luna Rose offered to house them for a day or 2 as well. Jace has been looking the same paper for a half an hour and his eyes begin to close. Suddenly he feels hands wrap around his neck down to his chest. There are no sparks and he knows it is Letty. He stands up shaking her hands off of him and turns around to face her. "I've been looking everywhere for you baby. Why are you in the library?" She tries to touch him again but he moves away from her. "Letty, this is getting annoying and tiring. I have told you countless times to stay away from me. I have a mate and you need to go find yours." He tells her. Ana hears the voices and starts walking back towards them, she has found something and got caught up reading it down the history isle. "I told you I don't want anyone but you. I already found my mate and rejected him. Its you who I want and you deserve better than her." Letty says seductively. She goes to walk towards him, but can't seem to move. It feels like there's a wall in front of her and her feet won't move. She looks up at Jace, who is looking over at Ana. "Babe, stay calm." Anas eyes are glowing and she is staring at Letty. She walks up to her and stands in between Letty and Jace. "How many times does he need to reject you for you to understand that he does not want you?" Ana's eyes glow even brighter. Letty is still standing stuck. "You have been told for the last time. STAY AWAY FROM MY MATE!!!!!!" As Ana says this a gust of wind knocks Letty over. Ana sways and nearly collapses before Jace catches her. Letty runs out of the library like a frightened pup. "You ok love." Jace asks with concern. Ana looks up at him, "I'm ok. I didn't use as much as I did with Duncan." Jace helps her to her feet and spins her around to face him. He leans down and kisses her gently. Ana plays with his hair as she deepens the kiss. After a minute or two, they pull away and look into each others eyes. "You truly are amazing." Jace tells her. Ana smiles and kisses him one more time. She takes his hand and leads him out and up to their room. They spend a few hours making love before going to bed. They will be up early and heading to Red Stone pack before dawn. It is there that hopefully Ana finds the answers that's she seeks.
