CH 17

Jace and the Red Stone wolves arrive back early the next morning. They are greeted by Luna Rose and Analee. Ana runs up to Jace and jumps into his arms. He graciously embraces her and just holds her. After a few moments, he sets her down and places his hands on her face. He looks deep into her eyes and smiles. "How did it go?" Ana asks hesitantly. Jace's smile widens, "Hes dead" Anas eyes widen in shock, "Donovan is dead?" Jace nods, "I killed him myself" Relief floods over Ana. "So its really over?" "It is my love" Jace kisses the top of her head. After some time, they walk back into the Red Stone packhouse. They walk to the dining hall and sit with Anas parents, Eli and Ella. Jace retells what happened with Dononvan. Relief floods over Eli and Ella. "Now its time to look into the Red Wolf curse. Can we meet the family?" Jace asks Alpha Mark. He nods and replies, "Ive already contacted them. They are in their way." The rest of breakfast is fairly quiet. Only a few conversations are had. After breakfast, Alpha Mark, Jace, and Ana return to Alpha Marks office. They are met by a stunning older couple, that look similar to Ana. They both stand and walk over to Jace and Ana. "Its a pleasure to meet you Ms. Ana, Alpha Jace. We are Mike and Lori." Jace and Ana accept their hands and give a friendly shake. As they sit, Lori turns to Ana and says " You look a lot like him." Ana tilts her head in question, "Look like who?" "My late great grandfather, Alex." He was the last one of us who had a Red Wolf. Since him, there have not been any, until you." Lori pulls out a photo and hands it to Ana. Jace then asks, "Are you saying Ana and her family are related to you?" "Not exactly." Lori explains that the Red Wolf chose who they would be connected to. In each lifetime, when the human connected to the Red Wolf died, the wolf soul stayed until it decided on another human to care for. "That is why it had taken so long for another Red Wolf to emerge." Lori finished her story. So you chose me Treya? Ana asks her wolf. I did sweet girl, I believe that you are worthy of me and the incredible power I posess.

But the curse? I will die in a few years!

"Ana, whats Treya saying to you?" Jace gently nudges her. She turns to him. "She told me how to break the curse. Excitment filled his eyes. She'd be free. Finally free to live. "What did she say?" Lori questioned. "She told me of a flower that grew by the waterfall on the edge of the territory. She said I needed that, mixed with my mates blood and water from the lake here." Lori and Mike look over at Alpha Mark. Ana looks between them in question. "Whats wrong?" Sighing, Alpha Mark says "That flower wont bloom for another 3 months." Ana turns to him, "Then I will wait. I have to meet with Reille to learn how to control my powers. Maybe I can stay with her and once I have better control of my powers, it will be time for the flower to bloom. Ana turns to Jace, places her hands on his, "You should go home. The pack needs their Alpha." He gently grabs her face, "I go where you go. We are not that far in wolf form and if they need me, I will be there. You are my mate and I stay by your side." They smile at each other and lean on for a gently kiss. "On to our next adventure then love."
