Chapter 11: Healing Powers

1015 Words
Gavin was already waiting at the dining table when Samara came downstairs. She was clad in the same black night suit, so after seeing her, Gavin raised his lips, “You look like a teenage girl in that night suit.” Samara scrunched her brows and spoke with a naughty smile, “Are you flirting?” Gavin slightly nodded and with a sideways smile asked, “How was your meeting with Kristen?” “Oh! Well I did not meet her” she answered honestly and Gavin frowned, “Then”.  “The CEO of the company was available and he met me.” Samara continued while thinking of his face. She blinked after feeling lost but when she saw Gavin, he looked pale. “Is everything alright?” “You met Gabriel?” Gavin hesitated. Samara gulped hard after hearing his name. She lowered her eyes and nodded.  Gavin sighed hard, “Did he say anything inappropriate?” Samara slightly laughed and shook her head, “Why would he say anything inappropriate? In fact, he was really kind and agreed to help me with the interview.” She continued, “I am even planning to start working in his company if he permits. This will be a good opportunity to stay close to Kristen and get answers from her.” Gavin looked unconvinced. He looked towards Samara, “Don’t you think you are going very fast.” “I have already wasted lots of time Gavin. What other choice do I have?” “I need to get answers. Every day I feel I am failing my parents by not finding their killer.” “That person is roaming freely and I am still trying to remove this stain of being a killer.” Samara groaned with a frown. With conflicted emotions, Gavin breathed out, “Samara you are intelligent and you know what’s best for you. But, before getting into any trouble, be prepared.” Samara did not understand the real meaning behind his words, so she said without thinking, “I am already prepared Gavin.” “No you are not, Samara,” Gavin said forcefully. “You do not even know about your powers. How can you say you are prepared?” Samara raised her hands' mid-air to show her dissatisfaction, “What are you talking about?” Gavin closed his eyes and whined, “You know nothing, Samara.” He looked towards Samara with conflicted emotion for he knew Samara was not willing to accept her powers. After hesitating for a moment he continued, “Do you remember I asked you about the extent of your powers? And you simply ignored it.” Samara blinked several times. Gavin’s words were difficult for her to comprehend. “The future of every planet relies on your choices Samara. How can you be so careless?” Gavin was frustrated. She slowly sighed and looked towards Gavin, “I don’t have powers, Gavin. I am an ordinary angel.” “I told you earlier, I can make strategies and remember deep details but other than that I have no powers.” She helplessly added. Gavin chewed his lower lip hard and closed his eyes. He was blaming God for putting him in this situation. He did not know what to tell Samara and what to hide? Then, he gathered his courage and spoke, “Samara, do you remember I was severely injured by the monster’s blade.” Samara nodded and anxiously asked, “Are you okay?” She got nervous remembering what happened in her apartment. She wished Gavin good health. But, he got injured while saving her. She felt guilty for being responsible for his injury. He always helped her even though he had no relationship with her and she only brought complications in his life. Gavin understood her troubled look, so he spoke optimistically, “Yes! But how did I get okay so quickly Samara?” Samara raised her head in surprise, “You have powers, Gavin. You can kill monsters and heal yourself.” Gavin gave a solemn look to Samara. He knew she had no idea about her powers but the problem was she was unwilling to accept them. He even doubted her to be able to stand any chance of defeating Gabriel. Gavin knew Gabriel’s powers and he was strong. He was beyond any normal angels reach, but Samara was prophesied to have greater powers. Gavin had full faith in her. He wanted to shake her and tell her what she could do but he had to go slow with her. Otherwise, he was certain she would freak out.  So, he graciously spoke, “No Samara, I cannot heal myself. In fact, I should have been dead.” Samara felt as if her breath got hitched in her throat. She cared for Gavin, “Why?” she spoke with wet eyes. Gavin felt sorry for her. He never wanted to hurt her, so he hurriedly added, “Because the poison that the monster used on the weapon was lethal and it could kill the person in an hour.” “You are lying, right? You are standing in front of me without a scratch” Samara was just on the verge of crying. Gavin chuckled “I know. And I am perfectly alright but it’s all because of you. You have the healing powers, Samara. But healing others is not the only power you have.”  “What? Healing powers? You are out of your mind. And what else can I do?” Samara pouted while raising her hand's mid-air. She never thought she would have such great powers. She knew she was good in studies and always stood out in all the activities she performed. But, having powers was something she never dreamt about. She liked being ordinary. “I don’t know yet, but we will know soon. However, you cannot go to Worth Corporation every day without knowing your powers.” Gavin said fearfully. “I guess they will call me next week.” Samara slowly muttered. Gavin thought something and spoke, “We have sufficient time. I will start your training tomorrow.” Samara’s eyes widened after hearing the word training. Ever since she was a child, she hated training for anything. She wore a sad look and looked towards Gavin. “Is it necessary to train? Can’t I learn about my powers sleeping or eating? Is there any other way?” Gavin looked very serious after hearing her ramble and then he suddenly started laughing, “You are funny Samara. Be ready by 6, we will go for running.” “What? ……….No” Samara stomped her feet on the ground. “Now finish your dinner and sleep early.” Samara thought, “How can I sleep after such an eventful day?”
