Chapter 10: Gavin's Abode

1020 Words
Driving in Gavin’s Porsche, Samara was lost in her own thoughts. She watched the far-away lights that were visible from the road. She thought there might be a house or street lights. She remembered she loved watching the lights on her planet. But, there the lights were not from the houses or streets, but from fireflies. Her planet was full of fireflies, and they were her friends. Whenever she felt alone, she would talk with them for hours and share all her secrets. The mere thought of her little friends brought a sweet smile on her face. She looked towards Gavin; he was driving the car very attentively. So, she did not disturb him and kept on looking out of the window. She was thinking about Mathilde and Amelia, after coming to Earth, they were the only ones Samara could call her friends. Samara was still disappointed that she could not bring Mathilde to Gavin's house, but she was relieved that Mathilde was safe with Amelia.  After a couple of minutes, she saw little lights near the car window. She frowned and muttered incoherently under her breath. Samara was still looking outside when the light increased. With raised eyebrows and dropped jaw, she kept on staring at the light outside. Then she shook her head and opened the glass window slightly to let the little creature inside the car.  A small creature entered and came near Samara’s ear. Samara got frightened but she kept her calm and exhaled out loud. The little creature spoke, “You are special Samara”. Hearing the words of the creature, her eyes completely popped out of her sockets. “Don’t be scared. I have come to give you some important message from God which you will have to decipher on your own.” Samara gulped hard and nodded. The creature spoke in its mystic voice: “What lies ahead is an interesting tale, But, beware for you cannot fail. Trust no one it’s better to hide, Follow the one name; he is your true kind. Make no mistake in considering him a foe, However, he would turn out to be someone you would like to know. Your powers can save, but they can destroy too, Make your choice carefully, the savior is in YOU.” In the end, the creature added, “If you ever need any help just remember us and we will come for your aid Savior.” With these words, the creature disappeared. Samara kept her head low, for it was hard for her to grasp the words and its meaning. She frowned hard and tried to c***k the hidden meaning behind her little friend’s advice. She was baffled. She tried to confide in Gavin and was about to speak when she remembered the words “Trust no one it’s better to hide” Whom could she trust? She had so many questions but no one to answer them. She licked her lips and kept the advice in her mind but at the same time she remembered God’s words “Follow your instincts.” She had no other choice but to go with the flow. She trusted Gavin but still kept the information to herself. After half an hour, they reached a beautiful mansion in Victor. It was so huge; it looked more like a small city. The grey color building looked brilliant with trees on all sides, a large garden filled with an assortment of flowers, and a colossal pool with blue water which added affluence and splendor to the whole place. Even on her planet, she never saw so much grandeur. She was completely awed with the beauty of the place. Gavin shot Samara a quick glance and smiled. He knew she loved his house. He gestured her to walk towards the house entrance. When they entered, Gavin’s butler Mr. Corse greeted them and carried Samara’s luggage. With the beauty of the interior, Samara was even more taken aback. The wooden antique furniture, red silk curtains that flowed like velvet, carpets with intricate designs and art sculptures and vases that must have cost millions were breathtaking. Out of excitement, Samara asked, “How did you get all this?” Gavin simply replied with a smile, “I have certain skills.” Samara suddenly yawned and felt embarrassed. “I am sorry. I ……” she could not complete the sentence as Gavin interrupted with a smile, “You must be tired, Samara.” “Corse help Ms. Agnes to her room and make sure she feels at home.” With these words, Gavin retired to his office. After reaching her room, Samara loved the color combination-it was pure white with a touch of gold. The antique furniture in red and gold shades was subtle and added brilliance to the large room. Even the huge bed on the right side looked very enticing. Samara was excited after seeing her elegant room. Samara had a shower and wore her favorite silky black pajamas with a shirt. When she came out, she lied on the bed and recalled her meeting with the devil. She had never given a second thought to anyone, but something about Gabriel was different. She could not understand why she was thinking about him. She could still remember his eyes on her, his husky voice, the chiseled face that was specially sculpted by God himself. She did not realize how long she was lost in his thoughts when someone knocked on the door. On her permission, the person came in. It was Mr. Corse, who came to invite Samara for dinner. “Just give me 10 minutes”, she turned towards the bedside table to grab her phone and hurriedly phoned Amelia, “Hey Amelia, Is Mathilde alright?” Samara was worried about Mathilde. She knew he has gotten fond of her and usually never stays anywhere without her. She too was missing him. So she thought about calling Amelia about the sweet cat. “He is missing you but no need to worry he is fine,” Amelia replied. “Thanks, Amy, I will try to take him as soon as I get a safe place,” Samara spoke sadly. “Hey! He can stay with me for as long as you want.” Amelia added strongly. “Thanks again, Amelia. You are the best friend I could ever ask for.” Amelia was touched, she fondly replied, “It’s okay, you take care of yourself,”
