Chapter 2: Silly Bickering

2063 Words
I made a follow-up report on the last guy we had brought in, he was a werewolf and had been putting us at risk as well as scamming humans who were desperate to become a werewolf, he had taken money from them with promises of turning them, but you couldn’t turn someone, you had to be born a werewolf, without that gene there was just no way to become one. When I was done, Jax dropped the file in front of me and said, “he will definitely be at one of the bars in this city tonight, we just need to try and narrow it down to which one.“ “How do you know?” He leaned on the desk, lowering his face closer to mine and whispered, “because I’m a killer and I know how his mind works, sort of, I’m not f.ucked up like him, but it’s obvious this is like an obsession for him, a game too, he wants to dominate and have complete control over his victims, there’s no way he isn’t going to a bar tonight when he knows there will be loads of hot blondes and red heads there.” “Ok, so what do we do?” “We can look into the most likely bar he would go to. I have bets on a bar that’s on the outer edges of town, somewhere that’s easy for him to pick a girl up and get away fast and undetected. We should get Helena to go undercover and try and get him to hit on her or whatever the f***k he does to get them to leave with him.” “Why Helena, can’t I just do it?” “Rose, his favourite type of girl is blonde, slim and sexy, or a sexy red head.” “And?” He snorted a laugh. “You’re so naive sometimes, you’re a black woman,” when he saw my face he rushed, “a beautiful black woman that I love, but that fucker doesn’t, he won’t even touch a white brown haired girl.” I folded my arms and huffed, “what a dick.” “Yep, which is why we should just kill him.” “Jax,” I warned. He shrugged, “what? I’m just saying. Maybe an accident could—” “No! Don’t you dare.” “For f***k sake, fine, I won’t.” He got up and walked back to his desk, dropping heavily into the chair. I was working quietly for a while until Matilda came in. She was glaring at Jax who had one leg up on the table while he was draped lazily in the chair and clicking his pen, doing basically nothing. She went over and pushed his leg off the table. “Sit up and get back to work.” When he looked up at her, I noticed her slight blush, even our stern boss wasn’t blind to his gorgeous hot looks. “f***k me, alright, calm your t**s, love.” He sat up straighter and then said, “I’m much better at the physical kind of s.hit.” “Do all you Brits swear like sailors?” “Nah, that’s just me, darling.” She blushed hotly when he called her that and muttered for him to just work and quickly hurried away. Yep, my Jax had a foul mouth like his sister Annie, my other two mates’ weren’t anywhere near as bad. Jax wasn’t as confident in himself as the other two either, he was completely oblivious to the effect he had on women. He leaned forward with his arms on the desk, with his white muscle fit t-shirt I was able to see his tattoo sleeve, beautiful artwork of angels and demons in black and gray. He looked at the computer for all of five minutes before leaning back in the chair and looking over at me. “You want to go look around at the bars here?” “Jax, you need to finish that report.” “It’s so f.ucking boring, I’ll do it later.” “Do it now. Anyway, why are you even talking to me, are you ready to say sorry?” “f***k no, I didn’t do anything wrong.” “You called me a lazy b.itch because I wouldn’t wash up, it was your turn that day.” “It wasn’t, it was yours.” “Just admit it, Jax!” “I’m not admitting jack s.hit!” I growled in frustration and said, “you should at least say sorry for calling me a lazy b.itch.” “Ssh, Rose, I’m trying to work.” He pretended to be super busy on the computer, so I picked up the empty pot that I usually put my pens in and threw it at him. “f***k, you f.ucking psycho! Leave me alone,” he yelled. “And you think Helena is sexy, do you?” I snapped. “What?” “You said we need Helena to go undercover because he likes really sexy blondes.” He grew slightly uncomfortable and slouched lower in his chair. Shrugging, he mumbled something I didn’t catch. “What was that?” I asked. Whenever he felt awkward he tended to cover it with anger, sitting up straighter he snapped, “yes, she’s sexy so what.” “Thought you didn’t care about looks.” “I don’t dating wise, but I can still admire a sexy woman when I see one.” “d**k. Head.” I threw my pen at him next and he ducked. “Don’t f.ucking ask questions you don’t want the answer to, i.diot.” I got up, and I saw him make an ‘oh s**t’ face, I pushed him off his chair and decked him in the arm. “You’re such a f.ucking violent omega!” He yelled, trying to block me. “You’re an a.sshole lately!” “For what? I only said she was sexy, not that I want to f***k her.” “I bet you do, though.” He didn’t answer, so I hit him again, and he laughed, “alright calm the f***k down, I don’t want to f***k her.” “Liar!” “You’re so dramatic, I’m married to you for f***k’ sake, you’re my true mate, so stop acting all f.ucking jealous.” I stood up and put on a fake smile. “You’re right, anyway, it’s hardly fair of me when I think Darryl is really sexy.” “f***k off, no you don’t.” “Pfft, have you seen him! His muscles are huge, he could carry me around all day and I bet he wouldn’t get tired, and he does have a pretty face,” I sighed dreamily. Like I knew it would, it got him riled up, and he asked, “do you really find him hot?” “Yep.” “I’m never f.ucking leaving you two alone.” “You don’t care, you haven’t even had s**x with me for months, I’ve caught you three times jerking yourself off.” “No I f.ucking haven’t.” “Really? So that movie about sexy blonde pirate girls having s**x, that was just a good normal movie, huh?” “Yeah.” “And your hand down your trousers while you were watching?” He shrugged, “it just felt comfortable.” “Yeah, I bet it felt real good and comfortable,” I muttered. “Why were you watching me wank anyway?” “I wasn’t!” “You just admitted it, and I knew you were the first time you saw me.” “And you didn’t stop?” I snapped. Grinning, he answered, “no, I know you love watching me come everywhere.” I blushed hard, I knew he was trying to make me uncomfortable, so when Darryl walked by I grabbed his arm and grinned, “wow Darryl, your arms are so huge!” He smiled sexily at me and said, “not as huge as my c***k, babe.” Jax grabbed my arm and dragged me away from him. “Let’s go find that f.ucking bar.” Laughing I let him lead me out, and he practically pushed me into the car and slammed the door shut. We went to so many different bars and bickered stupidly along the way. We were in one bar when Jax said something mean, so I shoved him, and he shoved me back making me fall on to a stool and knock it over crashing to the floor with it. The barmaid asked us to leave and Jax tutted as he stepped over me, “so dramatic Rose, be more careful.” I grabbed his leg and yanked hard, making him crash to the floor, punched him in the leg, got up and ran out. He grabbed me around the waist before I could reach the car and growled in my ear, “you f.ucking do that again, you’ll be sorry.” I leaned my head against his chest to look up at him and grinned, “or what? You going to cut me up?” He pushed me away and muttered, “just get in the f.ucking car.” I tried to hide the pang of hurt, usually we would play around like this all the time, it was mine and Jax’s thing and just how we worked, it would normally lead to us kissing or more, but these days, he would do what he had just done, push me away rather than grab me and kiss me like he used to. I kept waiting for him to, but he never did. We found a bar that was the closest to the edge of town and wasn’t far from a massive forest, we thought if any bar had the easiest exit and get away, it was this one. It was called The Blue Ale, and we waited around until it was dark. “I’m starving, we may as well eat while we wait,” Jax said. I had mostly gotten over my insecurities about being a bigger woman, but lately, I’d started worrying again, I worried I wasn’t pretty enough for my mates’ and now the honeymoon period was over they weren’t as interested in me. I felt like I was the only one who still felt like I was in that honeymoon period, they were so gorgeous, and I couldn’t get enough of them, but they just didn’t seem to be reciprocating lately. At least Rom still was. I decided I was starving too, and so we went to eat at the restaurant across the road while we waited. I was enjoying my food until Jax started being annoying and knocking my arm with his. “Stop it!” I snapped. “What? I’m eating,” he replied. “You keep knocking my arm.” “I can’t help it, I’m left-handed, you should eat with your left hand anyway, better manners.” I bumped him with my body, and he did it back, making me almost knock my drink over. “You’re so rough,” I grumbled. “Don’t do it if you can’t take it,” he mumbled with a mouthful of food. I tried putting my hand on his leg thinking maybe if I made the first move it might help, but he pushed my hand away and said, “get away from me woman, you can’t push me around and then be all loving.” I gave up, I didn’t know if it was the kids, maybe some of it was, I felt so unwanted and undesirable these days, I felt like I was nothing but a frumpy mother, like I’d lost myself somewhere along the line. I didn’t feel like a woman anymore, like myself, I couldn’t explain it, but my mates’ lack of affections certainly didn’t help, that’s why I wasn’t surprised when an hour later Fenris called me to apologize and say he couldn’t do tonight with me like he’d promised. Jax looked at me when I hung up and asked, “he cancel on you again?” I nodded, and he said, “probably good anyway, we should hang around and see if this fucker shows up.”
