Kara felt like her head was going to explode, she did not know what knocked her out, but she felt like she was carrying the weight of the world if that was even possible. Kara stood up from the floor and she noticed that she was not in her chamber anymore, all she could see was white. No object nor person, just Kara in the mist of all the whiteness and brightness.
‘Hello, is anybody there?’ Kara asked the empty space. No response came and this became frustrating for her because no matter how far and wide she walked, she couldn’t manage to find a way out and then she realised that she was not paying attention. Kara remembered that in one of the books left behind by her mother there was a place known as the ‘void of memories.’
The void of memories was a portal that helped clan members and family members live inside their own memories, especially if they want to remember a dead person. As far as Kara was concerned, she did not attempt this because she really did not want to relieve the memories of her mother, it was too painful for her, and she had not master how to do all this.
Kara began to feel that she was not going to get out of here any time soon and that irritated her very much, she did not believe that she could have triggered such a spell without her knowing it. She continued to wonder through the void until she saw a figure ahead in the distance. She tried squinting her eyes so she could gain a clearer view, but she failed, so she decided to walk closer to the figure. As Kara got closer, she realised that it was no other than her mother.
Kara stood frozen in the spot, cussing at her eyes for playing treats on her. She thought that it was because of her lack of sleep and weakness from being hit by the poisonous arrow. She attempted to rub her eyes hoping she would see nothing, but the figure with her mother’s face and physic remained stationary.
‘There is no need for you to rub your eyes Kara, it is me your mother.’ The figure said but Kara shock her head in denial because she knew for certain that the dead could not cross this bridge and open the void.
‘Stop playing tricks, who the hell are you?’ Kara asked taking a step back from the figure.
‘Kara, I am sure you got past the part in the book that the dead cannot do this.’
‘Are you telling me that you are my mother, and you are alive?’ Kara asked in disbelief.
The figure looked at Kara with sad eyes and she managed to speak again, ‘It’s me, Kara. I am sorry it took me so long to contact and see you.’ The figure said as she took a step closer to Kara.
‘Just stop where you are. I am in no mood for jokes.’ Kara said clearly upset at the woman acting like her mother.
‘Kara, remember when I told you that the tattoo on your back would be your passport to the Valkyrie Kingdom?’
‘Mom? Is that really you?’ Kara asked as her mind tried to make sense of all of this.
‘Yes, it’s me love.’ She said as she came closer to Kara giving her an extremely perfect view of herself.
‘You are dead, how are you communicating with me?’ Kara asked confusingly. Her mother just stared at her nervously and sighed out loudly before responding.
‘I am not dead Kara.’ She said as she waited for Kara’s reaction.
‘Are you kidding me right now?’ Kara said as the pitch in your tone increased.
‘I am not, I have been since the day I told you to run.’
‘What! How cruel could you be? Why did you not contact me? Why are you doing so now?’ Kara shouted.
‘I am being kept where I do not want to be.’ She sighed and tried to touch her daughter, but Kara quickly avoided the touch.
‘Do you know how I have been living? I am currently about to marry a vampire because soon the entire planet will be on my arse, and this is all you can tell me?’ Kara said accusingly.
‘This is why I am contacting you because you are in danger. There is a bounty for your head I need you to hand yourself back to the Valkyrie Kingdom. I am sure your uncle can help you out. You won’t be able to take on an entire planet of supernatural beings Kara.’ Kara frowned as she listened to her mother speak nonsense. She couldn’t believe that the woman before her was her mother.
‘Where are you mom?’ Kara asked.
‘I am under Lucas’ command.’ She said. Kara looked at her mother and laughed out loud at the response.
‘Could you not escape, or did you just choose not too?’ Kara asked her mother angrily.
‘Kara just listen to me okay; the past doesn’t really matter.’ Kara looked at her mother and couldn’t find anything that used to represent her mother.
‘Release me from the place at ones.’ Kara said sternly.
‘Kara, won’t you let your mother admire you? I am sorry I couldn’t watch you grow up or watch you take your first flight in the sky. It had to be done.’ She said as she shed a tear.
‘Will you protect me if we meet as opponents in a battle?’ Kara asked her mother.
‘Opponents don’t protect each other on a battlefield Kara. I am under their command so even if I wanted to protect you I can never.’ Kara’s mother spoke sadly.
‘Then I will see you on that day, until then mother don’t contact me again. You spent years away from me and when I am in danger then you show yourself. Let me go now!’ Kara exclaimed. Her mother looked at her sadly and nodded.
‘As you wish.’ In a blink of an eye, Kara returned in her chambers and her body felt heavy as she laid on the bed. Rebecca was fixing things around her room her back facing Kara.
‘Water.’ Kara said feeling her throat dry up instantly and Rebecca turned at the sound of her voice.
‘Ms Kara, I see you are finally awake. We were beginning to think you wouldn’t wake up.’ Rebecca said.
‘What are you talking about? I was probably out for 5 to 10 minutes.’ Rebecca looked at Kara like she had lost her mind.
‘You have been in a coma for 10 whole days.’ Rebecca said.
‘What! That is impossible, there is no way that’s possible.’ Kara said in disbelief and accepting the glass of water from Rebecca.
‘I will go find his Majesty, I am certain he will be pleased to know you are awake.’ Rebecca turned away from Kara and left the room to find Damien.
