Mafia's trap

Lying in bed and thinking about her life was pretty much everything she had been doing for the past two months. She looked around and her eyes were already used to being dark. Mila sighed and got up slowly from the bed, forcing her legs to move. They felt so heavy but she continued walking to the kitchen. When she walked in, she turned on the light and again it was empty, everything was empty. The house was empty, her life was empty. Heavy sighs escaped from her mouth, from her heart and soul. She took a frame that was holding a photo from the kitchen counter and looked at it with teary eyes. Two months ago, her life turned upside down in just two hours. The call she received woke her up from bed in the middle of the night. That is one call she is going to remember for the rest of her life. She drove to the hospital not knowing what to expect there and when she arrived it was the worst. Her parents and her younger brother had a car accident. Her parents died immediately due to the injuries they got, but her little brother was still alive. She didn't know whether to cry because her parents were dead or because of the fact that her brother might not survive because he was also badly injured and doctors gave him only two percent chance for survival. She spent all night in the hallway of the hospital just to receive bad news in the morning after. When the doctor approached her and shook his head sadly, she knew he hadn't made it. She wiped off the tears that were running down her cheeks and put down the frame, walking to the fridge. It was around four o'clock in the morning. She was used to getting up early. She hasn't slept much since then and she has lost a lot of weight since, but she managed to put on some again. She also applied for a job in Italy as a maid with some agency. Expecting their call turned from days of waiting to weeks and then months waiting and still nothing. She sighed heavily while pouring milk on the cereal. The new beginning was what she needed to get out of this depression. After she sat down comfortably on the sofa she turned on the television and found her favorite TV show. She was on the fourth episode when she made pause and looked at the watch. It was almost ten o'clock. She went to the kitchen and poured herself coffee, heading back to the living room when her phone rang. She put down the cup and took her mobile phone but she almost dropped it when she saw who was calling. It was Mrs Angela from the unemployment office. Mila took a deep breath and picked up the call hoping that she had some good news for her. "Hello Mrs Angela?" She had a feeling like an entire hour passed before she answered her. "Mila, how are you? I hope you are fine because I have great news for you." Her heart started beating faster and she took a seat on the sofa because she had a feeling that she might faint. "Yes?" She could hear Angela's smile over the phone and her heart started dancing again and she felt happiness for the first time after such a long time. "I have a job for you. In Italy." She wanted to scream out from joy but instead she bit her lip and smiled. "I would love you to come to my office as soon as possible." When she hung up she jumped from the sofa and stormed to her room. She put on blue denim jeans and a white shirt paired with beige stilletos and headed out taking her purse and phone on the way out. Luckily, the traffic jam wasn't that bad and she got there in around ten minutes. When she walked into Angela's office she greeted her with a smile. "Mila, please take a seat. I just got your contract in the mail, it's printing so you can read it and sign it if you want to." She smiled at her with excitement and nodded, taking one of the copies and started reading it. TWO WEEKS LATER She looked one more time at the house and wiped the tears that rolled down her cheek. She was going to miss her home but she knew if she wanted to continue with her life she had to do that. She sighed heavily and took a seat in the car and when the taxi driver turned on the engine she looked one more time in the direction of the house and smiled sadly. Even though she was sad, she also felt happiness and she was excited about her new life and job. When she signed the contract for her new job in Rome in Italy, she finally decided to sell the family house, as well as her car. After selling all of that, together with family savings, she was a millionaire and she had no need to work ever again, but she needed some kind of distraction in her life, so she gladly accepted the maid job that Angela found for her. She didn't know for who she was going to work. They gave her the address, which she gladly gave to the taxi driver that was waiting for her at the airport. Before she took a seat in the taxi, she inhaled deeply, already mesmerized by the beauty of the country she had just landed in. She smiled and enjoyed the drive to her destination. The taxi driver told her about Rome and places she should visit and when they got to the address she gave to him he helped her to get her stuff out, leaving them in front of the big gate that was closed. She smiled, looking at the black taxi that was driving away and took a deep breath before she pressed the button on the gate that was marked as a ring.
