Mila stood there patiently when she saw one of the men in black suits approaching the gate. She supposed he was a guard or something like that.
"Good afternoon, Miss Jones."
She smiled back at him feeling relief that she didn't have to explain who she was and why she is there.
"Good afternoon. I can see you have been expecting me."
The man looked at her and nodded, opening the gate for her.
"Please, follow me, I will send someone for your stuff."
She followed the guard along a long avenue to the big house or, better to say, villa. Mesmerized by the beauty of it, she waited at the front door when the guard rang the bell. After a few moments, the doors were opened by an older lady. Mila loved her as soon as she saw her smiling face.
"Oh finally, Miss Mila. I have been waiting for you."
She gave her a smile and greeted the guard that had left them alone, so she followed the old lady inside the house and when she saw the inside of it she was fully amazed by the appearance of it.
Shiny marble floors covered the entire floor of the house, paired with white walls and cream curtains on the windows. The furniture was vintage and looked beautiful in green tones paired with yellow and black decoration throughout the entire house. Mila also loved the big vase with red roses on the small table by the big window. She took a deep breath before she looked back at the lady that brought her in. She offered her hand.
"My name is Maria, I will be showing you your tasks and your room."
Mila followed Maria and when they walked in the kitchen she looked around. It was equipped with the latest appliances and it was all in black and white marble with shiny kitchen counters. Mila looked back at Maria.
"It is so beautiful here."
Maria smiled at her and nodded.
"I know. "
She smiled, looking around and when she looked back at Mila she spoke.
"You will be helping me with the housekeeping. We have cooks and cleaners, but I needed someone to help me with other things, with housekeeping."
Mila nodded, waiting for her to continue because she wasn't really sure what she was going to do. It was as if Maria read her mind.
"I can see you are confused a bit, but don't worry. Just follow me and help me through everything, okay?"
She nodded and gave her a smile, feeling relieved.
"Let me show you your room."
Mila followed her upstairs, they went on the left through a long hallway. Maria approached the last door and when she opened it Mila lost her breath. It looked more like a small apartment than a room. She walked in and looked around and Maria kept standing in the doorway. A big bed was placed in the center of the room that was bathed with the sun's rays. On the left was the door that led to a walk-in closet and right next to it there was the door that led to a beautiful small balcony with two chairs and one small table. She walked back to the room and saw she also had a big bathroom with a bathtub and shower as well. She also had a television in one corner and a cozy armchair that had a small table next to it. When she looked back at Maria, she was smiling at her.
"I can see you like your room."
Mila raised her hands and clapped, thrilled with everything.
"I love it, it is so cozy and spacious and beautiful."
Maria winked at her and showed to follow her.
Mila followed her downstairs and when they walked into the new room she knew it was someone's office. She followed Maria and took a seat on the small sofa across the big work desk. Maria took a seat next to her.
"Now that you have seen the house and our room, we can talk about your work here."
Mila nodded and waited for Maria to continue speaking.
"We get up every day at seven o'clock, we have our coffee and breakfast. At eight o'clock we start our work. You will be learning your duties as we work, day by day."
Mila nodded, still not saying anything.
"We will be alone most of the time, but when Mr Luca is at home I expect you to stay in your room because he likes to be alone, he doesn't like to be bothered. He always calls me before his arrival, so don't worry about that. After a work day, you can use the pool. You can relax however you would like, but only when Mr Luca is not home."
Mila nodded. Maria was pretty clear.
"I am fine with that. I suppose Mr Luca is the owner."
Maria nodded and smiled with tenderness in her eyes.
"Yes, he is."
When she stood up, Mila did as well.
"You can now go and unpack your stuff, rest, do whatever you would like to. We are starting tomorrow."
When she got to her room and closed the door, she leaned on them smiling happily. She already loved all of this and she couldn't wait to start the new chapter in her new life.
