The Lycan King had passed away only a few months earlier, leaving his only son to take the title. Harrison thought that he could handle anything that life was going to throw at him, even without a mate. At the age of 22, he thought he would never find his mate. That was until he met Andrea “Andy”. Little did he know Andy was exactly who he needed to take on the world ahead of him.

Chapter 1 - Getting Ready
-Andy’s P.O.V.- “Get up!” The voice rang through my ears. I was far too familiar with the one yelling at me. My step sister, Taylor, was not who I would call a pleasant person. I rolled over on my mattress on the floor to see Taylor with her arms crossed over the front of her chest and tapping her foot at me. Her long, straight nose was scrunch up in annoyance that I wasn’t moving fast enough for her liking. “Gosh, Andy! Get Up!” Her voice screeched at me. “You need to get the laundry done, NOW!” I got up from my mattress and quickly winced my when bare feet hit the cold floor. The attic, that was my room, was terrible at holding any heat in it. Taylor stomped her feet with so much force, the floorboards rattled. I ran quickly over to my wardrobe to grab a shirt that was too large for me and a pair of jeans that had too many holes for it to look like it was a fashion choice. I knew if I didn’t get down stairs quick enough Taylor would say something to her mother and my father to get me in trouble. I practically sprinted down the stairs to grab up the laundry baskets from their rooms. I separated out the clothes to get the wash started before anyone came looking for me. The broom and mop were off to the side of the laundry room calling my name. “The guest rooms need to be prepared when you’re done with the floors.” My stepmother startled me when she came up behind me. “Yes ma’am.” I learned earlier on in my life to just agree and move on. Otherwise, she was really quick to backhand me across the face. I remember when I was about 12, I dropped a plate while taking care of the dishes after dinner. Her hand left a mark on my face for a few days after that mistake. “The house must be perfect for Taylor’s party. There will be other alphas and dignitaries that will be here.” My stepmother would be anyones definition of a perfect Luna. The pack house was well kept, meals were perfectly prepared, she has the looks of long wavy blonde hair and makeup plastered across her face. If only they knew how ugly and hateful she was underneath it all. “Yes ma’am.” I flinched as she lifted her hand like she was going to slap me, but she stopped with a laugh and walked away from me. Her and Taylor were worse when my father wasn’t around. He pretty much hid in his office, drowning himself in work and alcohol so he didn’t have to face any of us. My mom had passed away while she was giving birth to me and my father blamed me for her death. ‘If she didn’t have you, she’d still be here.’ He would yell at me sometimes when he had really been hitting the bottle. My father had married my stepmother, Violet, only a year after losing my mom. An alpha is meant to have a Luna, it keeps the pack strong; at least that’s what father would say. Violet would have definitely been my last pick, but she fits the image. Even though Violet has been the only mother I’ve ever known, she’s never shown love or kindness towards me. I have gone to my father about her’s and Taylor’s actions before but he just turns a blind eye. I should have known he wouldn’t care. Putting the broom and mop away after finishing the floors, I decide to sneak out to our garden off to the side of the house. I had a few minutes before the dryer would be finished anyway. I could usually get away with being out here by saying I was gathering ingredients for the kitchen staff for meals or picking flower for the vase in the entry. Making seem like a task instead of enjoyment. The sun kissed my ivory skin and I welcomed the warmth it brought. I would live outside if I could. Well, technically, we can. Funny Eveny, you know we can’t go rogue. Fine. Have it your way. My wolf, Eveny, has tried to convince me many times that life would be better if we just ran off on our own. It wasn’t always a guarantee that another pack will take a stray werewolf in and abandoning your pack on your own accord made it pretty unlikely they would. I finished up the laundry and got all the folded items back to everyone’s rooms. I started going through all the guest rooms making sure everything was presentable and the bathrooms fully stocked. I just finished the last room, when Taylor comes barreling around running right into me, causing me to fall backwards onto my butt. “Why don’t you make yourself useful and help me get ready. Everyone will be here in an hour.” She said, crossing her arms over her chest while staring down at me. I followed her into her glorious bedroom, tall ceilings with a queen size four poster bed right in the middle. Her enormous closet gave way to a dressing area with a vanity to completely get ready. I quickly started to curl her hair and pulled it up into a twist, allowing loose curls to fall around her face. I turned her chair towards me to get to work on her makeup. I preferred a lighter look when it comes makeup but Taylor always likes a more dramatic look, cat eye eyeliner with a deep smokey eyeshadow and a bright red lip to finish off the look. For the evening event the makeup won’t look so out of place, like it does during the day. “I guess it’ll have to do.” She was never one to give out a compliment. If only she was as beautiful on the inside as she could look on the outside. I got her into her bright pink dress and silver heels before she took off to find her mom. I hustled upstairs to get changed for Taylor’s party as well. My dress was far simpler than Taylor’s. It was cream in color, with an empire waist bodice and thin layers of lace covering the skirts. I wore the same dress for any kind of formal event our pack, but I didn’t mind; this dress belonged to my mom. I grabbed the curling iron from Taylor’s room so I could put soft curls in my dark brown hair. I use the little bit of makeup I do have to add a little definition to my facial features but not overdoing it. It doesn’t take much for my bright blue eyes to really shine. Heading down stairs, guest have already been arriving. The additional doors to the dining hall were opened to the solarium making it feel like one huge space and easier to accommodate all these people. My father stood on a decorated platform with Violet and Taylor, greeting everyone who comes up to them. They could care less if I was up their with them. I’m sure they prefer that I’m not. I would certainly look out of place next to Taylor’s bright pink dress and Violet’s gold number that she has going on. At least my father’s outfit was suitable, but it’s pretty hard to mess up a tux. Just then the most amazing scent of lemon and blueberries hit my nose. I don’t know what the kitchen has cooking but it smells amazing. But then Eveny started prancing around in my head, practically jumping up and down. No, this wasn’t the kitchen, this was something else. It’s our Mate! Eveny was yelling me. Mate, Mate, Mate! Go find him. Ok Eveny. Calm down. I’ll see if I can find the source of the scent. I know the source. It’s our Mate! I began to mingle my way around the room. Trying desperately not to bring a lot of attention to myself, Violet and Taylor don’t like when I engage with any guest to get here. Just then I heard a growl come from behind me. I stiffened before turning around to the most amazing pair of green eyes I’ve ever seen in my life. The man was a good foot taller than I am, it wasn’t hard to be taller than me at 5’3”, most werewolves are. His light brown hair was push back away from his face and faded in on the sides, showing off his sharp jawline that had just a bit of stubble on it. I stood there practically drooling at the man. I couldn’t bring myself to say anything, not even hello. His strong green eyes combed my body up and down. I wondering what he thought of me. I know I’m not the prettiest girl around and judging by my normal clothing, I’m sure I look more like a bum than a regular 18 year old. “Outside.” Was the only thing he said to me. Uh-oh. This isn’t a good sign. I guess I should have known when I would met my mate that they would want to reject me. No one wants a servant for a mate.
