Becoming Radagast

4189 Words
Mr. Radagast knew that with upcoming nuptials in order and soon having to present Delilah to his family as a match for a son that they never knew even existed he had his work cut out for him. He had to get them both up to snuff. He immediately hired tutors and etiquette coaches to transition them from the ruffians they once were to upstanding members of the Radagast line. Their instruction and tutelage seemed to be cut out from a Cinderella story. They were introduced to the finest literature and attire that money and privilege could buy. Everything from their appearance, to the way they spoke and dined with others was refined. As a matter of fact, they took to the changes so well no one could ever guess that they were anything less than Radagast. All the while Mr. Radagast was putting his plans in motion and building up his followers day by day. By day Delilah and Lovell were instructed on proper table etiquette for every meal of the day including being introduced to “high tea at noon”. They were taught what attire to wear at any time throughout the day. It reached a point where they had to change their wardrobe at least three times a day daily. No matter how ever many times they had to change it was not like they had to do it themselves the house staff waited on them hand and foot. Their linens were changed and dressed daily. The tutors and instructors for every core subject came to the house and taught them individually being that in their society females and males learned different areas of every subject to tailor them to how they are expected to behave in society. For instance Delilah learned to sow and crochet while Lovell learned archery and cricket.     Delilah and Lovell were tucked away in Mr. Radagast’ s home for almost a year before he felt that they were ready to appear before anyone outside of the estate. He began to allow some of his closest associates to convene with them in order to get to know them better or at least for appearances sake to have Delilah and Lovell appear as if they had always known of their existence. They began to spend their days entertaining the people in Mr. Radagast’ s social circle with their talents and all they had learned. Delilah had taken to her piano lessons and literature quite well and Lovell had taken to art. No one in the Radagast aristocratic society could tell that the pair had come from anywhere else.      On Delilah’s eighteenth birthday she was surprised by a visit from her mother. As delighted as she was to see her, she could not help but notice the state of her mother’s appearance and was surprised by what her mother had to tell her. She looked like a vagabond wearing the stolen clothes of an upper class citizen trying to fit in but failing miserably. Her mother told her that in order for her entire family to be able to travel to Edom, Mr. Radagast had to have them arrested for attempted treason against the High Council. They had to wait for a while in the prisons for Mr. Radagast to find a way to have them released on his own merits and recognizance. Mr. Radagast would then only make a deal to get the family released if they would agree to do his bidding. Once they agreed, he set the family up in a home where he now held various meetings and had sworn them to absolute secrecy. Her mother told her that they now work for Mr. Radagast and must obey his every command in exchange for their lives and safety. She did tell her daughter not to worry though for they live quite comfortably and have become accustomed to the new lifestyle for it was far better than where they came from. They were grateful to Mr. Radagast for changing their lives as well as taking such good care of Delilah.      Only after mother and daughter were all caught up and a slight pause Delilah’s mother told her the true intent of her visit. She said that she had been waiting until Delilah became of age for her to read her fortune. Reading her fortune any earlier would have displayed an unclear result. Delilah understood and gave her mother her palm. As her mother read her palms Delilah tried to decipher her expressions but could not tell what her mother was thinking.  (Mother) One thing is for sure my child, it is clear that you are destined for great things!  (Delilah) Like what mother?  (Mother) Now that is what is a mystery to me, daughter. The line I am reading splits into two designating one for marvelous and miraculous things! The other line displays great but devastating things!  (Delilah) What does that mean mother?  (Mother) Is it not obvious Delilah? You appears you have a choice to make, my dear! No matter which way you choose, you are going to change the world as we know it!  (Delilah) What choice must I make? Surely there is more that you can tell me? (Mother) I cannot see anything more, my dear. I cannot understand it. It is as if something is blocking me…      In the next moment her mother took off with a meek yet worried smile on her face. What could that fortune have possibly meant? Delilah had mixed feelings about the whole ordeal. On one hand she did not know if she could trust Mr. Radagast. She understood that Mr. Radagast was a man of great privilege and was very inclined to getting his own way. She also began to see that his privilege came with a price and if she was to remain a part of that privilege her and her family would have to pay that price, yet on the other hand she could not yet understand what she was truly capable of.      On the eve of Delilah’s birthday, something miraculous happened. Delilah’s power came into full strength. It had completely changed her appearance. Although she was beautiful before, it now showed not only in her face but throughout her body as well. Her body had completely filled out into a more womanly shape. Whenever she went to the mirror, occasionally she would catch a brief glimpse of something odd that would catch her eye. She could never place what it was and shake it  off just thinking that her imagination was running from her. Delilah now had more grace in her walk, an hourglass figure and her appearance would leave a man breathless. Delilah now felt more confident in her powers and having complete control over anything around her and being half Faylinn could make her powers limitless. Now that she was a woman of privilege, she could have anything she wanted. When Mr. Radagast and Lovell finally saw Delilah the next morning the sight of her left them in complete awe. Immediately Mr. Radagast was taken with her and in that same instant decided he had to have her for himself. Mr. Radagast knew nothing of what she had become or what her new appearance meant. All he saw was her boundless beauty and fell weak to it, he now felt that his son was no longer good enough for her. Delilah then realized that she had Mr. Radagast’ s full attention and had him in the palm of her hand. She could get him to do whatever she wanted if she played her cards right and even get him to tell her what his true intentions were. Delilah realized she would have to turn her attentions away from Lovell and to his father if she was going to save herself and her family, with a side of Faylinn revenge.  (Delilah) What have you done to my family?  (Mr. Radagast) I have done nothing that they did not ask me to do. They wanted to follow you here and that was the only way I could do it. Do not worry yourself they are in comfort as I am sure your mother has already explained this all to you.  (Delilah) She looks horrible as if they tortured her there.  (Mr. Radagast) As for her appearance, please allow me to apologize I have no authority in the prisons of the council I had no idea they would be treated that way. They are in the best of care now and before long, they will look as good as new.  (Delilah) Why was my family not brought here to be with me?  (Mr. Radagast) Again, I ask that you forgive me but they do not need to distract you from your studies. You need your focus.      Lovell looked at his father in disbelief at how he was now treating Delilah. He answered her every question and even apologized to her more than once for his shortcomings. It was unlike the father he knew. Delilah knew that at least for now her family was safe and at least now they were within her reach. Lovell began to sense the disappearance of her affections and started to steal away to her room at night. Delilah knowing that she could only trust him, promised him of her true affections and told him what she knew she had to do. Lovell did not like it, but it was the only way they could be free.  (Lovell) What is your plan?  (Delilah) I do not have one ironed out yet but you have noticed your father’s affections have changed.  (Lovell) I do not know what you have done to him but he looks at you very differently now. I do not think I am safe anymore.  (Delilah) Why would you say that?  (Lovell) If I know one thing about my father is that he finds a way to get what he wants and if his feelings towards you have changed then it will only be a matter of time before I done away with again.  (Delilah) I do not think he could ever hurt you, even with as awful as he can be.  (Lovell) You may be right but I still do not trust him and neither should you.  (Delilah) You know that I never could. You know that I do not truly care for him right?  (Lovell) Of course I know but one thing is obvious you changed on your birthday and he has noticed it. Even I have. Your change has only confirmed what I have already known to be true.  (Delilah) I know you do not have to say it. I see it when you look at me.  (Lovell) So what will you do?  (Delilah) I have to gain his trust before I can do anything else. He cannot suspect me of doing anything against him. I have to ensure the safety of my family.  (Lovell) What about us?  (Delilah) I will find a way but my heart remains with yours you must know that.  (Lovell) That is reassuring but I am afraid I cannot stand to see the two of you together. I will remain scarce until you have need of me.      She began to spend more and more time with Mr. Radagast, as he more than enjoyed her company and Lovell began to devote himself to his studies as a distraction. She was so good at her role that Mr. Radagast fell under the impression that she was as taken with him as he was with her and began to unravel all of his plans. Mr. Radagast told her everything, of his secret army, his plans of taking over and ruling both worlds. He even mentioned wiping out all of the Faylinns on her behalf because he was falling for her. He let it slip his intentions of killing her and her family once he got what he wanted, but now things were different and she could rule at his side as his wife. He told her his son was not good enough for her and that he would be rid of him once and for all. He also told her that he was changing the wedding plans to be wed to him. Delilah appeared to be completely delighted with the idea, and Mr. Radagast was none the wiser. He was however one step ahead of her on that night though. While she was with him he had his son sent away. It must have been Delilah’s impression on him as he could not come to terms with killing his only son and heir, besides if it had not been for him he would have never have met Delilah. Mr. Radagast decided he simply just needed him out of the way. When Delilah returned to the house, Mr. Radagast informed her that Lovell was gone as he had no use for him anymore. Now Delilah, not being able to show her true emotions naturally assumed that Mr. Radagast had his son killed just like he did his sister. Delilah now believed she only had herself to rely upon and how she had to play her role to perfection. Now she definitely had to marry Mr. Radagast, but what happened after that she would have to figure out later.      In the next coming weeks everything played out accordingly and Delilah did not miss a beat. Delilah was introduced to the Radagast clan and all were just as mesmerized by her beauty. They did not even bother to ask any questions about where she was from, or who her family was. They just assumed her beauty was a representation of being from a good family and were over joyed that she would be marrying into theirs. Mr. Radagast could not be more excited watching all of his plans were come to fruition. Whenever Delilah had the opportunity she would sneak off and visit her family, although her visits became fewer in between as it soon became apparent that Mr. Radagast had bought her family's loyalty and had been poisoning their minds with lies.  (Delilah) Hello mother, is everything well here?  (Mother) Everything is just fine my dear. Mr. Radagast has been spoiling us to no end here.  (Delilah) How do you mean?  (Mother) He buys us things all of the time especially me, why he just bought me an entirely new wardrobe. I think he fancies me. (Delilah) It is not you he fancies mother, he is merely trying to buy my affections.  (Mother) What do you mean dear?  (Delilah) I am no longer marrying Lovell, Mr. Radagast sent him off. I am to wed him instead.  (Mother) I see, dear. Well he must be quite taken with you!  (Delilah) Mother should your concern not be that I am too young to be married, leased of all to him? (Mother) You were to marry Lovell before so what is the problem now?  (Delilah) You are not the least bit concerned that he is too old for me or why he all of a sudden changed his mind?  (Mother) He probably understands that he is a much better match for you. You will be well provided for, and so will we. What more can you ask for?  (Delilah) I do not believe what I am hearing does the whole family feel this way?  (Mother) They see him as a good man even though he is a little stern in his ways. He just wants and expects the best. My dear have you seen yourself lately? You are the “best”!  (Delilah) Where does your loyalty lie mother with me or with him?  (Mother) Of course it will always be with you what kind of question is that?  (Delilah) You seem to be quite taken with him now that he has changed your lives for the better.  (Mother) Do not be upset with us dear. We have been in squalor for so long that you cannot expect us not to be taken with this new life that we always knew you would provide for us one day.  (Delilah) I thought that you were supposed to protect me?  (Mother) Of course dear, do you feel threatened you should let Mr. Radagast know he will take care of it.  (Delilah) So that is it then? You have given your responsibility of me to him?  (Mother) He is capable of taking much better care of you now than we ever could. You are safe with him. (Delilah) Has he bought you so much that you are blinded by who he truly is?  (Mother) That is no way to speak of the man you are about to marry Delilah. Do not worry your affections for him will change with time dear.  (Delilah) Never mind mother I can see my efforts to see you have been wasted. Enjoy your new life. (Mother) Stop by to see us anytime dear. We love seeing you!      Finally the day of the wedding was at hand. Mr. Radagast allowed for Delilah’s family to be present. After all it was a momentous occasion, and if it was not for them he would not have his precious Delilah. He did however dress them for the part. The event was immaculate! It went off without a hitch like a mid-summer nights dream! There were horse drawn  carriages, lighted trees, mystical fires and music. Mr. Radagast had invited anyone who was considered to be anyone to be in attendance. He wanted everyone to revel at the sight of his bride and he basked in the attention. Delilah and Mr. Radagast appeared to be the happiest couple in the world! That is if anyone had not known any better… and actually everyone was none the wiser. That is except for Delilah. By the time the wedding was over Delilah knew she still had to play her role even more now that she was Mrs. Radagast. It would be a bit easier now that she only had to play the part for one person versus an entire family like she had to do before.     Claude kept Delilah even closer at his side, he felt he could not trust anyone to be around her and any man who looked in her direction would possibly be dead by morning. Delilah had been casting charms on Claude every night that were slowly beginning to drive him mad with jealousy you see. She designed the charms to keep him in a euphoric state whenever he was in her presence. Anyone looking in would think he was the happiest man alive, but it kept him from ever knowing that he had never even slept in the same bed as her. Being with Claude on a consistent basis throughout all of his secret meetings and dealings with his followers were beginning to change the very fabric of Delilah’s being. Every day Delilah became a bit more deceiving, conniving, manipulative and strategic, becoming more like Claude. She tried as much as she could to retain some part of herself but it became harder and harder with every passing day. Behaving like Claude ensured that she would get what she wanted and it was so easy to do. No one would question her motives and everyone was too scared to report anything back to Claude. He had become so comfortable with Delilah that as they sat for their nightly dinners he would allow her to become a part of his ritualistic berating and torturing of anyone he felt betrayed him in any manner. He would invite the perpetrator to sit with them at dinner and would allow Delilah the opportunity to choose how he would t*****e the person as she watched. Something deep inside Delilah enjoyed the torturing as she never turned away and she made sure she never missed the event. (Claude) We have another guest this evening dear.  (Delilah) Who is it this time?  (Claude) A sniveling politician, he did not present one of my reports to the High Council.  (Delilah) Why would he do a thing like that is he not aware of what you are capable of.  (Claude) Apparently he does not know, he is fairly new to the way we do business around here.  (Delilah) Well then let us bring him in shall we?     The butlers had been ordered to bring the perpetrator in to the dining hall once he arrived at the estate. He was truly unaware of what these dinners entailed. Claude had invited him under the guise of wanting to discuss business over dinner and to meet his wife. When the gentlemen arrived and into the dining hall, the first thing he took notice of was Delilah and was immediately taken with her beauty. He could not take his eyes off her the entire time they ate and made the mistake of attempting to sit next to her at the dining table. This enraged cClaude and he proceeded to t*****e him in a fashion that was a bit more drastic than his previous victims. The young man almost did not make it out alive, had it not been for Delilah.  (Claude) Beautiful is she not?  (Perpetrator) Uh yes, I apologize for my behavior. I have never met anyone as beautiful.  (Claude) It is not a problem really although I must advise that you avert your attention elsewhere.  (Perpetrator) Oh yes, but of course what is it that you wanted to speak about?  (Claude) It has been brought to my attention that you did not submit my reports to the High Council.  (Perpetrator) I thought we have discussed this matter already. It was reviewed and believed to be a waste of the High Council’s time and energy.  (Claude) How dare you, nothing I do is a waste of time!      The perpetrator made the mistake of returning his attention to Delilah and it drove Claude insane. He began to strangle the very life out of the perpetrators lungs without laying a finger on him as he rose into the air causing him to knock his chair over as he kicked and fought. (Delilah) You know that you cannot do this Claude. We only threaten their life or their families if they do not do as you wish.  (Claude) I warned him not to look or speak to you!  (Delilah) As much as I would like to see him get what he deserves you know this is f*******n. You can lose your position and all of your titles. (Claude) Then help me!  (Delilah) As soon as you put him down.      Claude had done as he was told and placed the man back into his seat. As soon as he could catch his breath he threatened to expose Claude and to sue him for all that he had. Delilah had taken the opportunity to sing him a song. The song itself was not like any normal song. As the man looked into her eyes it hypnotized him and rendered him defenseless. This was a man of no magic and Delilah had already sensed it as soon as he had entered the dining hall. Being that he had no magic the song was able to work its magic without fail. By the time the song was over the perpetrator got up from his seat, dismissed himself from the dinner table, went into his car and left the grounds.  (Claude) What did you do?  (Delilah) You will find out by tomorrow morning. As for now do not worry yourself he is no longer a threat to you. I ask that you do not inquire to anyone about him as it may cause speculation.     The next day Claude received news that the man that had left their home had been rendered missing, his car was later found that same day at the bottom of a lake. It was assumed that the man had drowned and would never be heard from again. Claude reacted as if he could care less about the gentlemen because Delilah had ensured that he had been relieved of any cause for anyone to look his direction as a probable suspect. With this news, Claude had confirmation that Delilah was completely on his side and he could proceed with all of his attempts as planned or so she led him to believe. Her only intent was to ensure his trust and maintain her and her family’s safety. She could only do so much to Claude without him being suspicious of her intentions. Her charms only intensified how he felt about her. He was very powerful himself, if she tried to do anything more to him he would surely catch her.      Finally the time had come where Claude was prepared to activate his plan. By now, he had prepared and manipulated a massive fleet of followers and sympathizers to his cause. Claude had managed to get his entire family on board although it was not like it was that hard. Any family who has power is inevitably going to want one thing… more power. Delilah now had everything her heart good ever desire and full access to any and everything on the Radagast's estate. The house staff was at her every beckon call as she began to stretch the limits of her authority. She was now allowed to leave the grounds whenever she chose but Claude would always be at her side. He never let her be anywhere by herself. He became obsessed with preventing the possibility of anyone being able to take her away from him. Even with him being as over protective as he was, Delilah still found a way to formulate a plan of her own.
