Preface
In an alternate universe on a world called “Idris” resided the most unique, serene, beautiful and magical creatures. Some creatures flourished during the day while others preferred the solace and beauty of the night sky. these creatures of the light lived in fear of a future where some of the more nefarious nocturnal would one day use their power to take over the day and bring about the “eternal night”. To prevent this from occurring, the creatures of light opted for a governing body for both sides. the nocturnal saw this as a threat of control and decided the only option they could employ was to wage a war. In what came to be known as the “war of the ages” great destruction and devastation occurred that ultimately changed the face of “Idris”. Where once magnificent buildings and monuments stood now were rubble and ruins. Innocent creatures were slaughtered leaving behind only remnants of their existence and the magic they once possessed. Magic could never be lost only transcended or transferred. Much to the dismay of the nocturnal, a “High Council” was still appointed to prevent a war from ever happening again. their first formal action was to split “Idris” into two planes that became known as “Amaris” for the creatures of light, and “Edom” for the nocturnal.      From the separation emerged two prominent families as each plane had its own commerce and trade. In “Amaris” the Faylinns resided, a family of fairies that represented the most powerful and powerful and ancient of light magic. In “Edom” the radagasts resided, a family of sorcerers that represented the most powerful and ancient of dark magic. Faylinn’s were born with a natural beauty about them that drew people in. to be near a Faylinn brought an instant feeling of happiness and fulfillment so one can imagine the significance in being chosen to marry into the family and therefore automatically rising in the societal rankings. the attitudes of the Faylinn family however did not match their grace. they wore their social status like a crown and belittled those they deemed unworthy, and that was the way in which they married. Either you increased their value or you were not worth the time of day. Eventually the Faylinn line reached a point of desperation and had to marry their last male heir off to a family below their status due to the inevitable inbreeding of the elite that resulted in the decline of pregnancies thereafter. the male was married off to a family of mystics that finally conceived a Faylinn heir or so they had hoped….
