Meet Mr. Radagast

2739 Words
The Radagasts were one of the families that caused the “War of Ages” in the first place. They rounded up followers who did not believe in being governed or ruled and would have much preferred to rule themselves as they did for many centuries before the High Council even existed. Now much to the dismay of the Radagasts, they lost the war and the High Counsel was still elected and they still do govern both worlds to this date. the Radagasts still however hold true to their beliefs that they do not want to be ruled but now they have pretty much kept to themselves and acknowledge their disposition in secret. They rank themselves high above others and are not afraid to treat everyone else as such. They marry their sons to only the richest and most magical families to keep their lines intact.      Some Radagasts are a bit more ambitious than others especially in changing the current status of their family lines. Claude Radagast was such a man. His ambitions were as tall as the eye could see. He was revered by many because of his great disdain for people he deemed beneath him and his miraculous knack for getting elected to official titles and offices that no one would ever vote him in for just because he is so hated by all who know him. He truly thought of himself as royalty and expected to be treated as such. He lived on one of the biggest estates in Edom. The only ones bigger were those of the elders of his family line. Even as hated as Mr. Radagast was he still prevailed over his counter parts. He maintained his titles through threats, bribery and promises. He was as crooked as anyone could be. He accepted bribes for favors and made it his business to ruin anyone who stood in his way. He kept himself surrounded only by others like he could bring himself to trust.      Claude Radagast has been hatching a secret plan in order to bring his family name dominion over not just the Edom but Amaris as well. It was not so much as to really bring his family name but to bring his own. No one knows of this plan accept for the staff of his household being that he used them to run his secret errands and they had been sworn to secrecy by blood oath. If they failed him his staff would sacrifice their families in return for their insolence. He even managed to keep his secret from the rest of his family, for if they knew they would surely ruin it because not everyone felt the same way he did. It was one thing to be allowed to rule yourselves, it was quite another to want to rule both worlds. Although Claude held all of these official titles and offices, his plan could not be put in to motion until he was able to get the highest official seat that held the most power only then could he bring an end to this governance… that’s right! Mr. Radagast wanted a seat on the High Counsel. How would he be able to pull off getting a seat on the High Counsel one might ask?       Mr. Radagast practiced in the darkest of magic, even darker than those normally practiced in his family line. How else would he have been able to get himself elected over and over again without anyone being the wiser? For him to be able to get to the High Counsel though he would have to pull off the greatest rouse of all time. His plan involved having to generate an alternate identity and maintain it for as long as it would take to bring his plan to fruition. this would require magic that he did not possess all by himself. It would require magic of another maybe one even more powerful than him. For years and years Mr. Radagast researched his dark magic to find an answer until one day it came to him. The only power that would be possibly great enough to carry out his plan existed in Amaris. He would have to get a Faylinn, but how could he get his hands on a Faylinn? While thinking into it even further, he then realized the only way to get a Faylinn would be to marry one. Ugggh! How dreadful a thought! He can’t marry a Faylinn, they only had male heirs… unless he had a daughter. That’s it! He had to fashion himself a daughter! That would require a lot of dark magic. Then another thought struck him, he not only had to have a daughter but she also had to be born in Amaris to attract a Faylinn. A child prone to darkness would be a dead giveaway to a Faylinn. So Mr. Radagast patiently waited for the day that he might have to do official business for the High Counsel and would have to travel to Amaris.      Once the day had finally come, he prepared himself to find a woman to do his bidding. This woman would have to be very vulnerable and weak minded. He found an easy woman of a magical line who would do anything for a quick buck and promised her a life of ease if she carried out his wishes. He managed to court her and made her think he was in love with her. She would do anything he asked and she obliged him by carrying his heir. She was to raise the child in comfort and to help her marry a Faylinn. Much to her surprise though and due to the dark magic that Mr. Radagast had cast she gave birth to twins, a boy named Lovell and a girl named Clarabelle. Both took on their father’s birth mark and they were raised according to his specific instructions, and with her last name. Every time Mr. Radagast visited the world of light he went to his children and bred them to his will. He taught them how to use their magic as well as to hide it until his designated time. They were beautiful raven haired children and they revered their father so much that they obeyed his every command. When Mr. Radagast was gone the children lived somewhat normal lives. they blended in perfectly, they went to the best schools but they did keep to themselves. Both of them though dark in nature behaved as if the only powers they had had come from their mother. When the twins became teenagers, Mr. Radagast manipulated their birthmarks to that of their mother to begin presenting them to the Faylinn family. Much to his surprise though, as beautiful as his children were the Faylinns were not interested in his daughter despite how many attempts were made to find her a match. They judged her birthmark and did not deem her a worthy enough a match for their sons.      In his rage and disappointment, he took the life of his daughter without a second thought by poisoning her. He  took his money and abandoned his son and mistress as he deemed them useless and disappeared to find another means to make his plan work. The mother was forced to return to her old way of living and raised her remaining child on her own. The son was had to leave the fancy private schools his father once had him attend because his mother could not afford it all on her own. Though they were disappointed and without a dime to their name they had to continue on as if nothing happened.  To all of those who showed any concern for the daughter the mother simply told them that she had fallen ill and died in her sleep. She could not risk anyone knowing the truth as Mr. Radagast as he had left quite an impression on her that he could take her life too. His new school and home was a drastic change from what he had become accustomed to, there were moments where he had trouble adjusting and his mother would have to bring him back to the reality that they now had to live.  (Lovell) Mother is there anything else to eat?  (Mother) What do you think this is? This is all I can afford. There will be no more lavish dinners with maids and butlers. this is our life now!  (Lovell) Sorry mother I did not mean anything by it. (Mother) You bet you are sorry! A sorry excuse for a son is what you are! I should have never let your father woe me. Now look at me! I deserve more than this.  (Lovell) How can you say that mother?!  (Mother) My life is ruined that’s why! I am worse off than I was now that I have you!  (Lovell) It is not fair to place the blame on me. I did not ask for this!  (Mother) You are right it’s not fair none of this is fair! But I am sorry son it is not your fault. I just get so angry sometimes. Please forgive me. I did not mean it.  (Lovell) It is okay mother. I know you did not mean it. I will choose my words more carefully from now on.  (Mother) You are such a good boy can you make us some tea please?  (Lovell) Of course mother. I understand that we are all we have now.      Lovell did as his mother asked and went to fetch them some tea. They spent the evening in front of the fireplace as they reminisced about the life they once had and the memories they shared of Clarabelle. They could not understand where it all went wrong. The mother did everything as Mr.  Radagast had bade her to do. Lovell comforted his mother until she fell asleep on the couch. He gently kissed her on the forehead and placed a blanket over her to keep her warm through the night. He then retreated to his own room where he spent the rest of the night doing his studies and preparing for school the next day. When the morning came Lovell saw his mother off to work and he walked himself to school. Being that he transferred into his new school from a prestigious private school, a lot of his education landed him in the more advanced classes. He had no trouble catching up to the rest of the class. No one ever noticed him for one being that he was new and second he never brought attention to himself. He just allowed himself to blend in He did however managed to spot a girl that always sat at the front of his classes while he sat in the back. This girl was not like any he had seen before. Her hair length reached all the way to her feet and it was silver. The same color of the change he had in his pocket. In every class he saw this girl in he could not help but to watch her. He found her to be quite mysterious in her ways as she hardly spoke a word to anyone unless they spoke to her. Even with her being as quiet as she was he noticed that people just gravitated towards her and loved being in her presence. It did not phase her at all. It appeared to him that she enjoyed being by herself. Anywhere he saw her he just observed her from a distance. She never noticed him being that she was always surrounded by people vying for her attention. He even noticed her when she snuck off to the library to be alone with her books. He was fascinated by everything she did and could not help but to be drawn to her as well just like the rest of their peers. He decided to talk to his mother about it one day as he could not seem to get her out of his mind.  (Lovell) Is it possible to be in love with someone you have never officially met mother? (Mother) love is a waste of time it gets you nothing but debt and heart break. It’s best to get what you can out of any relationship and better yourself in the process.  (Lovell) Is that what you truly believe mother?  (Mother) of course it is just look at us!  (Lovell) It is clear that you are still bitter over how father left us.  (Mother) Why should I not be? We had everything our heart desired and it was taken from us just like that! (Lovell) You gave your heart to someone mother, that does not mean that love is forsaken.  (Mother) Do not antagonize me with your big private school words and fancy education. What do you know about love you are but a child!  (Lovell) I know enough to know that it exists and that no one can run from it. (Mother) Who said anything about running?! It should be snuffed out and obliterated. It is a lie created to make people weak and vulnerable. (Lovell) With everything we know about my father and everything he has done it seems painstakingly clear that he never truly loved us. It also seems very clear that you were in love with his money and blind to everything else.  (Mother) How dare you?! You think you are any better than me or any better than him! You wait and see you will be just like your father!  (Lovell) I will be nothing of the sort!  (Mother)I saw my chance and I took it! I was a fool for trusting him and now I am stuck with you!  (Lovell) I despise when you say such hateful things!  (Mother) If you do not wish to hear it there is the door no one is begging you to stay!      Lovell left in a huff only to return later to find his mother crying in her room. Once again he had to console her until she fell asleep. It began to ware on Lovell that he pretty much had to be the adult in a broken home with a heartbroken mother who had given up on everything. He had to remain positive for the both of them or at least he found enough courage to leave. Right now he just could not bring himself to do it and he knew if he left it would crush whatever strength his mother had left. For now Lovell would have to remain hopeful and find solace in the fact that his future would be different although he lived in fear that if he did not find a way to help his father that they would eventually suffer the same fate as his sister. Little did the son of Radagast know that his chance to redeem himself would come sooner than later.      The next day at school Lovell once again noticed the silver haired girl following her daily routine. On this day he decided to follow Delilah into the library to find out what it was that she spent hours a day doing in there all by herself. He made sure he kept his distance as he watched her pull book after book off of the shelves. He noticed that they were all magic books and not just any magic books either, they were all advanced material. He watched her for a while figuring that she might just be into that sort of thing as far as reading and just when he was about to pull himself away he saw her start to do magic. It was small things at first like a moving a chair from one space to another and then it transfigured into something else like a broom and then a stool. Soon after she began quoting spells that turned various liquids into potions without ingredients. It was nothing he had ever seen before and it was definitely not anything that the school taught. He continued to watch her as he could not bring himself to pull away that is until someone who appeared to be her friend came and found her. Her presence seemed to annoy the girl and they argued a little. Moments later he saw the girl use magic on her that seemed to make her dizzy. It was apparent that the girl had used a memory spell to make her forget something as they both left the library shortly after. He could not believe everything he had seen especially since unsupervised spells were f*******n. He decided right then and there that he had to meet this girl.
