Trapped In Sin: Ava’s Story

Ava POV “Not today, Please - I’ll work extra hours tomorrow. I promise.” I spoke through tears. My body felt extremely weak, and that’s because I haven’t fully healed from my last punishment. Esmeralda’s hand moved faster than the wind, I felt my cheek burn from her slap. I’m used to her beatings - it honestly doesn’t hurt as much as it used to. “You ungrateful brat, do you think the bills will pay by itself. I’m warning you girl, get off your lazy ass and go to work.” She seethed, the hatred in her eyes was undeniable. She clicked her tongue, and stormed out of my room, banging the door behind her. I flinched, only God knows how much I hate her. That wicked woman is Esmeralda, my evil stepmother. This is not a Cinderella story, and no magic glass slipper will save me from her, she has made sure of that. I curse the day that my father married her. She never liked me from the beginning. She always hid her true feelings for me, especially when my father was around, she would always pretend to be the most caring, and loving mother in my father’s presence. But the second he was gone, her true nature would come out, my life got worse when my father died. Esmeralda would punish me for any stupid reasons, I had to do all the chores in the house, even though we had maids. I had to do whatever her daughters Zara, Zoe and Sharon wanted, no questions asked- I became the trio’s personal maid. Esmeralda made it a habit of whipping me until I bled, then she would lock me in the dark-room, a room designed for torture, specifically for me. They would lock me in there for hours, and laugh every time I cried for help. Her daughter’s are far worse than she is, they make it their mission to taunt me and degrade me in public. When I was 16, Esmeralda told me that I had to start working because my father left no money for me. According to her, my father left the house and his wine company in her name. My own father left me with nothing, I always wondered if Esmeralda was lying, but the signed documents are a huge slap in the face. That was definitely my father’s signature that was scribbled down on those papers, he gave everything he owned to his second wife. And because he gave me nothing, I had to pay a bigger price. Esmeralda forced me to sleep with a famous politician, he paid a huge price for my virginity. And ever since then, I’ve been working as a prostitute for Esmeralda. I don’t have a choice really, I’m 23 years old now but I still fear Esmeralda like I did when I was 6 years old. She is a venomous woman, and she’s even more dangerous when it comes to her escort business. I work with four other ladies, I’ve never really seen them much because we all work in different hotels. I usually work at the Royal Deluxe hotel or elite nightclubs, it all depends on Esmeralda, she gets the elite clients - and the accommodation. I just do all the work. The girls are paid monthly but I don’t make as much money as the other girls, most of my salary goes to Esmeralda. And the little I do get, I save it and hide it with my other money. I’ve been saving money for a year now, I plan to escape from this cursed house. I want to run as far away from Esmeralda as I can, she has used me for far too long, and I’ve had enough, it’s time for me to break free from the chains that she has bound me with. I cursed inwardly, and walked into my en-suite bathroom, I opened the shower door, and turned the water on. I gently pulled down the straps of my flimsy dress, it fell from my shoulders, and pooled at my feet. The warm water instantly revived me, I really had no desire to work today, but when do I ever have a choice? Everything is always decided for me, my life is literally in my stepmother’s hands - she does with me as she pleases. As long as I lay on my back and get f****d by different men for money, I will never be happy. Everything about me is miserable, I make countless of men happy everyday but I can’t even make myself smile. I sighed. And began scrubbing myself, after my bath I got ready for work. I got dressed in a backless red dress, it had a long slit that exposed my thick thigh. I completed the look with silver heels and jewellery. I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror and sighed. I looked beautiful, but for the wrong reasons. My light blonde hair was in a stylish bun, and my face had mild makeup. I hated the fact that I was beautiful, my mother was a very beautiful woman, and she blessed me with her beauty. But my beauty isn’t a blessing, it’s a curse, Esmeralda has told me many times, that my looks has made her a lot of money. That’s why, when she hits me or tortures me, she makes sure to never touch my face. A loud knock came on my door, I knew it was time to leave but I still dreaded it. Zoe’s high pitched voice echoed from the other side of the door. “Slut, your driver’s downstairs, don’t keep him waiting.” The disgust in her voice was loud, I heard her footsteps fade away from my door, Zoe was a very condescending woman - But I hated her for so many other reasons. I grabbed my work bag, and walked out of my room, the house was awfully busy today. Esmeralda has important guest coming over tonight, guest she’ll probably invite into my room later. My father was a very wealthy man, he took pride in his work ethic, and his home. The house we live in now is bigger than the normal house, we have a private chef- and many servants. Esmeralda loves the flashy lifestyle, her connections with the socialites, and politicians makes her think that she’s superior. I hurried out the house, cautiously passing the busy servants that kept giving me dirty looks - this was my life everyday, if they weren’t giving me the stink eye, then they were calling me a harlot. They judge me without knowing my reasons. A red Lamborghini was parked in the driveway, my driver Ronaldo, was casually leaning against the sports car with a big smile on his face, his brown hair swayed in the breeze, and soft jazz music was playing in the background. I shook my head in disapproval as I approached the car. “Is this really necessary.” I asked, waving my hands up and down at the flashy car, he laughed and opened the passenger door for me. “You know how Esmeralda is. She said you have a very important client today - I’m just following orders.” He spoke in his rich Italian accent, putting his hands up in surrender. I rolled my eyes and jumped into the car. Ronaldo is the only person who hasn’t treated me like s**t in this house, he’s been my driver for three years now - and my personal bodyguard. My stepmother really ruined every good memory I had in my childhood home, nothing felt the same after the abuse - my only wish is to run, and never look back. I waited until we drove out of the estate to ask. “Where am I working today?” Ronaldo furrowed his brows, and turned to look at me for a second, before turning back to the road. “Midnight Lounge.” He muttered under his breath. I groaned out in annoyance, midnight lounge is a high profile nightclub - and the shady owner loves to book me, that’s the only reason why I hate that place so much. He’s a 30 year old, married man, who also has a weird foot-fetish, and he’s very dominant in the sheets. “Great.” I mumbled, my tone dripping with sarcasm as I looked out the car window. That man has no mercy, every time I begged him to go softer, he would remind me of how much money he paid to have me. He was one of the worst clients ever, but my fate has already been sealed. I wish I could find a way to runaway sooner, I need to be very smart - Esmeralda is not a woman to be trifled with, she has too many people on her payroll. I have to be very diligent about my plan, Esmeralda must never find out about my escape plan before I get to execute it - I don’t even want to imagine what she’ll do to me if that were the case. I turned to face Ronaldo with a weary expression. “If I’m being honest, I really don’t like the owner.” I muttered softly, and turned back to look out the car window, I was admiring every passing tree. I heard Ronaldo sigh. “That’s the problem, Ava - he has already taken a liking to you, you’re the only girl he asks for. You know how much Esmeralda treasures him, please don’t do anything that’s gonna get you into trouble again.” His tone held a strong warning. I rolled my eyes at him. The last time I was with the owner of midnight lounge, he was being rude and aggressive - I kept begging him to stop until I finally reached the last straw. And I used my taser on him, Esmeralda threw a b***h fit, and she punished me for three days - I was repeatedly beaten in the dark room, and chained to a bed. I almost saw death on the third day. But I’ll behave tonight, I can’t afford to get any more of those brutal punishments - my body is still healing from the last punishment I got two days ago. This is my life, I’m trapped in sin. It doesn’t help that everyone in the city knows that Ava Carter, is a harlot. Thanks to my stepsisters, who hate me so much, they made sure to go the extra mile to prove their point. They loathed me and honestly - the feeling is mutual.
