Ava POV
My whole mood turned sour, Esmeralda was really draining the life out of me. David is the owner of midnight lounge, and the last time I was with him - I tased him for being aggressive.
Esmeralda dismisses my complaints about her violent clients, because she’s more concerned about their happiness, more so than my life. If a client kills me one day, she won’t care, as long as she makes her money - she is happy.
“One, s*x on the beach.” I looked up from my phone, and smiled. I don’t need to tell Reed what I want, he already knows what I drink, and he also knows what I prefer to drink on certain days. That’s why he’s my favourite bartender.
“Thank you, Reed.” I said flirtatiously, Ronaldo groaned beside me, clearly annoyed with me and Reed. “Anything for you, sugar.” I grinned like a fool, and sipped on my cocktail.
“I swear the both of you are going to give me a brain aneurysm.” Ronaldo said as he took a big sip of his beer, I rolled my eyes at him. “You’re so dramatic.” He laughed and nodded. “When it comes to you, I have to be.” He deadpanned.
Reed laughed, and walked away to attend to the other customers. “I need to use the restroom.” I stated, as I climbed off my chair, I straightened out my dress, and walked across the crowded dance floor.
My gaze fell on a table with a few men seated, they were staring at me very intensely, I could feel the judgement in their stares, but their lust for me was unwavering. I laughed, and looked away.
They were no better than me, they were judging me for what I do, but they also want in, it was evident that they wanted to be in-between my legs. I held my head high, because no simple-minded man is going to dim my shine.
I came to an abrupt stop when I saw how empty the corridor was, the flashing disco lights illuminated a variety of colours on the walls, it creeped me out.
“Fuck.” I muttered under my breath. ‘It’s fine, Ava. You can do this.’ I tried to encourage myself, I only get nervous like this because of the Beast, I really don’t want to be his next victim.
I sighed. And began walking down the corridor, the colour of the disco lights turned red, I gulped. I was so close to the girls bathroom when a door opened, and a huge man stepped out, the door banged loudly behind him, startling me instantly.
My steps faltered, and my eyes zeroed in on the huge man. My heart started racing, and all the worse case-scenarios began filtering my thoughts. The lights switched to blue, and our eyes locked.
There was something strange in his eyes, i felt a cold chill run down my spine, the way the blue lights glowed on him, it made him look cruel, and powerful but his eyes felt so magnetic, I couldn’t look away.
His brows furrowed, and his lips curved up into a cruel smirk. I should run, but I couldn’t move, I felt frozen in time.
The man loosened his tie, those cold eyes of his never left mine. He charged towards me, I felt my flight instincts kick in - I immediately snapped out of my frozen state. The lights switched to purple, just as I turned, and ran for my life. I sprinted down the corridor but my heels weren’t helping at all.
I felt strong arms circle around my waist, and pull me back with a strong force - my back hit against a hard chest, and the crazy man held me in place.
This is not how I plan to die, absolutely not. I screamed, and tried to pry his hands off me, but boy was he strong. “Let go of me, you crazy, weirdo.” I shrieked, the man laughed, but it was cold, and void of emotion.
I couldn’t see his face, but I could feel it near my neck. “I’ve been called many things, but weird was never one of them.” He had a rich accent that I’ve never heard before, and a very deep voice.
His voice was so alluring, and sexy. But he was holding me hostage, and I don’t take kindly to being a prisoner. “I don’t care what you’ve been called, let me go.” I yelled, and tried to wiggle out of his strong grip.
His breath hitched, the man cursed under his breath. “If you keep grinding like that against me, I might just f**k you, right here.” He breathed against my ear, I instantly stopped moving.
He chuckled darkly, his hot breath on my neck gave me goosebumps. “What’s your name?” He questioned. His hands held my waist possessively, he made sure that I couldn’t evade him. “Anne.” I lied through my teeth, I don’t know this weird man, I’m not gonna tell him my real name.
He laughed behind me, there was something dark, and twisted about his laugh, it made me feel very uneasy. “Anne, you’re going to forget that you ever saw me here. Do you understand.” He whispered in my ear, dangerously low. I felt my core clench, what on earth was this man doing to me?
I nodded profusely against his chest. “Yes, thi- this never happened.” I stuttered against my will. I just wanted to be out of this uncomfortable situation, this man was very dangerous - that much I could tell.
“Such a good girl.” He praised, with his deep, and rich voice. He naturally made everything sound like a threat. I felt threatened right now, but his arms felt safe. I know, I’m crazy. Only a crazy person would say that.
I felt soft lips peck my cheek, I almost moaned. He kissed me, and pulled away. “I’ll be back for you, Anne.” He spoke with conviction, like he was certain that he would see me again.
I felt his hold on me loosen, as soon as he let go of me, my weird body missed his touch, I felt confused by this, and turned around - only to be met with an empty corridor.
What the- he was just behind me, how could he vanish so fast? I racked my brain until my head hurt. He was just here, I don’t understand how he miraculously disappeared in a matter of seconds - these corridors were long, I was still supposed to be able to see him walking away. But I didn’t.
Who was that strange man? And why doesn’t he want anyone to know that he was here? Also what did he mean by, he’ll be back for me. I shook off those nagging questions, and decided to go back to the bar.
I was in a daze as I made my way back to Ronaldo, and the mystery man was still on my mind. I spotted Ronaldo with a beautiful woman, she was happily grinding on his lap- they were both very bold to do that in here.
I shook my head, Ronaldo always had a way with women. They were attracted to him like a moth drawn to a flame. I sat on the bar stool, and picked up my cocktail. Completely ignoring the two love-birds that were seated next to me.
“You finally back, why’d you take so long just to use the toilet.” Ronaldo whined, I rolled my eyes at him. “I wasn’t gone that long, you really need to stop being so dramatic.” I muttered, and the girl giggled in his arms.
I downed my cocktail, and checked the time on my phone, David will be here soon. I’m really dreading being with him again, but hey, Who am I to oppose.
I turned to my handsome Reed, and tapped my glass seductively. He winked, because he already knew the assignment. “You two, should just f**k already. I’m sick of the both of you.” Ronaldo mumbled, I almost choked on my spit.
“You seriously need help, Ron. Me and Reed are just friends.” I said defensively, he rolled his eyes at me, and sipped on his beer like he didn’t just say something outrageous. “I’m just calling out what I see.” He shrugged, he had a smug smile on his face.
I wanted to wipe that satisfied look off his face, he knows what his doing, the freaking bastard. Reed gave me my cocktail, and took away my empty glass.
He turned to Ronaldo with a smile, and threw his cleaning-cloth over his broad shoulder. “If me and Ava do decide to, you know-“ He winked at Ronaldo before he continued.
“We’ll make sure that you’re there to watch, so we can finally give you that brain aneurysm you always complain about.” He gave me a sheepish smile after he said that.
I burst out laughing. Ronaldo pushed the girl off him so fast, the poor girl went flying, and collided with the floor. He was ready to attack Reed. But Reed was quick, he ran straight into the staff room. “That little fucker, I’m gonna wring his neck the next time I see him.” The murder in Ronaldo’s eyes only made me laugh harder.
The poor girl that he pushed, went to a different table, those were probably her friends that she went back to. I was dying of laughter, I completely forgot about David, and the mystery man I met in the club corridor. Little did I know that my life would change the moment I met Him.
