Chapter 21 Mary Francis perked up. “I hate to ask, but Polly would you stay for just a little bit? Then you can meet my baby? Unless you’re too tired. I know you must be exhausted.” Polly smiled and gave the patient a hug. When her baby arrived, Polly helped the new mother uncover the infant so she could admire the tiny toes and beautiful soft skin of this latest gift from God. “I remember how excited I was when my mom had my baby brothers and children.” She related stories of when her brothers were tiny and the silly questions she asked. “One time I asked my mom how he knew the baby was a boy or girl before they put it in a pink or blue blanket.
