It felt like the world stood still. The second of silence before the storm. Sandra made the first move knife aiming for my throat. Kyle pushed me out of the way and brought his sword down on her arm. She changed direction at the last second and only got a light cut on her arm. Dimitra immediately lunged at one of the group. None of them looked familiar to me but they were most likely top of their class years. Two broke from the group and rushed at me. They didn't have any weapons so the first one tried to hit at my head and I ducked under him. The second one went for my stomach so I grabbed her fist before she made contact and pulled her to the ground.
The first one roundhouse kicked at my head and I dropped to the ground. The girl tried to grab at me from the ground but I rolled away, the boy took out a dagger and lunged at me with it. I kicked his hand away and got to my feet, the girl took that as a cue to get a staff out. I grabbed the knives that I had tucked into my waist band and threw one at the girl. She didn't see it fly towards her so it lodged into her thigh and she hissed. The boy rushed at me with his dagger and sliced my arm when I tried to twist away.
Katerina came over from no where and hit the boy with something, knocking him out. The girl pulled the knife out of her leg and threw it back barely missing my head and lodging itself into the wall behind me. Katerina mumbled under her breath and then I saw the girl fly into the wall without any one touching her. I stepped back in shock, confused as to what I just saw.
"Witch remember?" Katerina snapped at me.
I nodded slightly glaring at her. Before I could recover I had a hard kick into my ribs, knocking me to my knees. A hard fist hit my back and I collapsed onto the ground trying to catch my breath. I rolled onto my back and saw Sandra standing above me with a smirk.
"Quite ironic isn't it? The killer about to be killed? Even better this can consider us even for the beat down you gave me years ago in our final training."
Sandra took a dagger out from her belt, readied to plunge it at me, when she suddenly froze. I turned my head to see Dimitra's sister chanting in our direction. I didn't recognize the language but it seemed as if Sandra had turned into a puppet. You could see her struggle to break from whatever hold Trina had on her. Panic set in her eyes when she realized she couldn't escape. Her hands opened, making her drop the dagger, then slowly went back to her sides. Rage flashed in her eyes when she was brought down to her knees.
I got to my feet slowly, feeling the pain in my ribs, walking away from her. I had no clue what Trina was saying but within a blink Sandra's eyes went dull and she flopped forward onto the ground. I gasped when I watched her body and didn't see it rise for a breath.
"What did you do to her?" I asked Trina in shock.
Trina spoke with no emotion in her voice, "death spell. It's been several centuries since I had to use it but it was either you or her."
I had no memory of witches still so I had no idea as to how powerful they could be.
"Kyle!" I gasped.
I got caught into my own fights forgetting about him. He jumped in front of me to block Sandra's first attack and I never made sure he was okay. Since I saw her fighting him last I don't want to think of what happened for her to get free. I looked around, taking in the faces, making sure he wasn't in them.
"Austin!"
I heard his voice coming from the hallway. I rushed over the best I could and found him in the hall bathroom. I found him in there washing off a gash on his arm. His face looked like it was forming a bruise on his jaw but I saw no other injuries on him.
"Are you okay? How did Sandra get away from you?"
He opened his mouth to reply when I heard a groan come from the hall. I ducked my head around the corner just past the bathroom and found Dimitra getting up from the floor with Katerina helping her.
"Oh god Dimitra are you okay? What happened?"
"One of those little dipshits hit the back of my head and I was out before I hit the ground." She looked angry as she rubbed the back of her head, wincing slightly. "Austin we are clearly out of time. You and Kyle need to remember so me and Trina are going to cast a spell over you both to try and rush the process of your memories."
I was hesitant but we did need to be ready before the Order found us. This was sheer child's play compared to what they can do. "When do we start?"
"Tonight."
