New Books!

Amber's POV It had been a couple weeks since Maahes and Hawk had met in the woods. I had finished the books, going back and forth with the ones I read so that I could double check things I might have missed. I had deep need to read and understand how it all happened. I didn't understand the urge but, I wanted to fulfill it. I was taking notes about different bits, that I could refer to later. "Ma Cháñte," I heard Hawk's delicious silk smooth voice call. I instantly looked up to the direction his voice came from. He was standing in the doorway, a smirk on his lips, a playful look in his deep brown eyes. In his hand was four leather bound old looking books. "Yes," I cooed looking from the books to him. "Mato's warriors came across these books, while they were hunting some vampires." Hawk walked toward me raising an eye brow as I placed the book I had in my lap on the swing and raised my hands up for the books while sitting forward in my seat. Hawk placed them in my outstretched hands he gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Thank you," I smiled. Looking down at the books I read the titles, "Creating a Dhamphyr,"  "History of the Fae," "Dragon's Lore" and "The History of Ancient Lands." I couldn't help the wiggle of elation as I had new books to learn. I looked up at Hawk, leaning forward I showered his face with kisses. "Always welcome, Ma Cháñte." Hawk pulled me close for a breathy kiss. Those kisses of his made my insides dance. "I will go grab you a sandwich and water," Hawk stood and then headed back in the house. I looked down at the books, deciding on reading "The. History of Ancient Lands," first. I opened it to glance at the Table of Contents, the name Lyica stood out to me instantly. Going to the page it was numbered on, I found it to be a huge chapter. Hawk came back with my sandwich and a bottle of water. "Why does the name Lyica remind me of something?" I asked him as I was skimming the chapter. I heard nothing for a a while. I looked up to see, Hawk's frame was rigid, and his eyes were closed. "Did I say something wrong?" I asked him. "No, that land is a bit of a sore subject with me." Hawk's words strained and full of emotion. "I am sorry," I grabbed his hand as he opened his eyes to look at me. "I didn't mean to upset you or your beast." I gave him a worried look. "It is not your fault." Hawk shook his head, leaning down to kiss the top of my head. "It is the land that was blessed by the Goddess Leto, Princess Maya is her descendent." His voice tight but steady this time. "Ah, that is why it struck me as familiar." I squeezed his hand then brought it to my lips to kiss. I knew there was something going on there but I was not going to ask. His eyes had ringed red a bit when he first opened them. The very thought of it had sent him into almost a rage. I would try to remember to keep it out of conversations. I started to read about how the country was founded and how it was destroyed. Twin sisters Amelia and Amyra were to decide who would take the throne. Amelia was killed during a supernatural battle and Amyra disappeared. With no true leaders the land fell into ruin as the wars flowed between the parties who wanted to take over. It was during the time, that werewolves began to rise in power. True Lyicans became rarer and rarer as they inter mixed with the shifter populations. There other tidbits about it but nothing more as it seemingly just disappeared. I went back to the table of contents to see what one I wanted to read next. Instead I just started at the beginning of the first chapter. Letting the information I had read about Lyica stew in the back of my mind. I glanced at my sandwich and noticed that Hawk was not around. I suspected he was back in the office with Mato. He had been doing that a lot lately. I shrugged to myself and went back to my new book as I nibbled on my sandwich. ************ Hawk's POV ************ I didn't realize how the mention of Lyica would throw me into a rage so fast. No one including Amber knew why it did. Only Lilth knew my true history. She was not one to share about her reborn children. I was her favorite. I fed her, keeping her strength and youth alive as she wandered and used her powers as she seen fit. I seen that Amber had fallen into the book on the chapter of Lyica. Perhaps if she read it she would remember where she had heard it before. I walked back into the office with Mato and the pile of files we had gotten in from the warriors he had sent to get the first to vampires that had bought Amber. They were secured down in the prison below the house. They were asleep right now so asking them questions was pointless. But their files we hoped would give us insight into the name of the lab or any information on Amber. "She looked happy to get those. " Mato remarked on Amber's face when I had given her the books. "She was very eager to get started," I plopped down in the chair facing Mato. Grabbing my files I had been looking over I added. "I am sure she will be in them for at least a week." My lips tipped up, "I think we should have them make a habit of bringing any text or book they come across." "I agree, " Mato nodded. "I think she is trying to sort her own genetic past reading those books. While getting to know the world she knew nothing about." I watched Mato's eyes glance my way before going back to the papers in his hand. "Yes I think so." I started scanning the files in my own. "We will question those below after the sunsets." Mato mentioned before went back into his own pile of paper work. ********** Greetings Readers! Had some Tech issues with posting! I have more chapters coming up now that they have been sorted!  sorry for the delay! Much Thanks and Love, M. Merrill ***********
