Hawk's POV
I did not like the idea of Dex sneaking up on us. Knowing that was half the battle. I was blow away that Amber trusted me enough to do this. I would need to keep a tight hold on my beast, so that he did not scare Amber. I didn't care about Dex but Amber I wanted to save her from it.
I had gone down during dinner to walk past the dinning hall to see Dex there eating, I grabbed the trays that I had ask for. I gave him a smirk, as I walked back past. We ate, and I left the trays outside so, I could have Amber in my arms with no distractions. I enjoyed it way to much.
********
Both of us fell asleep together. I woke up to see her nestled into my chest in a relaxing sleep, I didn't want to wake her. Yet, we had a plan to do.
"Amber," I squeezed her quietly.
"Mmm" was her sleepy reply.
"We need to get up, for the plan. " I whispered near her ear.
"But I am so comfie," She tried to snuggle back to spot.
"Ma Cháñte," I kissed her forehead, dipping down I nibbled just behind her ear. She giggled and blocked me.
"That tickles," Amber's liquid green eyes fluttered open. "Ok," she sighed.
I opened my arms and she got up. I dressed, while Amber went in the closet to get changed. Coming out I seen one of my t-shirts landing mid though on her and leggings with black tennis shoes.
"Lets go," I grabbed her hand and we quietly left our room. Down stairs, we went in the kitchen grabbing some snacks and a water.
Then out the back door toward the forest and the spot by the stream. We sat there and ate the snacks while daylight broke. As we waited just a bit more.
"Ma Cháñte, I am going to leave you here. I will be watching in my beast form." I cupped her cheeks, as I seen worry cross her features. "I would never hurt you nor would my beast." I kissed her forehead. "Now sit down in that far corner where the boulder over hangs." I pointed to the little hidden spot that I knew she could fit into. "Stay there until you see me come back for you." I pulled her to me, as she grabbed my waist, and held on for all she was worth. I kissed the top of her head. Ushering her to the little nook, I took off past the circle of stones.
My beast let a howl rip through the forest. I made a circle to see if Dex had come. He did not. I trotted to a spot just above the circle. I could smell Amber below and hear her heart beat. The rocks above me hid my form in the shadows. I waited. Checking the smells, every so often. I heard a noise coming from the direction of the house. It was moving fast. Crouching I waited. A massive grey wolf darted from the trees. Stopping to sniff and look. It's nose sniffing our tracks. Then following mine as I shifted. The wolf raised his nose to the wind. I suspected he was looking for my beast. Amber, I heard sniffle. The sound drew the wolf's attention. He turned shifting to his human for. I seen he carried his clothes with him.
"Amber, is that you?" I heard Dex sweetly say. He walked slowly and quietly toward the little place I had told her stay. "Come out, there is something in the woods that I feel is evil." Inching closer and closer.
She said not a word. "Good girl," I thought in my head.
"Amber, honey we need to get out of here." He continued. I was lowering for an attack when I heard another animal approach. Dex stopped, walking back toward the sound.
"What are you doing here?" He hissed quietly. The sleek looking panther shifted, a tall lithe man with black hair and bright green eyes looked at Dex.
"Where is the girl?" He growled.
"She is over there, I was trying to draw her out." Dex snapped back.
"Just drag her out, I sense something deadly in this area." He looked around. His eyes passing over my hidden spot. "Did her mate mark her?" He hissed at Dex who had turned back to get Amber.
"Last time I seen her she did not have one. But," He paused. "They spent all day yesterday inside their room. I did not get the chance to see her." He shrugged.
"If she is marked, she will be useless to us. We will have to kill him too." Growled the guy.
They walked back toward the rocky out crop. "The scent is faded. She may not be here." Dex looked around.
"Dumb wolf, I can hear her heart beat in the little spot right there." Snarled the man.
The dark haired man stormed toward the spot when I jumped. I landed on them both with an audible snap. Both men groaned in pain.
"Why do you want Amber?" My beast growled at them.
"She was bred for me," The dark haired man whined.
"Bull s**t," my beast roared.
"She is the only surviving test subject for the breeding program" the man squealed as I dug my claws in deeper.
"Why do you want her?" the beast in me roared.
"We need to test how she lived. None of the others did." Pain inched along his words.
"Dex," I looked into his eyes. "why are you helping him?"
"He.. He... has my sister." He stuttered.
"You will report back and take your sister. I never want to lay eyes on you near Amber again." I snarled. Lifting my foot Dex scrabbled up and took off into the woods.
"We will kill you," the man was coughing blood as I applied more pressure.
"You won't," the beast huffed. "The girl is under Cacodemon's protection. Look for her and I will kill you." The Beast snapped his long fangs near the man's body. Slicing his skin.
"Once we have figured out how she stayed alive we can make you another one." the dark haired man pleaded. "I took her at 10 so she cannot do anything for you." Tears rolled from the man's eyes.
"Well, now you won't say a word, I will find another messenger." My beast shoved his whole weight down crushing the man's chest. You could hear him gurgle, I angled my muzzle to the side I ripped his head from his body. Throwing it into the distant trees. A howl ripped through my body, announcing death had returned to these woods. The breast eyed the hole I put Amber in. Giving me back control I shifted to my human form, Yanking the blood soaked shirt by tossing it to the ground. I walked toward her hiding spot.
