1687 Words
When morning came and Lilly had gotten dressed, she found the handsome stranger Aiden eating breakfast in the kitchen with her mother and father. She sat down and after they all ate, she went about the kitchen preparing food for Angelica. After packing it and getting ready to go, she and Aiden headed out to go see his mother. Even with Lilly's keen perception, she didn't notice that she and Aiden were being watched. As they walked, they talked and laughed, as if they had been friends all their lives. From a distance there was a storm brewing in someone else’s heart. Damian was watching Lilly and this new stranger walk through the town, and he felt his anger growing. Who did this man think he was trying to win the heart of Damian's soul mate? Damian had no intention of letting this happen and so disregarding the orders of the gods, he left his home and approached Lilly. “Good morning Lilly, how are you?” Damian asks smiling at her. The young man looked at him, unsure of what to say. Lilly on the other hand smiled, those feelings she had felt before were there and so much stronger than before. “Hello Damian, I'm doing well.” Lilly replies politely. “Where are you two headed this lovely day?” Damian asks. “Oh, well Aiden is here to visit him mother, you know Angelica, she’s sick right now and I'm taking her some food and showing him where she lives. Which we should probably get going so the food doesn't get cold.” Lilly say giving Damian a smile. “Well you be careful, I will see you later for dinner, your father has invited me over again and I can't resist your mother's cooking.” Damian tells her with a wink. “Well then we will see you tonight for dinner.” Lilly says. She and Aiden continue walking and she can't help but glance back and look at Damian for a few moments as he watches her walk away. Damian on the other hand wonders what she meant by 'we will see you at dinner' could this young man be trying to win her heart? Damian tried going about his business, but the more he thought about Lilly and the young man, the harder it was for him to focus. He was going to do it, he was going to tell her the truth about who he was, even if he wasn’t supposed to. Just as he made the decision to do so, he felt it. The presence of his father Anubis. “Father what are you doing here?” Damian asks. Anubis shakes his head, annoyance on his face, “You were warned Damian, no interfering, you may watch only. This is her chance to live and have her own life without having to worry about you or your feelings. Not to worry though, she will come looking for you soon enough. But that doesn't mean that you get to be with her. We warned you, so don't be foolish and do something you'll regret.” Anubis left just as quietly as he had come leaving Damian to think about his next steps. As he sat there Damian thought about what Anubis had said, that she would come to him, and he wondered if she already knew more than he thought she did... On the other side of town Lilly and Aiden finally reached Angelica's house. After knocking on the door, Lilly went in, “Angelica I'm here! And I've brought someone with me.” Lilly calls out as she steps in the door. She looks around and then looks at Aiden, “Something doesn't feel right to me.” Aiden nods, “I know the feeling, it feels weird in here.” Lilly set the food down and then she and Aiden went to look for Angelica. After searching everywhere downstairs they headed upstairs. As they got to Angelica's bedroom, they noticed the door was slightly open. Lilly pushed it open and walked in looking around. As she walked around the bed, she saw Angelica laying on the floor. She let out a gasp and dropped to her knees, she immediately checked for a pulse and upon finding one she let out a relieved sigh. But still, something wasn't right. “Angelica, can you hear me?” Lilly asks. Angelica didn't respond, and after putting her hand on Angelica's forehead, Lilly realized that if she didn't act quickly this woman would die. She needed to get Aiden out of the room. “Aiden go get me a washcloth and hot water. Please hurry.” Lilly tells him. Aiden rushes out of the room and starts looking, while Lilly works fast, she puts her hands on Angelica and whispers a quick incantation, her healing spell begins working slowly and she can see the color returning to Angelica's face, her breathing becomes more stable and her eyes begin to flutter open. Lilly quickly finishes her spell just as Aiden comes in with the hot water and towel. Lilly takes a cloth and soaks it in the water then wipes Angelica's face off. Angelica opens her eyes completely and looks at Lilly. “What happened?” She asks confused. “It’s okay Angelica, we found you passed out next to the bed, do you think you can stand?” Lilly asks her gently. Angelica nods and Lilly helps her up and into bed. “I think my fever got the best of me, I got up to go to the bathroom, and I think I passed out. I’m not sure how long I was there for.” After she finished speaking, she looked at Aiden and her eyes began tearing up, “Aiden, you're here.” Aiden smiled, “Hi mom, when I heard you were sick, I couldn’t stay away I wanted to make sure you were alright and take care of you.” “I’ll leave you two and go get you some food Angelica. I bet you’re hungry.” Lilly says quietly and then leaves the room. She went downstairs and got Angelica some of the soup she had brought. She waited until she didn't hear much talking and then she went back into the bedroom with the food. “Here you go, hopefully this will help you feel better.” Lilly says handing Angelica the hot soup. “Thank you, Lilly, you are too good to me. I feel a lot better than I have in the past few weeks. I feel like I’m completely fine now. I guess I just needed to rest.” Angelica says. Lilly smiles, there was no way she was about to tell her the truth about how she felt better. Lilly had cured her, after meeting Aiden she didn't want him to have to bury his mother. “Well, I have a lot of things to do today, apparently father has invited Damian over again.” Lilly says shaking her head. Angelica lets out a quiet laugh, “So that's who your father is trying to marry you off to. As much as I like our mayor, I wish you could be free to find love and be your own person. Arranged marriages are so old fashioned.” Lilly laughs, “Yes they are, besides I'm only sixteen so even if he does choose someone for me at least I will have a couple of years to get to know them. But who knows?” Lilly turns to Aiden, “It was really nice to meet you, and don't forget you are joining us for dinner tonight. Angelica if you feel up to it feel free to come. I really don't want it to just be my family and Damian. I could use some backup.” Lilly says giving him a wink and then laughing and walking off. Aiden smiled and watched her go then turned to his mother, “I’m glad you feel better mother.” Angelica smiled, “If Lilly hadn't of used magic, I would be dead right now, but that's not something that she needs to know. Lilly has no idea that I know what she is. Just as she doesn't know what I am or what you are for that matter. But Aiden, you need to be careful, I see the way you look at her, and if her father is doing what she thinks he is and trying to marry her off to Damian you need to be careful. Damian is powerful and if he sees you as a threat, he can make life very difficult for you.” Aiden nods, “Thanks for the advice mother, I doubt she even thinks of me like that.” Angelica laughs, “It's very hard to not look at your soulmate like that my son.” Aiden shook his head and was confused and it left him wondering if that was why he felt a certain way around her. Lilly walked home and as she walked home, she tried to sort out her feelings. How she felt about Damian and how she felt about Aiden were so confusing. The feelings were the same and yet somehow different. The one thing she did know, one of them knew the secret to immortality and she was going to find out who... That night at dinner, a lot of things were revealed to Lilly without her needing them spoken. Damian was her true love; she couldn't deny that she loved everything about him. He was tall, dark, handsome, and incredibly intelligent. But it was more than that, she felt like her magic called out to him. She could feel it reaching out to his, and his power reaching back wanting to intertwine and become one. That night after he left, Lilly dreamed. When she awoke the next morning, she knew that this would change things, what she was going to do was going to alter the course of the future for not just her, but for Damian and maybe even Aiden...
