After arriving home and going to bed, they were all surprised when a terrible rainstorm came and there was a loud knock on the door. Lilly sat up in bed and then got up and put on her robe and went to go see what the banging noise was. Her father hadn't gone to sleep yet and she looked at him as he answered the door. There standing in the pouring rain was a young man. He had to of been only eighteen or nineteen. He was shivering under his trench coat.
“I’m sorry to bother you sir, but I got caught in the storm and got lost, I saw your light in the window and came here to see if I could get dry and wait for the storm to pass.” The young man says to her father.
Her father nods, “Come in son before you catch a cold. Here sit by the fire while I have my daughter get you some towels.” Lilly nods and quickly goes to the closet where the towels are kept. She grabs a few along with extra clothes of her father’s then heads back into the living room.
“Here you go, the clothes may be a bit big but they are dry. There is a bathroom down the hall to the right where you can change. I’ll make you some hot coffee, or hot cocoa or tea, whichever you prefer.” Lilly says, she is having a hard time taking her eyes off him. Something is drawing her to him.
He looks at her and takes the clothes and towels, “Thank you, some hot cocoa sounds really good right now, if you don’t mind.”
Lilly smiles and nods then heads to the kitchen to make him a drink. Her mother comes into the kitchen after finding out what happened. She looks at Lilly and can see that there is something in her eyes.
“Is that him Lilly?” Vanessa asks.
Lilly smiles, “I don't know, all I know is I have this strange feeling around him. It's the same strange feeling I get around Damian, but for some reason I feel more compelled to act on my feelings around this guy than I do Damian.”
Vanessa has a concerned look on her face, “What do you mean by the feelings you get around Damian?”
Lilly shrugs, “There is something familiar around him, it's as if I know him from somewhere but I can’t put my finger on it. I feel drawn to him. But another part of me is like a siren warning me to stay away from him.”
Vanessa runs a hand through her hair, “I'm not sure what this all means but we can look into it and find out. For now, though let’s find out as much as we can about this young man, I will give you father something to make him sleep so we won't be disturbed.”
Lilly smiles, “Well I am making hot cocoa for everyone.”
Vanessa smiles and then says a few words over the cup for her husband. After they finish making the drinks, she and Lilly go into the living room where the young man is sitting talking to Lilly's father.
Lilly hands him his cup of cocoa and then gives her father his cup. She and Vanessa sit down and join in the conversation.
“So, what is your name?” Lilly asks the young man.
“Oh, I'm sorry how rude of me, my name is Aiden Brodean.” He tells her.
Lilly's father smile at him, “I'm Michael, this is my wife Vanessa and my daughter Lilly. You can stay here for the night, we have a guest room you can sleep in, while you wait for the storm to pass.”
A few moments later Michael's eyes glassed over and he mindlessly got up and went to bed. Vanessa smiled at Aiden, “Sorry about that he gets tired fairly quickly. So where are you from?”
Aiden smiled, “I originally come from Arizona, but a few weeks ago I got a call and started heading here. My mom got sick I'm on my way to see her. I was looking for a town called Salem, but I got lost in the storm.”
Lilly smiled, “Well it seems you got lucky, this is Salem. What's your mother's name perhaps we know her. It's not a very big town here.”
Aiden replied, “Her name is Angelica Brodean. She was living here with my father until he got sick and died. I was caring for my grandparents, until I found out mother was sick, then I came here right away.”
“I thought your last name sounded familiar, we know Angelica, we knew your father to. It was sad when he died. I was planning on taking some food over to your mother tomorrow, I can take you there if you'd like.” Lilly tells him.
“I would appreciate that very much. Thank you.” Aiden responds happily.
Vanessa knew that this was the son that had been sent away as a child by Angelica, because he couldn't control his magic and his mother did not want to risk him being exposed. Lilly on the other hand didn't know that, but she could feel the power flowing through him and she wondered if he knew he had power.
That would be something she would discover soon, she excused herself and went to bed. The feelings she was getting being around him were confusing her, especially since these were the same feelings, she got around Damian. Maybe just maybe she had been wrong in calling out to her soul mate. Deep down Lilly knew the truth, the truth she was afraid to admit even to herself.
She had more than one soul mate, and now they were both right in front of her...
