As strict as their fathers were Lillian swore, they were blind. There were witches all around them and they never caught on. As her powers grew so did her ability to sense magic in others. The one person she never expected to sense it in was the most interesting of all.
Damian Glandaire, the town mayor. Lillian had seen him around town and had never given him a second look, but now that her ability to sense magic had become potent, she could feel the power flowing in him. There were other girls in town as well and it was with them that Lilly began to build her coven of witches. There was strength in numbers when it came to magic and she knew that for what she planned she would need help.
Months passed and finally she managed to build a coven of thirteen, aunt and cousin. None in her coven had anywhere near the amount of power as she did but still, they were gifted. Lilly and her cousin Ruby had been spending a lot of time in the woods. There deep in the trees they began to build a large home using magic. Lilly wanted to have a place of safety for her coven and as her coven began to fall into place so did the completion of their secret home.
The large home had fifteen rooms all with their own bathrooms, a large kitchen with an endless food supply. There were two sitting areas, and a fireplace with a place to swim out back. When it was finally finished Lilly showed the coven members how to get there.
She and Ruby had put wards up to keep anyone from finding it that meant to harm a witch or that did not have witch's blood. Finally, the day came to celebrate the completion of the coven safe house. The coven celebrated in their new safe place and Lilly wished the party could last forever. They for the first time truly got to be free to be themselves, but as the night ended Lilly made an announcement.
“A month from now when the moon is at its peak, we are going to perform our first spell as a coven. As the time gets closer, I will explain more, but until then conserve your energy, no magic...”
Although it was an odd request, they all agreed to it. They had to be careful anyways, but even then, most of them would use magic when they could. So, for a month it would be that no power was to be used. Lilly knew this would help make her spell powerful, but little did she realize how powerful it would be. The night before the full moon proved to be quite interesting. Her father had invited the mayor Damian over for dinner.
Her father was an ambitious man, and it was her father's desire that the mayor's eyes would fall on his only daughter and he would want to marry her. Even though he'd never admit it power was important to him. Lilly was quiet most of the evening, she had this strange feeling that she knew Damian from somewhere, he was familiar but at the same time he wasn't.
Damian on the other hand knew exactly who and what Lilly was. He knew that this beautiful quiet witch was his Bastet, and he couldn't do anything about it. The dinner felt like it dragged on forever. It was torture for Damian to ignore his feelings, especially when she kept looking at him.
When the dinner was over, he left and returned home feeling completely down and in full despair. But this was part of his punishment and he would accept it. Even if it meant not getting what he wanted. Lilly on the other hand was about to do something that would throw their entire world into turmoil and she didn't even know it...
