‘I thought he was going okay,’ Vince said. ‘I figured you’d kick him out of the unit and into the wards today.’
‘Oh yeah,’ said Danny with a wry laugh. ‘He got away with the overdose, all right, but I’ve just got his path back. He’s both Hep B and Hep C positive, and by the look of his liver function tests he’s already got significant parenchymal liver damage and is in hepatic failure. Too far gone for drug treatment.’
‘No surprises there, Danny. Emu’s been an IV drug user for years.’ Vince cast his mind back to Emu’s file at the clinic. ‘I think we knew he was positive for Hep C.’
