“I really hope you’re hurrying,” I muttered to Katherine as I thumbed my last number 5 silver into the warlock’s chamber. By my estimate, I had just enough time to charge up the shot and then switch back to the XMR before the two were on me. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I started my warlock’s charge, only a soft thrum through my suit, before I’d even finished raising it to aim. Robotics transports aren’t generally armored, and my target wasn’t far away, so as long as I had the general direction I’d do enough damage. I leveled my aim just as the ’lock finished its charge up and started the quick down cycle before it fired. The blast ripped through the thin atmosphere of the moon, blowing the fine dust from below out in all directions as the beam rushed forward in a mass of tumbling energy.
