With pains in her voice and tears in her eyes, Ava started speaking “What do you want me to say, Mia?, that I'm tired of Derek? That I feel like giving him a piece of my mind, or that I stopped loving him but still can't let go of him because of all he had done for me in the past? Huh…tell me girl, what do you want me to say exactly?”
“I know all this already, girl. I just need your permission to deal with this guy in my own way. Hasn't he caused enough harm to you? Why are you still holding onto him? No matter how grateful you are to him, can't you also see that you have tried to pay him back for what he has done for you or do you have to give up your life for him?” Mia was so angry at her friend and most of all Derek she wanted to kill that bastard, but her friend was so protective of him.
Ava burst into tears as she couldn't think of anything else to say.
“My life is so messed up, Mia, I don't have anyone or anything to my name anymore” Ava wept.
“Stop crying darling, you know I'm here for you all the time, so stop crying, you have me, so you don't need any other son of a b***h in your life. I am a family girl”. Mia tried consoling her best friend not to give up on life.
“I'm tired, Mia, I am tired of everything. I'm tired of life itself” Ava couldn't control herself anymore. As tears rolled down her eyes.
Mia gave her a big hug as she started patting her back. “Let it all out dear”.
Twenty minutes later…..
Mia was done comforting Ava, as they both sat down on the couch in Mia's sitting room sipping a glass of juice, since Ava wasn't the kind to drink, so Mia didn't bother to bring alcohol for them to take.
“Mia, I don't think I can go home these evenings again. Should I just stay here?” Ava asked in a weak tone.
“Sure babe, I don't even want you going back to that motherfu*ker” Mia said, like she could strangle Derek at that moment if he was present with them.
“Miaaaa….” Ava called her slowly
“Don't mimic me, you know i'm right that dude doesn't deserve you, sweetie, but I'm not going to say no s**t no more, just what's important right now, girl, when are you going to get back to working again. You quit the part-time job a few months ago, and now you're a practical jobless job, that's why that son of a fool thinks he can toss you anyhow because he feels you can't live without him now”, mia said, seriously trying to convince Ava to take her life serious again.
“Girl not now please” Ava pleaded, knowing Mia wasn't going to give up the conversation.
“When then? Until you are old and can't work anymore! Babe, I know how much you love working as a corporate worker, so why don't you just give yourself the chance to do what you love doing again and this time around I will make sure that son of a bit*h called Derek does not try anything stupid to stop you again” needs Mia tried assuring Ava that she need not worry and just focus on doing her thing.
“Fine! fine! fine! Mia, I will work, but you know I can't just walk into any company or office and start working like that, right? I would need to look for companies who are looking for employees and probably write lots of applications and attend lots of interviews before I get a job again” Ava said to Mia, with an expression that showed that she had a long way to go.
Mia had a mischievous smile on her face as she said “. Then why don't you start with this”. Mia turned her phone screen toward Ava, revealing a chat with one of her friends.
“What is this, Mia?”
“Well, well, well, have you forgotten who I really am? I mean it's MIA babe and no hot news spreads without passing through your baby girl right here”, Mia said with all confidence as she sat up and faced Ava. Well, one of my friends happens to work at a very big company. What's the name of that company again? Huhh… E. T VENTURES, yeah that's it and I heard that the CEO of that company is currently looking for a secretary and boom, when you came to my mind, girl, I think you should apply.”
“What? E.T VENTURES? You mean that E. T VENTURES. Everyone knows?” Ava asked out of shock.
“Yes girl it is.”
“Hahaha girl, and you think i should apply? Are you kidding me right now? I am not even close to being qualified to work as a clearance there not to talk to the CEO secretary! Naaaa girl, this can't happen” Ava said as she picked up her phone and ignored Mia.
“Jezz girl, just try, I'm not saying you are going to be accepted. I just say you should try and apply first, then if you aren't, we will look for other companies that are in need of workers. Let's just use these for a starter, what do you say girl?” Mia tried to convince Ava.
“I think this is just a waste of time!” Ava said with all certainty.
“Then let's waste our time girl, come on, bring your phone and let me help you fill the form first” Mia quickly snatched Ava's phone from her hand as she quickly went to the website her friend had told her the interview screening questions would be uploaded to.
“Jezz, I can't believe I can still keep up with you” Ava said sarcastically and they both started laughing.
