A Deal With A Grey-eyed Angel

IRIS POV

Smoke and ash was all I could see. From a distance, I heard the screams of terror and pain of people. The clashes of weapons and the shrill cry of defeat made my flesh crawl.

I was bruised from head to toe and was barely walking.

The muddy and wet ground made it more difficult for me move.

Due to the foggy weather, I didn’t see the pool of blood where dead bodies had been dumped and to my utmost shock, one of the bodies came alive and gripped my leg.

Despite the cuts and wounds on the body, I recognized my father in an instant.

His whole face was swollen and red and one of his eyes bulged out of its socket. He was murmuring the words, ‘Help me’ repeatedly but I knew that there was nothing I could do, so I shut my eyes and took in courage to move past him. But then his grip on my leg tightened.

I tried to force my legs out but my efforts were in vain.

He began to pull me down into the pool of blood and I suddenly felt weak in the knees. I begged him to let go of me but he didn’t and kept on pulling me.

I was going down slowly and trying my best to fight and pull myself back up.

The water was about to swallow me up and I was screaming and begging for help but there was no one in sight.

The force from below doubled and I was finally dragged into the bloody dirt water.

With each second that passed, I knew that my chances to survive were declining.

I couldn’t breathe anymore and was drowning.

In despair, I looked up and I saw the figure of a man.

He stuck his hand into the water, grabbed my hand and pulled me back up.

I immediately gagged all the dirt water I had taken in and gasped out for breath.

When my fluttering eyes regained proper sight, I saw him. It was the same man from all my dreams and he had saved me once again.

Before I could say a word to him, he faded away into the smoke and ash.

“Don’t go!” I pleaded but he was already gone. Few moments after, I heard the shrilling roar of a beast from behind me and just about when it was about to pounce, I woke up screaming and panting with sweat pouring down my face like I had just taken a bath.

I sighed in relief when I noticed that the frightening momster that had woken me up was merely the creaking sound of my cell gates.

I could hear footsteps approaching. They weren’t as heavy or calm or slow like the Alpha’s but they still made me frantic.

A thought popped in my mind and it brought an instant chill to my heart. What if he is coming? What if he is here to save me?

As quickly as they had appeared, all those happy thoughts died the moment a flash light beamed at me.

I couldn’t see much but from the physique of the man at my front, I knew it wasn’t my dream man.

This man was more muscular, a few inches taller and had golden hair which fell beautifully over his face, partially covering his left eye.

His greyish blue eyes twinkled in the darkness like stars in the night sky and I was left wondering which Angel had graced me with his presence.

But the moment he opened his mouth, I knew that this was no angel.

“Hi b***h!!” He uttered with a demeaning tone.

My facial expression darkened in anger and even Azara wasn’t pleased with the manner he addressed me.

“What do you want?” I asked.

He smirked. “I came to pact a deal with you.”

“And what is that?”

His gorgeous eyes scanned me from head to toe and stopped on my slightly exposed thighs. “Sex.”

Azara was mad and wanted to pounce on the man and tear him limb from limb but I calmed her down.

“And?” I asked.

With a sneer on his face, he rose a piece of clothing in his hand and threw it on my face. “You get to keep that.” He concluded.

A low growl escaped my throat as I took the dress off my face.

“Calm down, baby girl.” He said in mockery. “I know you want it so stop being shy.”

Azara was fuming inside. “Let’s shut him up,”

I ignored her.

“And what would I do for you in return?” I asked him.

“You wouldn’t be doing anything for me, darling. Take it as a double favour. Grant me safe passage through your legs and you get to keep the dress.”

I couldn’t control myself anymore as I burst into laughter.

He looked at me in confusion. “What’s so funny?”

“You,” I said as I gained control of myself. “Why would I need a dress when I would soon be with the Alpha’s son.”

His shook his head and laughed. “You mean Aiden, my brother?”

“Yeah,” I replied, happy to know his name.

“Well I know for certain that Aiden would never want you so it would be safer to stop having dreams and take up my offer while you have the chance.”

“Hmm, no,” I said.”But anyways thanks for stopping by.”

His face folded into a frown and that dashingly handsome face became scary. “Who do you think you are?”

“Not your whore.” I replied.

His expression remained inscrutable for a while before he chuckled. “You got some attitude… I like that.”

I laid back on the ground and shut my eyes. “Thanks for the visit, sir.”

He turned around and began to walk away but then he stopped after a few meters. “What do you want from me?”

I opened my eyes and smiled. “That depends on what you really want from me.”

He was quiet for a while before he cleared his voice and spoke out. “I need goodluck.””

“What does that have to do with me?”

He shrugged. “Apparently that lies between your legs so…”

I laughed out again and this time it took me over a minute to get a hold of myself.

He looked quite embarrassed and for a smug and arrogant man, I was sure that it must have hurt his ego so much.

“If favour and luck is what you want then all I can do is to send a prayer for you to the goddess.”

From the sigh he gave out, it was clear to me that he wasn’t a believer and I wasn’t surprised because I had heard over and over about the faithless northerners.

“Would that work?” He asked

I shrugged. “I can’t say but I am the blessed wolf and I am the closest mortal to the goddess.”

“Okay, do your prayer thing then,” He turned around and began to walk away.

“Hold on!” I called out to him.

He turned around. “What again?”

“You didn’t ask me what I wanted in return or did you think I would pray for an enemy for free?”

His frown deepened. “And what do you want? Food? A bath? What could you possibly need in this cell?”

“I want everything you mentioned and also a free pass to your brother’s place…”

“What!!” He exclaimed in shock.

I smiled. “His bedroom to be more specific.”
