The monster

Rena knew she’s never met the nurse before, but there were a couple of nurses transferred each week. There was no way she could know all their names. “I…I do not know…I don’t know her name,” Rena said with a shaking voice. “Wow! A strange nurse gives you a tray of food and you feed it to a patient without question. Is this how naive you are? Was this how you almost killed your child?!” the manager frowned. “Mind your words, sir!” Dr Ferd defended. “Rena is just a patient trying to help other patients. She is not an employee. She won’t know everyone. Don’t blame her for being a kind person.” “O! Please! If she just stayed in her lane, all this wouldn't have happened. No one told her to be nice and sweet to people. This ward would have functioned well without her anyway. Now she is seeing things and making up stories. Wow! Just wow! She is taking us as fools now.” the manager frowned. “You aren’t looking in her perspective. Sir, it’s possible a spy nurse was transferred to this hospital to frame her. A knife might have been fixed under the tray or something. This was a clean set up,” Dr Ferd tried to explain, but the manager wasn't ready to listen. “Strangers aren’t allowed here and all nurses wear name tags. Let me guess, the nurse she saw had no name tag on her.” Rena thought hard and realized the nurse didn’t. Then she knew she was screwed. “I knew it,” the manager turned away from her. “It’s not my fault this hospital has terrible security,” she roared. “Dr Ferd, your patient has crossed all limits. Her records might not show it, but she is either evil or she is straight up crazy. A level of craziness, even research hasn’t identified yet,” the manager hissed. “So, the murder won’t be investigated,” Dr Ferd was disappointed. “There is nothing to investigate,” the manager shook his head. “Rena should be happy she isn't going to jail. That would be life imprisonment.” Rena felt her world collapse. Her body dropped to the floor as her eyes flooded in tears. “Why won’t you all listen to me? I didn't do anything. They framed me. I swear. It was all my in-laws,” her voice broke. Dr Ferdinand helped her up. “Rena, get a grip of yourself,” “Please help me. I don’t want to go there,” she pleaded. “You believe me right?” “Rena, relax…please,” the doctor tried to calm her. “Do you believe me?” she insisted. The doctor paused for a while. He avoided her gaze. “I will try my best to get you out,” he said with a soft tone. “So, you do not believe me then,” she stepped away from him. “I can’t do anything for you right now. All evidence is directed against you. There is nothing I can do for you now,” he explained. “You are all the same! All of you!” she turned to the rest of the employees. “You all work for those people. You set me up on purpose!” “Rena….” “Let go of me!” she pushed Dr Ferdinand down to the floor, and tried escaping through the doctors and nurses shielding the door. She was grabbed by a nurse and forced towards the exit immediately. As she kicked and fought, her eyes caught sight of the nurse standing in the hallway and smiling at her craftily. “It’s her!” she screamed. “She is the one!”
