Burnt Skies

Chapter 4

As I'm driving home i cant not notice the neighbors house, its a huge mansion with a flower garden and roses in the front by the doors.

When i pull into our drive way i see a new car, i park my car and head inside.

As i head inside i see that my moms not home and i look over to see my brother and some girl cuddling on the sofa, it dosnt really surprise me though cause he brings alot of random girls home.

"So i see you two are comfy"

All my brother has to say is "dont tell mom"

I head upstairs to my room and lay on my bed, i cant help but think about Brody and how it would be funny if he lived next door since i heard his parents are rich and this is a decently rich area.

As I'm laying on my bed my eye lids start to get heavy and i fall asleep.

Waking up in a daze, i hear knocking on the front door.

"I GOT IT" i yelled jumping up

My brother probably wasn't home anyway, he usally goes over to the girls house after he shows them our house for some odd reason

*Down stairs*

I open the door to see a lady holding a pie and a little girl thats probably about 6 with someone behind her.

"Hello im Clair, im your neighbor" she says nicely

"Hi im Carmen, its nice to meet you" i say with a smile

"You look about the same age as my son" she replies

Sure enough Brody was pulled out from behind Clair and the little girl.

Brody just smiled at me "hey Carmen"

"You two know eachother?" Clair asked surprised

"Yeah" we both say in sync

"Well we just wanted to introduce ourselves and give you this pumpkin pie as a welcome to the neighborhood"

"Oh my favorite, thats so sweet of you, thank you so much" i say with a smile.

"Well i guess we will be going" she starts you walk back

Brody just stood there and stared at me "you coming Brody or you just gonna stay here" Clair asked

Brody smirked and said "i think ill keep Carmen company for now mom"

She smiled and replied with "ok you two have fun, and not that kind of fun Brody!"

"Mom i get it ok" he huffed

Clair just laughed and said "be home by at least 7" she then walked back home.

Brody turned to me "can i come in?"

I just laughed and said "oh yeah sorry about that"

"Come in"

"Thanks"

"Yep" i go in the kitchen, get a bag of chips and sit on the couch just leaving him standing in the door way.

"Well you can sit down you know" i point at the other couch, he then comes and sits next to me.

He scoots closer and closer till our sides are touching then he turns to look at me and smirks, by that time i was already starting to feel uncomfortable so I scooted a little further away

"I saw Britney come up to you at lunch" he said while rubbing the back of his neck

"Oh so thats her name, whats up with you and her?" i ask trying to hold in my disgust at the mention of her

He turns and looks at the t.v. then gets up and starts to put his shoes on.

"Hello, earth to Brody, i asked you whats up with you and that Britney chick?"

"I heard what you said Carmen, i just dont want to talk about it now, I'll see you at school tomorrow, bye"

He starts walking out and i yell "wait Brody!"

"What Carmen?" He sighs somewhat frusterated

"Umm nevermind"

"Fine, bye I'll see you at school"

He closes the door then walks back to his house

I run up to my room, i cant help but wonder why he got all upset when i mention what was up with him and Britney.

Laying on my bed i just ponder my thoughts

*Brody's POV*

As i walk home i wonder why she brought up me and Britney and what was up with us.

As i walk in my house i can smell chicken cooking.

"Brody i didnt expect you to be home this early" my mom yells from the kitchen.

"Well mom, i am just dont worry about it" i say annoyed

"Oh someone's not in the mood today"

"Mom im going up stairs, im not hungry so dont call me down to eat"

"Are you sure?" She asks concerned

"Yes" i reply blankly

I run up stairs into my room and lay on my bed, i turn my t.v on and i fall fast asleep.
