Chapter 5 - Fire Burns

The loud ding of the elevator indicating that we finally reached Kaïzer's office, snapped me out of my daydreaming. My entire body trembled with fright as I could only imagine what would have happened if that thing made it to us before the doors closed. Kaïzer pushed me inside, rubbing his fingers through his hair in frustration. "How the hell did it pass the borders?" His eyes glazed over the same eerie shade of Emerald green. He spoke the question to me but it seemed as if he received the answer from someone else, someone that most definitely wasn't in this room. Suddenly, he pushed me under his expensive desk, taking off his blazer and flashing his fangs as if he was prepared for battle. "The Lethal is heading our way, Lavender." "I thought we lost it!" His laugh echoed throughout the building, but it was dry and humorless. I wished that he never laughed at all. "I thought so too, but they are getting smarter, it traveled up the elevator after us." "How did you-" "Listen, this is no time for chit-chat, that thing is going to come in here and it's not for picnics! It's here to rip us to shreds. Now when it enters I'll hold it off for as long as possible and you'll run, you hear me?" The loud knocking of my knees and my harsh breaths had Kaïzer sighing, he quickly went over to me and pushed me into the farthest corner of the room. "I'm the one doing the fighting Lavender, you have nothing to worry about. Now, do as I say and we'll both make it out alive ohk?" I had no time to reply as a scorching heat filled the room, but the Lethal wasn't inside as yet which only meant that it was waiting for us on the other side of the elevator door. Kaïzor got up, claws extended and fangs elongated, ready for battle. He flashed his Ruby's at me giving me a sense of comfort, but only a slight one as my heart still skyrocketed through my chest and my knees still wobbled. The heat in the room was intoxicating, I felt weak. My body was tired from the constant fear that I held onto. "Y-ye- No, no, I can't do this!" His scolding look had me stilling instantly. "Well it's too late now isn't it?" As soon as the words left his mouth, the loud ding of the elevator sounded. There in front of us stood the same Lethal that hunted Karla and I down. Its eyes held anger and hunger. Its height towered us all as it extended its own claws squaring up to Kaïzer. The strange thing about it was that its eyes were only trained on me. It stared deeply into my soul. I shivered involuntarily, and not in a good way. I wanted to curl up into a ball and will the world away. Before Kaïzer could even attack the beast. It incanted a spell, one that I didn't realize. One that formed an enormous fireball in its hands. One that blasted Kaïzer straight out of the huge window in his beautiful office. The office was being burned to a crisp by the heat that the Lethal emitted. Its eyes smiled at my fear, at my trembling knees, and my sweating frame. Its animalistic grunts almost came off as a hearty laugh as it charged for me. I screamed b****y murder as my legs decide to have a mind of their own. They ran, swerving the deadly impact of the Lethal and I. They ran straight outside the broken window but the Lethal didn't give up as it jumped after me. My screams alerted everyone of where the beast was. There on the floor layed Kaïzer and the other wolves that I have met before. My fingertips felt the pressure of my fall as my heart fell into my stomach. I fell onto the soft grass with the Lethal hot on my tail. I felt as if I had broken every bone in my body but I still headed straight towards the river, the only familiar place in this pack land. Jumping in with no hesitation, the same strange transition happened. I was no longer in the Night Howler's pack, now I was in the Krynsín Forest, running for my life. Huge fireballs grazed past my skin, burning the flesh was in its way, leaving crimson scorches behind. The awful aroma of burned flesh indicated how badly the Lethal wanted to end my life. It was undoubtedly painful as I held my arm from the impact. My hair flowed with the wind as my feet dashed and dodged through the colorful trees. Tears leaked out of my eyes. I was afraid. Afraid to die, afraid to fall, afraid of everything. "Lavender!" Someone said. The voice seemed to come from my head, as there was no one around me except for the Lethal inches behind. The tears blurred my vision as I tripped and fell down the cliff ahead, falling into the mouth of another river. My thighs tore open at the impact of sharp river stones sinking into my flesh. Blood spilled everywhere flowing into the river, turning it crimson. "AHHHH!" My screams mixed with my sobs as I pleaded to the moon for mercy. I couldn't bear this it. I pushed myself further into the cool water that nurtured my injuries when I noticed that the Lethal jumped in after me. "NO! NO! PLEASE!" The Lethal was relentless. I could hardly move and prayed to the moon to get me out of the situation. I could only rely on the water to lead me away from the monster. Its heat created hot bubbles from the cool water as it swam. Vigorously parting the water to make way towards me. Its heavy grunts and animalistic laughs had the tears flowing like a waterfall. My hands were holding the gashes left behind on my thighs as my raw cheeks accommodated the tears. "Lavender, hold your hands out!" It sounded like...a girl, my age. My tears halted as I looked around once more but there was no one around, no one at all. "Stop trying to find me you i***t! Just turn around and hold your hands out towards the Lethal! Use your magic for christ's sake, you're a damn Faery!" She yelled frustratingly. I totally forgot that I could use mother nature to my advantage. I stopped and turned around wiping my raw cheeks and clearing my blurry eyes from the tears. The lethal was only a couple of feet away from me swimming violently. "Erècouvé Carvenoir!" Strong and steady vines began to twist and turn around the creature, slowly encasing it. "Swim!" I looked around confused at the command. "What? Why would I run, the creature is tied u- " "Snap!" One of the strong vines broke from the strength of the vicious creature. It twisted and turned around in the water as I hurried to swim further away. Suddenly, a huge heatwave surged from the power of the beast as it burned the vines from its body, continuing its quest. "Stop! Only fire magic can kill this creature as it's forged from it." I remember the words my mother told me about the Lethals, but how could I use fire magic? I am an earth faery! It seemed as if the girl heard me as she huffed before speaking again. "Listen to me, you're going to hold your hands out again and repeat these words, 'Halexinious Ecouver'!" "What! That's a fire spell, how the hell will I, an EARTH faery yield fire!" "Oh for the love of- Just do it!" "Now Lavender!" She demanded. I turned around, the creature only seconds away from ripping my skin cold off of my body. My hands flew out in front of me as it raised its monstrous claws ready to make me history. "Halexiniois Ecouver!" Suddenly, my palms felt intensely hot, my whole body started to burn from the inside out. Hot tears spewed out of my eyes as a huge fireball formed in my hands. Searing hot, with lava dripping off of its surface I pushed my hands forward once more sending the huge ball straight for the bloodthirsty creature. Painful screeches spewed out of its mouth like a sad song, until it eventually disintegrated. "H-How did I do that," "Oh honey, there's a lot more that you can do than shoot fire," "A lot more," She concluded.
