Chapter 15

1424 Words
Helena is sitting at the back of Valerie’s car while they are travelling back home. She’s looking at the forwarded message from Victoria. She feels angry towards her. Why now? Why now that she already accepted that she doesn’t want to talk to her. Why now that she doesn’t want to talk to her either. What will she do now? Because of anger, she deleted the message. Never will she be going to meet her. The thought of Victoria swept away from her head. She and Valerie are busy on things about the restaurant expancion. She’s been the right hand of Valerie and her trusted friend. Being buried at work helped her in forgetting. The next morning, she goes to work like normal days. She focuses on her work at Valerie. For a long time, she only thought of helping Valerie and meeting other friends just like before she met Victoria. Her and Valerie have their nightlife together drinking, chitchatting, meeting friends and having fun. At their age, enjoying is one of their to-do-lists. “Helena, are you not supposed to meet Vicz later?” Valerie asks her while they are making a list of things for the sellar. “Maybe not. We are busy here.” She answered but the truth is she forgot about it because she doesn’t have a plan on doing so. Why would i? She told herself. Valerie frowned. She’s wondering why all of a sudden she’s not excited to meet Victoria. Even though she’s busy, she can still make time to meet her. Now, Valerie feels that something is wrong between the two. “Are you avoiding her? What happened? Is there something I don’t know?” Her questions for her friend. “Nothing. I’m just busy.” She answered without even looking at her. She makes herself busy checking what wine is missing. Helena tries to lie even more. “Then meet her if nothing is wrong. I am giving you permission. Take the day off after this.” Valerie insists on meeting her sister. She knows that something is wrong between the two and they have to sort it out as soon as possible. She loves them both and she doesn’t want that one of these days, she will be in the middle of two rocks. “Okay.” Helena answered shortly. She doesn’t want to argue anymore. She said that just to stop Valerie from asking more questions. But still, she has no plan on meeting Victoria. After they finished sorting things in the sellar, Helena went home. She threw herself on the sofa. Stretched her arms and tried to clear her mind. Then she suddenly got up, changed into her skinny jeans and white shirt and wore her baseball cap. Grabs her key on the counter and goes out of the house. While she’s driving, she’s calling a friend. She wants to meet her and talk to her. She already made up her mind, she will not meet Victoria. She and her friend meet in a pub. She orders a glass of beer while she waits for Karen, her friend. “Helena!” Karen greeted her when she saw her. “Hello, Karen. Thanks for coming.” “Is there something wrong?” Karen asks her immediately. She knows Helena very well too. She will not call her at this hour just for a drink. “Na-ah! I just want to have a drink and chat with you. It’s been awhile since we didn’t do this.” She explained to her. Karen doesn't want to make her feel pressured so she sits beside her and they have a drink. Meanwhile, Victoria is trying to finish all the things she has to do before leaving her office. It seems like the day passes by so long. She is excited to see and talk to Helena. Though she is not even sure if she will meet her or not. No confirmation from her or from her sister. Even though she wants to take a risk. She will go there to their meeting place and wait for her. She tries to gather her courage and all the things she wants to say to her. She wants her back like they used to be. It’s six pm. She gets ready to go out. She applied more mascara and a bit of blush on and lipstick. She wants to look presentable. She sprayed her favorite perfume, Chloe. Then off she goes. She set the meeting time to half past six. It’s only a fifteen minutes drive from her office. When she arrives, no sight of Helena. She checks her time. It was five minutes early so she decided to sit at the table she reserved. She got the table inside so people can’t see them easily. It is the best table she can get. “What do you want to drink, Ma’am?” The waiter asks her. “Can you give me a glass of wine while I wait for my friend?” She answered and sitted. Her heart feels nervous. It’s been more than a month that she hasn't seen Helena and also she doesn’t know if she will come or not. And if she comes, she’s not sure if the conversation will go well. Her glass of wine arrives. She took a sip and silently waited. Suddenly her phone rings. She grabs it assuming that it’s Helena. But no, it’s Cedrick. He’s asking her if she’s home. She answered him and told him she will be home a bit later because she will meet a friend. Cedrick said okay. Ten minutes have passed. No Helena. She also finished her glass of wine. The waiter poured one more glass in it. Helena was never late but she understood. After ignoring her and avoiding her for weeks, she has all the right to get angry at her. But there is this scared feeling in her heart that she might not come. She let out a deep sigh. She will wait more. Waiting is the hardest thing to do. It makes you think of negative stuff or it will test your patience. It’s been half an hour. The waiter also went to her three times to ask if she would do the order. She already drunk 3 glasses of wine. She already lost hope. It’s time for her to give up and just go home. Helena will not come. So she decided to go. She grabs her bag and got up from her seat but she is stopped by a voice from behind. “I thought you wanted to talk to me?” It’s Helena appearing from behind. She turned to look at her. With her skinny jeans and shirt and a baseball cap. Victoria smiled upon the sight of her. Her heart pounded. She put her back back on the floor and stood to greet Helena. “I am glad you finally came.” She was about to give her a kiss but she avoided it. She’s embarrassed but she took it. She has all the right too. After all, she hurt her feelings. Avoiding that kiss is only a piece of cake. But Victoria smelled alcohol from her. “Are you drunk?” She asks again. Helena didn’t answer. She went straight to the chair in front of Victoria and sat. She didn’t say sorry that she was late, she just sat there. She didn’t even remove her cap. Victoria sat too and she just looked at Helena. It’s the first time she saw her wearing a baseball cap. It looks good on her. She looks even cooler and hotter. Her heartbeat rises every time their eyes meet. But Helena tries to remove hers immediately. Few hours later, Helena is very certain that she will not meet Victoria but here she is, in front of her. Karen changed her mind. She told Karen her problem and told her that she will never meet her again. But Karen said the opposite. She told her to talk to her for the last time and ask what she really wanted and why she wanted to meet. She told her to set things straight for them because there will be a lot of times that they will meet each other. Victoria is the sister of her best friend. There will always be times that they see each other. Things will become even harder and weirder if she keeps avoiding her. So she decided to go and meet Victoria for the last time.
