I'm sitting in my classroom, chatting with Asiphe about my ice cream date with Sphesihle, when our teacher, Mrs. Ndlovu, interrupts us. "Okay, class, settle down. Let's focus on our lesson for today." We both nod and turn our attention to the teacher, but I can't help sneaking a glance at Asiphe, who's trying to stifle a giggle. As the lesson drags on, I find my mind wandering back to Sphesihle and our fun outing. I can't wait to see her again and plan our next adventure together.
Finally, the teacher announces, "Alright, class, it's break time. You have 20 minutes to grab a snack, use the restroom, or chat with your friends." I breathe a sigh of relief and turn to Asiphe, grinning. "Let's catch up outside!" I whisper, and we both head out to the playground, eager to continue our conversation.During lunch, I sit with Asiphe, in silence lost in thought, thinking about Sphe. Suddenly, she appears and hugs me from behind! We chat briefly, and I'm left feeling terrified and confused. Why do I care about Sphe so much? We just met a few weeks ago, but it feels like we've known each other for years. I realize I'm in love with her, and that's all I can say. But when i looked at Asiphe's face she was not feeling well about this thing i know why.
As we walk out of the school gates, Asiphe turns to me with a scowl on her face. "So, you're just going to forget about me and fall for another girl?" she asks, her voice trembling with anger.
I'm taken aback by her reaction. "Asiphe, what are you talking about?" I ask, trying to placate her.
"Don't play dumb with me!" she snaps. "You're just going to swoop in and steal her heart like you did with me?"
I realize that Asiphe has misinterpreted my friendship with Sphesihle as something more romantic. "Asiphe, listen to me," I say calmly. "Sphesihle and I are just friends. We had a fun outing, but that's it."Asiphe crosses her arms, her expression skeptical. "Save it, I don't believe you." With that, she storms off, leaving me feeling confused and concerned about our friendship.
When i arrived at home, I quickly pull out my phone and send Asiphe a text: "Hey, can we meet up late? I need to talk to you about us." I hope she'll agree to meet me so I can apologize and clear up the misunderstanding.
After a few minutes, she responds: "Fine. Meet me at the park at 7 pm." I breathe a sigh of relief, grateful that she's willing to listen. At 7 pm sharp, I arrive at the park and see Asiphe sitting on a bench, looking upset. I sit down next to her and take a deep breath. "Asiphe, I'm so sorry if I hurt you. You're one of my closest friends, and I value our friendship above everything."Asiphe looks at me skeptically, but I can see the anger fading from her eyes. "What about Sphesihle?" she asks, her voice softening.
"I know it looked like I was interested in her, but trust me, it was just a friendly outing. You and I have something special, and I wouldn't jeopardize that for anything. Our relationship is our little secret, and I promise to always prioritize it." I take her hand, and she doesn't pull away. "Can we move forward from this and continue being the best friends we've always been?" I ask, hopeful.
The next day, Sphesihle and i meet up at the ice cream parlor, just as we had planned.
I arrived a few minutes early, my heart racing with excitement. I had been thinking about Sphesihle all day, wondering what our date would be like. When Sphesihle arrived, looking radiant in a yellow sundress, my heart skipped a beat. We exchanged shy smiles and hugged briefly before entering the parlor.
After ordering our ice cream, we sat down at a cozy table by the window. Sphesihle asked me about my dreams and aspirations, listening intently as i shared my passions and goals with her. As we licked our ice cream cones, i realized i fell completely at ease with Sphesihle. Our conversation flowed effortlessly, and i loved how Sphesihle made my day special and memorable. Sphesihle reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. The touch sent shivers down my spine, and i knew that this moment i was falling for Sphesihle.
As the days go by, Sphe and I grow closer. We share stories, laugh together, and support each other through thick and thin. I feel like I've found my soulmate, and I can't imagine life without her. One day, Sphe takes me to her favorite spot - a beautiful garden filled with vibrant flowers and a serene pond. We sit on a bench, holding hands, and she tells me about her dreams and aspirations. I listen intently, feeling proud to be her partner in every sense. As the sun sets, Sphe turns to me with a smile. "Hlalu, from the moment I met you, I knew you were special. Will you be my girlfriend?" My heart skips a beat, and I nod eagerly. We share our first kiss under the stars, and it feels like the whole world has come to a standstill.
As we walk back to school, hand in hand, I realize that I've never been happier. I'm grateful for Asiphe's meddling, which led me to Sphe.I'm grateful for Sphe, who brings light and joy into my life.
In class, I'm focused on the teacher, determined not to miss a word. We're approaching our June exams, and I need to stay on top of my game. The teacher introduces a new student, Siphesihle, and asks me to help her catch up. I'm taken aback, but try to play it cool. I was like what makes her come to this class, out of all grade 12 that are here this girl will drive me crazy we can't be in the same class. After school I'm waiting with my sister Ezo at the gate when Siphesihle calls me. We agree to work on our tourism homework together at her place. I head to her house, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.
As we work on our project, Siphesihle seems distracted, gazing at me with her beautiful eyes. I try to focus on the task at hand, but can't help sneaking glances at her. When our eyes meet, we share a brief, electrifying moment before quickly looking away. Just as we're making progress, Siphesihle's mom interrupts us, and we quickly compose ourselves. Siphesihle's mom is concerned about her younger sister Iyazi, who's still at school. Siphesihle rushes to pick her up, and I accompany her.
At the creche, we find Iyazi standing alone, tears in her eyes. Siphesihle quickly comforts her, and we head back home, the tension between us still palpable. As we walk back to Siphesihle's house, the silence between us is charged with an unspoken connection. Iyazi's presence breaks the tension, and we engage in a lively conversation about our favorite TV shows. When we arrive at her house, Siphesihle thanks me for my help and support. As I turn to leave, she touches my arm, and I feel a spark of electricity.
"Hlalu, can I ask you something?" she says, her voice low and husky. "Sure, what is it?" I reply, my heart racing. "Why do you keep looking at me like that?" she asks, her eyes locked on mine. I'm taken aback, unsure how to respond. "Like what?" I stammer. Siphesihle smiles, heyes crinkling at the corners. "Like you can see right through me." I swallow hard, trying to play it cool. "I was just making sure you're paying attention in class," I say with a grin.
Siphesihle chuckles, her laughter sending shivers down my spine. "I think it's more than that, Hlalu." We stand there for a moment, the air thick with tension. Then, she nods and steps back, breaking the spell. "Thanks again for your help, Hlalu. I'll see you tomorrow." I nod, feeling a mix of disappointment and excitement. As I walk away, I can't help but wonder what tomorrow will bring.
