Chapter Five
When Camilla went back to work, Marie stood in the cubicle, still pondering. When she came out, Mrs. Martin was waiting. She hated doing it. Yet, she had to ask, “Do you know of any other women in your husband’s life? Affairs that he might have had?”
Mrs. Martin’s brown eyes widened in shock. “No. Jeffrey wasn’t like that. He was faithful to me.”
“I see. Was there anyone he might have been blackmailing?
Certainly not.”
Marie flipped closed the tiny notebook she used to take notes. “I’ll continue the investigation. Let me know if you think of anything that might help.”
“I will.” Mrs. Martin dabbed at her eyes.
She sniffled and said, “I can’t bear the thought that he might be lying hurt somewhere.”
“If he is, we’ll find him.”
