CHAPTER 10: Seeing eye to eye The next morning, Esme was woken by the weight which had settled on the top of her head. Her eyes fluttered open and she met the cat, Kuro. She groaned, turning to her side to check her bedside clock, which read five-fifteen. It was way too early for her to get up. “You have the worst timing, Kuro.” She muttered pushing herself up. The sound of her parents talking downstairs reached her ears and, with a frown on her face, she wondered what they could be talking about this early.
