Where is My Luna
.::Adam::.
"50 Alphas. 50 incredible Lunas. Thousands years of traditions. Traditions must hold true." The Elder was droning on about traditions. We all know. This Pack never strays from traditions. We at Water Pack are proud. But we are weakening.
I know this out of all of them. It's not that I haven't tried to find my Luna. She just hasn't been found in this Pack or the surrounding Packs. I've searched them all. I feel how broken and weak my Pack is feeling. It's been 9 years since I have taken over as Alpha. All Alpha's in Water Pack take over at the age of 20. Typically, they find their mates at the age of 18, giving them two years to be able to properly bond with their mate before they both take over their respective roles.
"ALPHA ADAM! Are you listening?!" The Elder roars. I slowly look over from my position at head of the table and sigh.
"Yes Elder Demetrius. I hear you. I am very aware that it has been eleven years since I should have found my mate, our Luna, but I have not. As you are aware, I have searched all the nearby Packs to no avail. We have held multiple, successful mating balls. Maybe not successful for me, but we have had mates matched at each balls." I glare at him with boredom. "I am aware more than anyone else that I have not found my mate."
"Alpha Adam. We must locate our Luna soon. We, the council, have decided that if you cannot find our Luna by you're 30th birthday, we must choose another Alpha to take over. Something that has not been done in nearly TWO THOUSAND YEARS in this Pack!!" Elder Demetrius boomed, looking at each of the council members and leaving his gaze on me. "If you fail to find our Luna, we will have no other choice but to see what available, already mated candidates we have to take over as Alpha."
"You have made yourselves extremely clear Elder Demetrius. However, I do not intend to let that happen. I am not giving this Pack over to anyone. I have booked a trip to the nearest human city with my Beta Josh," Josh stands up and stares down the council. "in hopes to see if my Mate is among the humans." I stand up, following my Beta as we had planned, feeling this wound happen in this council meeting. "Now if you excuse me. We have packing to do and we will be on our way to find our Luna."
Walking out, Josh and I wait until the door is closed before we let our collective breaths out. We knew they would be planning to find my replacement. Josh knew better than anyone that I was missing that connection of my mate. Ever since Josh mated with my sister, I've seen how happy he and she have been. Although it disturbs me, him mated to my little sister, I know Josh will do all he can to protect her.
"That could have gone worse." Josh says as we walk away.
"You couldn't be more wrong." I chuckled. Headed towards my suite. "How dare they try and remove me from being Alpha. I will be a disgrace to my family if I cannot find her."
"You know better than anyone your parents will not disgrace you. They just want you happy and the Pack strong."
Once we make it to my suite, I lean on the door. Thinking of the trip we have ahead of us. It's a good two hour drive to make it to the nearest human city. I wonder if this is going to be worth it. Will I find her in among the humans? I look up at Josh's hopeful face, mixed with concern. "Are you packed? Have you broken the news to Adriana that we are leaving?"
"I've packed and let Adriana know. Bros first right?" He smiles, punching my arm. "You get packed and rested. We leave in the morning." He walks away, probably to say goodbye to Adriana personally.
I walk into my suite and flop onto my king bed. I've been packed. Ever since our last trip to the furthest Pack, I've never unpacked. The hole in my soul has prevented me from being as productive as I normally once was. As the years go on, I feel that hole deepening and taking over me slowly. A normal wolf would be able to go on without their mate, but an Alpha is another story. We weaken without that mate bond, our pack too. As an Alpha, we feel all the emotions of our Pack. We are one. It's a lot to burden as an Alpha alone. No one can handle all without their partner to take on all the emotions. The Moon Goddess would not allow it.
Throwing my arm over my face, I decide to take a nap before packing heading down to dinner to break the news to my parents. They will be upset by what the Council has decided, but will wish me all the luck on my search for my Luna. Even if I am stripped of my title, I will search until the ends of the earth to find my Mate. Alpha or not, I need her.
