The maid ran away in fear, “What a scumbag, “ Lyka couldn't help but mutter.
In the basement, Kendall sat there, scrolling through the internet, satisfied with the backlash against Lyka. Lyka treated his former wounds, cleaned him off, and gave him adequate food and even Wi-Fi, but he reminded that his movements were restricted. His phone was monitored, so he could not reach out to anyone he knew. He could only sit obediently and watch like a spectator. The door creaked, but Kendal did not bother to lift his eyelids. After all, he knew that he was probably guard, so he kept on scrolling on his phone. The voice chuckled. “You seem rather comfortable for his prisoner.” That voice… Kendal looked up and was shocked to the core. “Luna,” he sat up straight like a humble lapdog. His heart was filled with fear. Never in his life did he expect such a visit. He bowed slightly, Luna Daria responded with a nod. “You look rather well-fed, and she had kept him in good condition.” By she, they were obviously referring to Lyka. Luna Daria sat in at the end of the bedside, scanning through the room. “My daughter has weird tastes. I have always been aware of that.” Kendal scoffed. “Weird tastes include rejecting her fated mate and imprisoning him, marrying her sister's mate, and cheating on him with other men. Really weird, I must say. I'd never expected you as a mother was that open-minded,” Luna Daria's sighed softly. “Yeah, it is rare to see someone as open-minded as me,. As a mother, I know indulgence is not good, but I did my best for her.” Kendall finally dropped his phone by the bed and folded his arm, looking at her lazily. “So why are you here then? To defend your daughter? To show how selfless your motherly love is? Spend me the lecture. ”Luna Daria pondered for a moment and finally asked, “Why did she lock you up?” Kendall chuckled, “Isn't she your beloved daughter? Surely she told you the reason why she locked me up. Because she's a crazy b***h that needs help.” Smack! his cheek turning right with the five finger ark showing brightlyon his skin. “My daughter is not crazy. She is a good person.” Ha! Kendall laughed heartily. He has just heard the most ridiculous joke ever. “Your daughter is crazy, but I never expected you as a mother to be f*****g delusional.” Luna Daria frowned. “It seems we don't have anything to talk. I wanted to offer you some assistance to help you escape from this comfortable cell, but it seems that you rather remain hell-bent on protecting my daughter. Perhaps you staying here might not be bad after all.” She stood and turned her back to the gate. Kendall's voice called her, a smirk playing around his lips. “You want to know why I'm here? Let me give you a hint. I saw... What I shouldn’t do, a a case scenario of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, and here I am.” Luna Daria rolled her eyes, “being vague now aren't we?” Kendall stood up and walked towards her, observing her features. Although she was in her forties, her figure was stunning, her skin was fair and smooth, and her hair was tied in a low bun, revealing her smooth oval face. Kendall leaned in, whispering softly, :Tell me, Luna, between your husband and daughter, who do you love the most?” Luna's face changed. “What do you mean by that?” “The literal meaning. Just a piece of advice, the person you should love the most is yourself.” He put his hand on the pocket and walked to the house. He walks back to the bed, sitting down. “I don't think I need to see out,” he continued, bringing out his phone from the bedside, pressing it, ignoring her presence totally.
Aiden pushed the office door open and walked in.
Alpha Ryan was seated behind his desk, casually spinning a pen between his fingers. The moment he saw Aiden enter, he gestured for him to sit.
Aiden sat down without hesitation.
"Do you know your identity?" Ryan suddenly asked.
Aiden relaxed against the chair and looked at him calmly. "If you're planning to interfere in the matter between Lyka and me, I suggest you don't. You should remember your identity as my father-in-law and stay out of our marital issues."
Alpha Ryan chuckled. "Rather defensive, aren't you? Relax. I don't care about your marriage. My daughter is undoubtedly in the wrong and I'm merely a spectator in that matter. But that doesn't mean I won't take care of her. At the end of the day, she's still my daughter."
"I'm not stopping you," Aiden replied curtly.
Ryan nodded before changing the topic. "What do you think about the call from the Lycan Kingdom?"
Aiden's expression became serious. "Honestly, I find it unsettling. The timing is too perfect. Why would they suddenly reach out now of all times? Our pack has been losing collaborators because of the recent scandals. Several business partners have already distanced themselves from us and our situation is worse than people realize. If things continue like this, we might even lose our position as the strongest pack in the region."
Ryan remained silent, listening.
"Then suddenly, the Lycan Kingdom calls. It doesn't feel like a coincidence."
"So what do you think their motive is?" Ryan asked.
Aiden folded his arms. "I think the Lycan King saw an opportunity. He helps us when everyone else is abandoning us. We survive the crisis and in return become indebted to him. He gains our gratitude while strengthening his influence. Two birds, one stone."
Ryan stared at him for a few seconds before laughing. It seemed his son-in-law had become much sharper than before.
"Perhaps you're right," he admitted. "But even if he intends to benefit from us, I don't think it's a bad deal. If the Lycan Kingdom publicly collaborates with us, other packs will follow. Our reputation will recover, our business will recover, and everyone wins."
A greedy smile slowly spread across his face.
"Contact them. Tell the Lycan Kingdom that we're ready to work together."
