“We-we have to help the second person,” Rea cried when she stepped into Angelique’s office. Angelique was a little startled by her sudden appearance.
“What are you saying?” She signed Conor to give the girl a glass of water. With her image, it looked like she ran home from the farm. “What happened?” she asked calmly when Rea had her water.
“We need to save the guy. The King seemed to detect what we were doing. He moved his soldier faster than before.” Angelique understood what she was saying.
She stood up and looked at the surveillance camera she put outside the guy’s house. Their eyes got wider when they saw that their Alpha had already moved in advance.
“They already sent someone to monitor them,” she said then stood up. She started to prepare the thing she needed, like a knife and another weapon that she can use later.
Conor moved too, collecting what he needed too, and called the shadow warrior. They also moved faster in preparing themselves for the upcoming fight and rescue.
“What is the plan, Alpha?” Serio asked. He will be the one to watch over them using the surveillance camera around.
“Let me go in first and talk to them. You all will stand by and wait for my instructions.” They believed she could do it.
“Yes, Alpha!” they said in unison.
They didn’t waste any more time. They left the packhouse using their speed that cannot be compared to others.
Angelique got there and the sun was still up. She hid in a nearby tree and observed her surroundings. The King’s men had not arrived yet but his posted men were there and looking after the boy.
Angelique calculated how many there were and she was satisfied when she only felt two people. She can easily sneak in and talk to the family without the lookout knowing.
She sensed them first if she got an opportunity. She had when they looked away for a second. She moved like the wind and then when she stopped she was already inside the second floor of the house.
No one was there but she could sense the presence of a family, a husband, a wife, and their son. She could also feel that they were afraid.
Today, she’s in the territory of the water wolf. According to Serio, her mentor in her “knowing the kind of werewolves” class. Their fur was a mixture of white and black with a strip of blue color. They could control the water and go along with them. It is a powerful ability.
But somehow, their son was different from them. They hid it but someone saw it when he saved an old lady a few days ago. The King was agitated because he also wanted to possess that kind of power too, even if it contradicted his fire ability.
He’s a fire wolf. A red furry wolf that is sometimes engulfed with fire.
Their son can make the water into ice. It could be deadly if it is used on a battlefield, that's why he wanted him. Same with the healer, he will use them.
Angelique hid her presence then walked downstairs. The parents were arguing about what they would do. They didn’t want their son to be taken away.
Their son was in the living room while his parents were arguing in the kitchen. They were over-protected with him all his life. There were times they locked him up and he was revolting every time, thinking they were unreasonable. But now he understood why they were afraid to show him outside.
Maybe being a King is a good ring to hear but they knew how the King treats his people. They were slaves to his eyes and if he was not satisfied anymore, he killed them. They didn’t want that for their son.
Angelique could hear them and the son was absent-minded at the moment. She sneaked in his back and covered his mouth before he could scream and fought back, she spoke.
“I am not an enemy. I am here to help you. Don’t scream and let us talk.” The young man nodded when he could feel the sincerity. “Talk to your parents through your mind link so people outside won’t hear you. Don’t worry about me, they can not hear me.” He nodded again and did what was told.
She let go of his mouth and sat down in front of him. He was surprised when she saw the woman behind a powerful aura he felt. He never felt it before but what surprised him was her face. She was young and gorgeous, even though only her eyes and nose were showing, to have that powerful aura.
The parents showed up and they almost stumbled when they saw her. Their wolf also wanted to bow down to this woman but she signed that they needed to sit down.
“Interrupt their hearing.” Even her voice was an authority in it.
“Okay, Alpha.” The family never heard the reply but they could feel that they, whoever they are, followed her command.
Conor fired a device that can interrupt the wavelength. People outside will not hear them and just be silent.
“I know what your concern is.” Angelique just spoke without introducing herself. “If you want, you can escape. Come with me. I won’t force you to join us. I’ll just let you escape, then you can do whatever you want.”
“Really? Do you just help us out here?” In the mother's eyes, hope could be seen. “We wanted to get out of here and go to Guslar. We wanted to start there with my sister. She told us about that place.”
Angelique nodded because it was nice that they had a plan like that. She preferred for them to be safe than to be used by the King.
“If you want, we can help you then.” The mother was ready to answer but the husband held her back. Angelique knew he was still doubting her intention.
“The King was not my enemy. But I didn’t want someone to be used by the King and also used by that man. I have no intention to use you. I am happy with what I have. I have the capability to put them down, so why would I use a young man to do it?” she asked them. They understood because they could feel how powerful she was and she’s not fooling around.
“Okay. Please, help us!” The father finally talked.
Angelique nodded and talked to her people through the earpiece. They needed to leave before the sun went down, and the King came and took them.
“Knock them out!” she told them.
Her people moved like what their Alpha said. Angelique felt that they’re already out cold.
“I saw your bags. Did you already prepare everything?” They nodded at the same time, a knock on the door frightened them. “That’s my people.”
She stood up and opened the door. There, Conor was standing and waiting for his Alpha’s command. He walked in when the Alpha let them open.
“Take their bags and accompany them to the farm.” She walked near Conor and whispered. “Use the alternate route.”
The route she was talking about was the small road in the corner of their pack. It was made to hide their pack, especially the wall. They’re not joining yet, so she couldn’t let them see their pack. The farm was in Guslar, the place where they wanted to go. So it was a good place to take them there.
Conor and three more men walked in and helped them. They looked around and made sure no one saw them before they left. Angelique stayed to clean up her presence.
She didn’t leave any marks for them to identify her. No one knew, but she could control time in a few minutes. She turned back time to the house where she was not there. She did it too to the surroundings.
It may be just a few minutes of time she rewinded, but it also drained her energy. But she could still run back home.
She left the two lookouts and went home. Conor will do her job for now while she’s recovering.
Meanwhile, the King really came on his own when the sun went down. But he just shouted in range when he saw the empty house.
“Kill them! Useless!” He pointed out to the lookouts. Their eyes got wider when they heard their King.
“P-please, spare us, Our King. We didn’t know what happened. Please!” they begged but never heard. Their throat was slit open and their eyes were wide.
“Look for them. Kill the parents and bring that boy to me, dead or alive. I just need his power after all.” Then he laughed like a power-hunger maniac.
His people just bowed down in submission. They couldn’t do anything since he’s the King. They knew, even though he was laughing, he was really mad.
They couldn’t tell who helped them because no sign was left. No one came to mind who would cross the King. But now, things are changing.
They’re making the King their enemy.
“How are they?” Angelique asked as she massaged her temple. A headache appeared after she used her ability.
“They’re adjusting in the farm. They like the life there after a day of staying there. I told them they could leave and went to her sister but they wanted to meet first before going. Also, they were contacting her but she’s not answering so we went looking for her.” Angelique nodded to Conor.
She took a sip on her cup and finished it all. After that, she stood up and walked out of her office.
Conor followed her without a word. When they were out, they saw how everyone was happy and laughing with each other. They were happy regardless of their different origins.
This is the place everyone wanted to live. Peace and happiness radiating in this place.
“Good morning, Alpha!” They greeted her with a bow.
“Good morning!” She greeted them back.
They walked a little before they ran to the farm. They arrived at the farm without any trouble. It was late in the morning and children had already gone to school. The remaining people were human workers.
They stopped in the forest nearby where no one could see. Humans only knew that the owner lived inside the forest with her sister. She wanted her privacy so they didn’t ask about it.
They saw the owner walking while talking to Conor, the manager of the place. He was assigned to overlook them.
They admired her for giving them work even with their age. The benefits were great too. It really helped them in their daily life. Their work may not be white-collar as they said, but it was a decent job for them already.
Angelique and Conor walked inside her office and the family of three came in too. They were surprised to see the woman behind that mask. They couldn’t believe that the face behind was this gorgeous beyond comparison.
“A-Alpha!” they stammered and bowed down. Angelique acknowledged them and signed for them to sit down.
“Have you contacted your sister already?” she asked them.
“We tried but her number was already not in use.”
“Okay. Don’t worry. Conor already went out to look for her. You can leave every time you want. But if you wanted to stay, just talk to Conor. I just wanted to say that our pack is different,” Angelique told them without batting an eyelash.
“We will remember it. Thank you, Alpha!”
