Having a seer inside the pack was a great help. Their pack before was one of the advisers of the King. They stood on the back of the King and were praised by many.
But after the current King took the place, their glory went down along with the King rising. The King was afraid of their power, so he killed those stronger and let the weak feed for themselves. They’re not good with combat, so they couldn’t fight.
When one of their kind gives birth to a powerful child, the King kills them before they bloom. Rea was just a lucky one since she’s a late bloomer and she hid it before someone could see and know.
“How’s the young girl now, Maria?” Angelique asked, then she sipped the coffee prepared by Maria. She felt refreshed after a sip. Maria really knew what she liked with her coffee.
“Yeah. She’s fine now but she is still asleep. Doctor Grace said she is still recovering and her mind chose to put her to sleep to overcome the trauma. She will wake up maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.” Angelique nodded what Marie said.
Grace was a good doctor and had her own clinic in Guslar. Werewolves who studied medicine decided to study and experience it in her clinic. She was accommodating and she respected them for who they were. She’s still human but she also has children with Conor’s son.
Doctors who will receive experience in Guslar will be back on their pack and become a doctor. Angelique was planning to have a hospital inside the pack but they didn’t have enough money yet. So, they only built a small clinic.
Studying in Guslar made their people educated and well versed in different kinds of fields. Some in engineering, accounting or business management, agriculture, teaching, also in medicine field, computer programming, and many more. It will help their pack progress in the future.
“Alpha?” Angelique was back to her consciousness when Marie called her again.
It’s been a few days already, she was always in a daze. Her people were already worried about her actions that never happened before. She's a plan-oriented person, so for her dazing, it was a worrisome sight.
“I am fine. What’s the matter?” She forced herself to focus. It won’t do any good if she’s always like this.
“A boy that came from the east village came. He had a message from Serio.” Angelique signed that the boy could come in. East Village was the rundown village they made to deceive their enemy, especially the King and the Lycans. Marie opened the door for the and closed it again.
“What happened?” she asked as she stood up, taking her cup of coffee with her.
“Elder Serio said that you were right. They came,” he said that Angelique understood perfectly.
“Okay. You can go back now.” The boy bowed down and left.
Angelique went inside the conference room and turned on the computer. It was connected to every camera she put everywhere. Someone was already watching what was happening but she wanted to see it herself. She signed people to always check to gather more information and also to detect if there’s an intruder or visitor.
Just like what Rea said, the Royal Guard looked to Cinna when they knew her power. Serio was talking to them with tears in his eyes. Some of the White Fang were just listening while they bowed their heads.
Angelique saw Maria on the monitor running towards their house. She was wearing a rug and carrying a basket with just a few fruits inside and some gardening tools. She never knew she went home already.
“What’s happening, Serio?” she asked her husband as she put down her basket. The Royal Guard took a look at her basket and grimaced when they saw that it was a fruit and already near to rotten.
“They were asking about Cinna,” Serio answered her and wiped his tears.
“Here. Drink this. You can’t keep on crying. You know you have a fragile heart now since we’re getting old.” The way Marie was acting never made the Royal Guard suspicious. “I am so sorry for my husband. Cinna was his last relative and it hurt him so much.”
The Royal Guard still had a stoic face but they answered her. “No worry, Ma’am. Can you tell us what happened so we can write a clear report?”
“Sure, Officer. But I am sorry we don’t have a chair in here. Can we talk while standing?” Marie showed shyness because of their situation.
“It’s fine. Just tell me.” Maria nodded.
“You stay here, alright?” Serio nodded while still drinking the water and leaning on the wall of their wreck house. “Can you come with me, Officer?”
Marie didn’t wait for them and walked out of the house. She walked farther to the east that confused the Royal Guard. They looked at each other before the captain decided to follow her with some Guard.
The woman stopped in a small graveyard. The soil was still soft, showing it was just being dug up. As to their story, it was just two days ago when she died and was buried. The grave proved their story, especially when the Royal Guard could smell the same scent of the child in the orphanage. He realized it was true.
“Someone told us that our granddaughter was still alive. We were happy so we inquired immediately and the lady told us to take her. The next day, we went there and we were shocked with her situation.” She sighed and wiped the tears that fell on her cheek.
“Her body was full of wounds and her skin was slowly deteriorating. We bought a concoction that time from the herb in the forest, it helped her for a while. We carried her home, believing we would save her. We are healers after all. My husband uses the last stone he cultivated and our other pack members also helped with a ritual. We did our best even though we were not as strong as before.”
“How about a doctor? You didn’t bring her there?” The captain was curious.
“Who will accept us with our situation? We didn’t have any money and the way we look, no one will help.” She looked down, her face telling how sorry their situation was.
”When did she die?” the captain asked again.
“Maybe midnight two days ago while we were asleep. When we woke up at three in the morning, she was lifeless already.” The captain nodded because they told the same story with her husband.
“I’m sorry for your loss,” he sincerely said.
Maria just smiled and looked at the tomb. Then she looked at the captain because she remembered something.
“By the way, Officer. Why were you looking for our granddaughter?” Curiosity was written on her face.
“The King wanted her to be his personal healer.” He didn’t have any reason to lie so he told her the truth.
“Oh! About that,” she frowned, “she didn’t have that power anymore. When we got her, her hair turned black already. For us, it says that she’s powerless. Even if she survives and she grows up, her healing ability won’t be back anymore because she already lost it.” A tear fell that she wiped again.
The captain was surprised. He never thought that it was that severe. He couldn’t do anything about it then.
“Sorry for intruding here. We just wanted to clear things out. Your statement and this grave is the evidence already. I will report it to the King.”
“No worries, Officer. If Cinna was still alive, what a great opportunity she would have. For sure, she will have a great life there.” Marie felt sad for her granddaughter.
The Royal Guard decided to leave because they got nothing there. They also looked around and they could tell that there was no chance for White Fang Pack. They’re really poor among the poorest.
They just looked at the guards until they were all gone. They let out a sigh of relief knowing they tricked the guards.
They stayed there for a few hours before they went to the Alpha’s Office. Angelique was busy again with paperwork, some of them were from the businesses they developed in Guslar. By having Angelique as the mind and Conor as the arm, their business expanded and boomed for humans. A big grocery store really helped humans with their daily needs.
They also got a huge profit because the meat they sell came from their farm. Even fresh vegetables and rice came from the farm they owned, they just bought and expanded it. They imported other things that humans developed like processed goods.
Many paperwork had been filed on Angelique’s desk and she needed to finish it within two days. Maybe it’s too much but for Angelique, it was nothing with her fast processing mind. She’s a real genius even to the werewolves.
“Alpha!” husband and wife greeted her. She looked at them before she let go of the pen she was holding.
She nodded in acknowledgment. “How’s everything?”
“Everything is fine, Alpha. Thank you for planning it, Alpha. It really worked.”
“Some of it was Rea’s idea. I just altered it because I saw loopholes. Now, it worked perfectly because you acted it well too.” She nodded in approval to herself and them. “For now, focus on your granddaughter.”
As she said it, a nurse’s head popped up on the door. She was flustered but she still had the strength to scream in her delight.
“She wakes up! She wakes up!” she screamed, which stunned both elders.
Serio bowed to the Alpha before he ran to the clinic. While Marie said sorry before going as well. Aloha didn’t mind because she knew how excited they were.
Angelique stood up from her chair and followed them too. She wanted to see the child that will play an important role in this pack. Her survival was a great help for everyone.
Angelique saw a fragile and malnourished child on the bed. She looked like a six years old kid with a thin body, however, her real age was ten.
Her new parents were attentive to her every need. The child remained unmoving but she felt more relaxed than before. Angelique was happy seeing it.
Days passed, and the child became accustomed to the two elders. Children were also visiting her in her room because she couldn’t move her body yet. When she wants to wander outside, to the garden, they will let her sit in a wheelchair and push her around.
Angelique felt happy for them, but herself? She felt incomplete. After a day of work, she did her routine for a few days now.
“Kimberly, I am going somewhere. Don’t wait for me.” She left after saying it.
She wandered inside the forest nearby, looking for a clue to find her mate. She’s been doing this for quite a while now but she didn’t find any clue. It felt like she was really hiding from her.
She tried to sniff her scent, even her pack scent, but there’s still no clue. In the end, she just went back to the place where she first saw her.
Like the other day, her mate didn’t come. She looked around and leaned on the tree like she always did while watching her mate playing with the water.
“I wish I never did that night. At least, I can still see you rather than nothing at all.” She put her arm forehead, covering her eyes from the sight.
No one knew what she was doing but with her gestures and attitude, she’s sad. She felt empty.
But she never knew, far away from her, a shadow peeking on her. A smile crept on her lip. She was happy knowing Angelique was looking for her.
Seeing her from afar was her joy already. She always did it, sometimes waiting for her to show up. Her pack was already questioning her sudden disappearance but she never cared anymore.
She realized her mistake before so she started to rule them with an iron fist. Even with her condition, she showed them that she’s not their puppet.
Like every moment she came, she stayed for a few hours before she left. But before she went, she left a letter for her mate as always.
Chiara waited for a few minutes before she went out of her hiding place and took the letter. It made her smile while reading it and smelling it. It calmed her down and eased the rapid beating of her heart.
“I’ll clean the world for us. I will wait for you, so please wait for me too!” These words were written on that paper.
While Angelique went hunting, she hunted some Lycans who were dirtying the land of Arcadia. Killing them was her way of letting out her anger. This is her daily routine every time she visits the river where her love story started… for her.
