Chapter 38

“Did you see my sister?” It never startled Angelique anymore when Kimberly asked her. She knew I always went there, but I never saw her. But… not today.  “Yes, I saw her sleeping so I didn’t talk with her. And if she’s awake, for sure she will run away. She looks fine and healthy, too. They’re safe wherever they’re staying now.” She saw how Kimberly relaxed hearing her assurance. All she wanted was the safety of her sister.  “Can’t we take her? She will be safe here, too.” That’s really the first thing they will think but sometimes it will just put someone you love in danger.  “We couldn’t do that. Everyone here accepted me as their Alpha, what about your pack? Conflict may occur and your sister couldn’t handle that. She couldn’t choose between us. Also, it is not safe for her to be here. If the enemy knows that she’s my weakness, I don’t know what they will do. I believe she’s safe there, wherever they’re hiding. One more thing, I have many challenges I need to face on my own. I can’t afford to bring her to this trouble.” Maybe it was twisted reasoning, it was the best thing for Angelique.  “I know. But, can I come next time?” she asked with eyes full of hopes.  “I don’t yet. I am sure, I am the King’s next target after I took one of her assets. They might not know me, but I should be careful. Taking you with me might put you in danger too.” She sighed and looked outside. She didn’t know, the meeting took longer than it was intended. The sun was already peeking out of the horizon. “Also, I was planning to stop fooling around and make our pack stronger. I will attack Lycan’s pack in a month or two. In the next few days, the King will inspect every pack, so I need to put something to conceal this place from their sight.” Kimberly got nervous when she heard what her big sister was planning and what might happen. She needed to prepare as her sister also as the leader of the teenager and children.  “What is your plan?”  “I will harvest our crop later and remove all the constructed water pipes and irrigation. Then made the place look like a wasteland. Then in our territory, I will put some thorny plants and make them denser so that no one will come in. I saw an artificial plant in Guslar, I can use it for camouflage. But we should still be prepared.” Kimberly nodded in understanding.  “Just tell us what we can do to help you,” she said, referring to her team.  “I will.”  With that, Kimberly stood up and left the office. While Angelique just leaned on her chair, looking outside. Her mind was swarming somewhere and thinking whatnot.  She needed an absolute plan for her to achieve a great result. For the safety of her people, she needed to give her all. They needed to survive because they’re still people who needed to be punished. Without them, all her plans will go in vain.  She was drowning in her thoughts when a knock on her door woke her up. She turned her head and saw Serio looking at her with concern.  “Come,” she said and sat straight. Serio just stood up in front of her, waiting for her words. “Collect all your people and harvest all the crops. Destroy all the irrigation and make the soil like how it is before. Please, do it faster so we can proceed to another task.”  “Yes, Alpha!” Serio answered with a bow before he left. He understands what his Alpha instructed him. He told his people and they did their work according to what their Alpha wanted.  Next, Conor came in. He was in time for the next thing that needed to be done. He bowed down and sat down when Angelique pointed out the chair.  She gave him a paper and a pen. “Write this up and buy them for me. Bring the trucks because it might be too heavy for one.” She told him what she wanted.  It was the plants and some materials she needed for her plan. Conor seriously listened and wrote everything. He understood what she was doing right now was for them.  After many instructions, he left along with some of the pack members to carry on with this task. The teenager chose to help the harvest and made sure no mark of changes happened in that place.  They used their best to make sure that the place had no life at all like before. They planted dry plants and will die in a day. It was dry and lifeless again as before.  They were done when other pack members appeared carrying plants. They put it aside for a while and got back to get more of the materials. They already rested for a while so they could help them.  Stronger men stood up and helped. While the women and teens started to dig where they could plant the fake plants.  They did their best for the forest to look like a hunted one and dangerous. They should make sure that if someone comes, no one will be tough enough to enter this part of the forest.  They covered the forest border with this. Ten meters wide was enough to deceive them. Angelique was satisfied.  They could freely enter the forest because they had a secret passage where the thorn was not real. It won’t poke and wound them.  “Serio, you and your old people will stay here. Act as if you’re White Fang Pack again.” They felt bizarre about what she was saying.  “She’s right.” Rea appeared out of nowhere and interrupted them. They’re more conscious of what was going on. They followed their Alpha but they were asking questions inside their head.  They knew Rea’s ability now so they asked her. “What do you mean?” “In a few days, the King’s men will march in here. They will try to look for something, so this plan will work to conceal the real packhouse. But there is still one thing needed.” She looked at Angelique then the Alpha got what she meant.  “Prepare the tamed beast. We will use them as an excuse.” Some gasped when they heard her. There were tamer werewolves here so many beasts were being taken care of here but they were left inside the mountain.  “We will, Alpha!” they said and bowed down to her.  “Thank you everyone for your cooperation. I did it not only for myself but for our safety. Please, bear with it for a few more months. We will have our freedom soon.”  They all believed in her. “Thank you, Alpha!” She was ready to leave when a young man ran to her shouting something. He’s Tony, the one with the ability to control ice. He became brawnier day by day. Many women were fascinated by him, but that’s for another story.  “Alpha!” he bowed down in respect. “The woman woke up and she’s hysterical right now.”  Angelique didn’t answer him and ran back to the clinic. When she got there, the door was closed and crying could be heard from the inside.  “What happened?” she asked.  “When the doctor was checking on her, she was just fine and asking who saved her. But when she saw us, she got hysterical and threw everything she saw.” Angelique realized what happened.  “No boys allowed for now,” she said then knocked on the door. “Hey, it’s me.” She seemed to know Angelique’s voice because she opened the door and jumped up on Angelique. She was like a koala who held onto her body.  She was crying and hiccups for some time.  “Stop crying now. Everything’s fine now. They will not touch you again. But first,” she sighed in relief and conflict before she looked at her eyes. “We need to remove the King’s mark so he won’t know where you are.”
