Everyone was nervous when Lily’s camera turned off after she went inside the small tunnel. They didn't know if she came out alive or they caught her.
They were preparing themselves to rescue her when the door suddenly pushed open and the serious face of their Alpha appeared. They were astonished when they saw that their Alpha was fine at all.
Angelique looked at them like she was asking if they’re serious. She never thought that her small disappearance would make them agitated.
“Everything is on,” she said, then left them. She went inside her office and slackly sat down on her chair. She felt exhausted with just a simple mission.
“What happened? Your camera turned off when you got inside the tunnel. Also, how did you find that tunnel?” Conor followed her, same with Serio after he dismissed the shadow knight, and questioned her.
“A woman helped me,” she simply said while massaging her head. Headache was forming already. Even though she’s a werewolf, a strong one at that, she still suffers headaches every time she wears herself out.
“Who's the woman? How did she help you?” Conor curiously asked.
“The third person I wanted to rescue. She showed up and brought me inside after she put the prisoners to sleep. She told me about the secret tunnel,” she told them. They quieted down so she took a peek. They were both looking at each other with questions on their heads. “What is it? Just say it.”
“When did she show up?”
“When I was ready to go out, she pulled me back. There, I saw her. Why?” She felt odd with their reaction. They looked at each other again before facing their Alpha with respect.
“Alpha, you know that we are watching you the whole time. You know we believe in you. But at that time, we didn't see anyone with you. You just walked inside then went inside the tunnel.” Serio nodded as well when their Alpha looked at her.
Angelique knew they were saying the truth. At first, she thought she was just imagining things but now she confirmed it was true.
“She’s her other self, the spirit wolf. It can get out of her body and do some errand. That’s why she easily sneaked in and helped me.” She leaned on her chair and looked outside. “Leave me for a while, please,” she said that they also followed.
The woman appeared to be real, especially when she dodged her attack. Yet, she felt out of ordinary with her. Her presence was different from the other creatures. She could easily distinguish her because of it.
She realized that she’s not the real body when she showed her face. The real one never revealed her face even once. She always wore a veil to hide her face and made people know her. She had a bad memory, that’s why she hid it.
“Did you see her?” Out of the blue, a small voice spoke inside the small office.
Angelique saw Rea peeking at the door. She seemed to know what happened a while ago. Her face was a bit red and still catching her breath.
“Come in, Rea. Drink some water,” Angelique said, pointing to the water dispenser inside her office.
Angelique never realized that it was already dawn when she didn’t look outside. She went out early last night then it took several hours before she was done settling all the cameras in. She stayed a little with her grandfather before she went home. It was morning but the sun was still not up.
“Thank you!” The young girl came in and drank some water. She ran from the farm to the office. For a small girl, it took half an hour with her short legs while adults just ran it for five minutes.
They had a sleepover last night with the other kids. That's why it took so long for her to come because she was at the farm. They also fed the animals there before she left, the reason for her being late already.
“You know she will help?” she directly asked the girl who sat down on the chair in front of her.
“I just saw it. That the spirit will help you on her own accord. Her body didn’t know what she did because she’s loyal to the king. But there will be a time she will realize that she was wrong.” Now, Angelique understood what happened. Spirits can be hard to manipulate while its body can easily be controlled. The human was more fragile than the power of the spirit.
“Okay. Thank you for informing me.”
“Oh! I forgot why I am here.” She tapped her forehead because she forgot what she needed to say to the Alpha. “You need to get Serio’s granddaughter today or tomorrow because the enemy will go to her the day after tomorrow. They will get her and she will become a slave. It should be today!” she reminded her.
“Okay. I will tell Serio.”
After their small talk, the young girl went out and ran back home. Her family was waiting for her so she needed to be home before the sun showed up.
She called Serio and narrated what Rea told her. She saw how Serio got furious then got worried for her granddaughter. He was ready to go and took her along with her wife.
“Take care and make sure no one follows you. We already put a barrier here but we still need to be careful.”
“I understand,” he answered Angelique.
While they left and did their chores. Angelique chose to sleep to get back her strength. She felt fatigued all over her body. She needed to rejuvenate too.
Concurrently in the Blood Rose Stone Pack inside the cave…
“I’ll marry you. But never expect that I will let you control me and have me. I’ll marry you but I am still in charge of this pack. I am a Rose and this is mine. No one could take it away from us! Are we clear?” Chiara seriously looked at the guy sitting opposite her.
She was forced to marry him. Also, she didn’t have a choice with her circumstances.
Since that night she spent with her mate, she never went back to the river. She didn't know what to say or maybe if she saw her she would give in and run away with her. She couldn’t do that because of her pack. The pack that her family protected until their last breath.
“I am fine with that. I love you, Chiara, that is why I am doing this.” He tried to hold her hand but she pulled it away. She couldn’t bear to be touched by him.
Christopher tried to trick her but it didn’t work on Chiara. Kiara was mad inside but there’s no choice. That was the only way to regain her status.
“Don’t make a fool out of me, Christopher. I know what’s running inside of your head. I don’t care what it is, just don’t interfere with everything I do.” She glared at him before she continued on her makeup.
Christopher sighed in defeat then went out of the bride’s tent. When no one was looking at him, he mischievously smiled like a sly fox.
Inside his head, he was cooking a plan on how to tame the Alpha. He wanted not just the power of being a husband to an Alpha, he wanted her position and body as well.
“I'll be a good and obedient husband for now. In no time, you will fall for my charm and you will give me everything I wanted. I’ll be patient and wait for that time to come,” he softly whispered while walking to his tent.
No people could be seen in the vicinity since all were inside the venue, waiting for the bride and groom to come in. They were all happy because at last, the Alpha will marry the man they chose for her.
But Brandon felt sorry for the Alpha, a woman like a daughter for him. He knew that Chiara didn’t harbor any feelings for Christopher. Another reason was her circumstances now that made her approve the Elder’s request. All he could do at the moment was to protect her and the next generation Rose.
A ceremony was supposed to be the exchange of blood but Chiara opposed this, saying it will affect her health. So they will just change vows and wear a matching bracelet that symbolizes their union.
A few minutes later, the groom and the bride went inside at the same time. No emotions could be seen on Chiara’s face while Christopher smiled like he won a lottery. But when he saw his bride’s reaction, he smiled like he was being rejected. Anyone could have felt sorry for him the way he forced a smile, yet inside he was laughing out loud.
One of the elders officiated the union and it went smoothly. Chiara was dazed and just nodded her head and didn’t make a scene. She just accepted her faith. She sacrificed her own happiness for them, hoping it will be enough now.
After the wedding, Chiara stood up from her chair. Everyone was shocked by her movement. The wedding was just finished and they were saying their congratulations.
“Now that it was done. Can I go back to my room? I feel nauseous here.” They were all silent from what they heard. The Alpha still felt grievance at what they did.
Chiara didn’t wait for them to say anything and left. But the old man who’s the head of the elder shouted.
“Even if you're our Alpha, you should show some respect to us. We are your elders after all. We just did what is good for you.” Chiara stopped and looked at them with a sneer.
“Really? Or are all of you looking down on me because I am a woman? I am incapable of handling this pack because I am a woman. I need a man to guide me because I am weak in your eyes. I am a disgrace of an Alpha because of what I am carrying right now.” She smirked at them when they quieted down. “What? I am right, ain’t I?”
“What are you saying? Speaking against us is disrespectful!” he pointed out on Chiara’s face. She just laughed like a mad man.
“You know what the difference is between you and the Lycan right now? Nothing. You’re just like them. Using women the way you wanted them.” She turned around while taking off the flower in her head. She threw it away and walked out. “Don’t forget. I am still your Alpha!”
The old man kept on screaming when suddenly two hands held him down. It was Brandon who told them to do it.
He was woken up from her outburst. Some realized what they did was wrong while some were still looking down on Chiara especially with what she’s carrying from unknown species. They wouldn't accept it because they didn’t know who the other blood donor was.
Chiara cried on her bed as she held a small handkerchief she found with her mate. The scent was fading but she didn’t want to wash it because the scent was still there.
On the handkerchief, a name was stitched on it. She touched it and mumbled.
”Angelique…”
With that name, Chiara realized who she was. She was her only mate that survived that fire five years ago. She’s alive and now a werewolf like her. But she has a different blood type of werewolf, but smelt different than those she encountered.
Lycans didn’t let women live and let them become strong like her mate. She could feel her strength that night. It was no joke that she could kill whoever she wanted. Especially with those piercing blue eyes that can penetrate her prey.
“Please, when we meet again, get me out of here. I want to be with you. I don’t care about them when that time comes,” she whispered then sniffed the handkerchief. That was the only way for her to quench her longing for her.
Angelique may have felt it when she woke up from her slumber. Someone was calling her name for help but she couldn’t find who.
