Barrett's POV

After storming away from Adaline, I was yelled at by my father for the way I handled it. He was going on and on about how I needed to act like the proper alpha I was, "I know that! I just don't like the idea of Adaline getting hurt. What if the training severely hurts her? She hasn't had the training we have all had. I cant lose her." I felt defeated. I knew I was to accept her and all that came with her, but at the same time, I had the mate bond fully pushing me to keep her locked away so she could be safe. I was pacing around one of the common rooms on the first floor. "Son, believe me, I know the need to make sure your mate is safe, I have every fiber of my being telling me to send your mother home. That this battle could very well take her away from me the way I lost Brooke. However, Stone keeps reminding me that I must trust the wolf that Adaline is." For the first time, I saw my father terrified, truly terrified.

I hugged him, "I'm sorry dad, I haven't thought about anyone else's feelings in this whole thing. I should have considered how this would make you feel, or even Stephen or mom or anyone else besides myself. Adaline lost her human love and was lucky enough to get him back. I should have known that all of this would affect you." He pulled back and smiled at me. "Spoken like a true alpha, but you needn't worry about me, we are strong and I know this time will be different. That's why your mother is still allowed here," he chuckled, "besides your mate seems to be doing some pretty impressive work there." He pointed out the window to Selena on top of Knights back with a large boulder rolling towards them "what the hell?!" I all but screamed as I ran towards the back yard, as I got there though she had him bowing and his neck in her mouth, not hard but enough to make him submit and he did. "Wow that was I amazing" I beemed with pride at my mate. After saying my apologies to both my mate and her wolf, I felt this tug at the back of my head, "mate is commanding me to shift, and I am going to". I laughed, go get her you horn dog. He took off first just to make her think she was quick enough to catch him, but he had other plans in mind.

After, the three hours they ran and mated, I was finally able to get Shaw to get us back so we could get some food for our mate. We were all seated eating dinner, David going over the plans for after dinner for Adaline to do some human-side training to see if she has abilities outside of her wolf. He strongly believed she did. "Sebastian" I turned to him. He was seated on the other side of Adaline and James, "I know we were all here to train and get prepared, but would you and Sophia take a day either tomorrow or the next to just be the 5 of us?" He smiled down at James, "absolutely I would be honored to have a day with you all. I have missed out on a year and a half of my son's life due to stupid rules and I would give anything to get every second with him that I could." I nodded to him "plus" Sophia piped up "we will need to all get on the same wave length with him as when he comes of age he will be the Lotus packs alpha. So we should also take a day with Rachel, David and Lilly as well."

Adaline started coughing as she was eating something when Sophia said that I was patting her back to get her to breath right again. "Excuse me what?" She definitely doesn't like the sound of that. "She is right Adaline". Rachel interjected, "you are older, you were always meant to run the pack. We technically are only temporary and as Barrett had Crescent, that means Sophia and Sebastians will be the alpha of Red Moon, yours and Barretts will be Crescents, so James gets Lotus." She was shaking her head furiously now "no, no,no, Lilly is older. You are an alpha, he isn't even a wolf." Joseph cleared his throat. "Adaline, this is the way it was always meant to be. You were to take over after you turned 18, meaning your children were the next in line. If anything, Lilly will take over for the two years James is in school, then most likely she will become his Beta or Gamma if she chooses. She is a little spit fire, so maybe she will take another course, but he is a wolf. With your blood there is no way he isn't. Around 13 he should start to hear his wolf, but I believe he already knows he is there. I also believe he knows who his mate is." He said while looking at Heather. That granted a growl from Sam "care to share Heather", I said, smirking at her. Her face paled as she realized something apparently Joseph and James both knew.

Adaline squealed a bit, "Heather, why didnt you tell me?!" She went over to Heather in a flash. "Wait, why didnt I know? not cool Selena." Sam dropped his fork. He was holding "holy s**t, I am pregnant." Heather was in more shock than the rest of us. "Breathe, Sam, breathe." Adaline was now trying to snap Sam out of it "f**k two under two" Heather was mumbling under her breath. I just started laughing out. So loudly "I'm sorry" I got out between fits of laughter "s**t just keeps getting messier and messier, but honestly, this is a blessing. Congratulations you two, plus you already know your son-in-law so that a win." I was crying from laughing so hard, but held up my glass and everyone else followed and shouted their congratulations. Heather cradled her tummy smiling and Sam grabbed James and hugged him tightly while James smiled back at him. What the hell is happening lately? I should be more worried, but I feel like the Moon Goddess is pushing me to enjoy the time I have right now and I am going to because who knows how long before s**t hits the fan.
