Chapter 33

Adaline's POV

After getting ready and heading back down, I noticed everyone outside waiting as the food was being cooked. James was being held by Barrett laughing about something and everyone seemed to have calmed and enjoying themselves. Barrett gave me a look of asking and I nodded. I'm still apprehensive about it, but it's his nature apparently and he will have a wolf one day anyways so best to get him comfortable and used to the process. He lifted James up. "Okay little man, you ready to play with Shaw?" James squealed and squirmed out of his grip "YES, can I right now?!" Barrett walked a little way away from the house towards the garden between the house and cabin out back. 5 seconds later Shaw was standing tall and walking back towards us. He walked up to me first and nudged my hand. I couldnt help but giggle as I patted his head.

"Momma!" Sawyer was squealing as Heather was on her way to the same spot Barrett shifted from as well as David. "Okay one was enough, are we really gonna have three large wolves running around?" I was more nervous now as I hadn't really met Heather's wolf yet and definitely not Davids. Sam walked over to Heather's wolf who sat and let him pet her. "This is Star." I could see why she was an all-dark brown wolf with a white star patch over her left eye. Rachel was by Davids, "as you know, this is Knight". He too, was a very pretty wolf, all black, as black as well night. He walked over to me and nuzzled me. Then he sat down. He at the moment was looking into my eyes with how big he was and bowed his head. I placed mine to his, forehead to forehead, and closed my eyes. It was weird. I could definitely feel a connection, not sure how though or what kind. He backed up and Shaw did not look too happy, but also I think he knew it didn't mean anything. I walked to him and snuggled into his neck. He was practically purring. He layed down and I put James on his back, despite how nervous I was.

Shaw stood up and started trotting around the back yard and James was giggling wildly. I saw Lilly on Knight and Sawyer on Star doing the same. They were just having a fun time all around. I may have taken around 100 pictures of them, I am not ashamed to admit. "I haven't seen this in some time. This brings back some amazing memories for me." My papa was standing by me now with his grill tongs in hand. "You mean I did this with my parents?" He laughed out "oh yes you used to judge them by how fast each was and would award them the winner. Who ever you thought ran faster with you." He looked lovingly at the kids and wolves in front of him, "who won usually?" He smirked, "Your father, of course, you were a daddy's girl through and through, but would fight in feircly for your mom, it would peeve Belle that you picked Steele because he was your dad but she also knew that the love you guys shared was different and was okay with it."

"Mommy, mommy look!" James was squealing as Shaw was running towards us. He stopped right in front of me. "Mommy take a picture!" I giggled and pulled out my phone. James grinned as big as he could and I swear I even saw Shaw smile. "Okay ya'll, as much as I love this play time out here dinner is ready, it is Adaline's favorite meal so be prepared to eat!" We gathered at the table and the three kids were pearched in the living room eating while watching cartoons. "Okay so we have top serloin marinated in a special rub, oven baked potatoes with all the fixings, corn on the cob, cheese brocoli, texas toast and something special for dessert. I noticed Holden staring at me in almost surprised amusement. "What?" He grinned and started to giggle, " Adaline, this" he said while flailing his arms around the table, "is your favorite meal, I mean I know there is a wolf in there, but damn I didnt think as a "mostly human" you could eat this much!" I was laughing now. "I know its a lot but wait until you try it and tell me its not your favorite too."

Everyone sat around the table enjoying the food and having a pleasant conversation. It was nice to have this, it felt good to have all this love in one room, even with people who I have just met. It also seemed like Barrett's family and mine got along amazingly. "Okay, so" I chimed in and everyone looked up at me "tomorrow we will travel to the Lotus pack. What exactly are we going to be doing?" Chloe smiled big "We are going to introduce you to the whole pack. You are essentially royalty. I mean you were the intended Alpha after all." I all but chocked on my wine. Barrett was patting my back. "Goddess Chloe, you need to calm down before I put you on cleaning duty." Rachel scolded her. Chloe looked mortified and angry at her sister. "Yes, we will be introducing you, but not until after your first shift. We will take a pack run after. However, yes, you were the intended Alpha, but the pack recognizes you as Luna to Creascent Blue Moon. FIRST" she said shooting daggers at her sister "we will get you comfortable and be doing some research on the shift, your older than most wolves and yours has been hidden away. Typically, you can start to talk to them before your 18th birthday but you weren't as lucky obviously." She finished. "We also will have a visiting pack, just the ranked members and some warriors. They are all of our allies but they cannot come until after you are fully shifted."

I think David felt my worry "dont worry Ad they are our allies through and through, but imperative they dont come until after. It is for everyone's safety, but I promise it is good that they come and you see and meet them." My papa stood up "Okay, enough business talk, now for the dessert. It was my wife's recipe but Ad, here has, perfected it. I am not too shabby though with making it." He walked off to the fridge and pulled out a lemon meringue pie. "Finally", Barrett sighed. I was chuckling at him, "What I have been waiting days for this and your scent just tortures me that I haven't had it yet." Papa placed a large piece in front of him. "Well then here you go, the biggest piece." We all sat in silence watching as he took the first bite he moaned loud "this is the best thing I've eaten in my life." We all laughed at him. Good times today, as tomorrow who knows what that brings? I'm nervous but ready to get all of the answers.
