Chapter 1.
Alice is 17, she has long dark blonde curly hair. Green eyes, although they were more pond water green than the emerald green her father had. She lived with her father and younger sister Lilly, her mum had died when Alice was 9 years old, something her dad never liked to speak about. She loved to read, in her mind nothing beat getting sucked into a book. A book where you imagine yourself as one of the characters, one day you're fighting a dragon the next day you're falling in love with a vampire. Through her books she lived an exciting life, she travelled the world and outer space, even going as far as countries that didn't even exist. She often dreamed (and daydreamed) about the stories in her books. ..... At that moment she found herself face to face with a huge silver wolf, eyes shining bright green. She backed away slowly, never breaking eye contact with the wolf until eventually her back hit a tree, the wolf started glowing, almost shimmering when she started to hear the beeping. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. Alice shut off her alarm groaning, she had been having these dreams for weeks now, always something different but always that wolf and she never got to see what happened after the glowing... She rolled herself out of bed and started getting ready for the day, shower, teeth, hair and a little bit of makeup. She grabbed her bag and went downstairs to her dad making her breakfast to go. She grabbed her bagel and gave her dad a kiss on the cheek as she ran out of the door to meet her friends at the end of the street for the short walk to school.  As she neared the corner she saw Summer and Esme waiting for her. She was the youngest of the trio but they had been inseparable since they were 4 years old. Summer was tall, she had short dirty blonde curls, eyes that told her mood, green when she was sad, blue when she was happy, when they were grey you knew to avoid her at all costs! Esme was about the same height as Alice, she had poker straight ice white hair and the brightest blue eyes Alice had ever seen. When she reached them they stopped talking, it felt as though they were hiding something from her, but for as long as Alice could remember they shared everything with each other it was how their friendship had lasted as long as it had. She decided to ignore it and ask if they were excited about the upcoming dance.  "That reminds me we need to go shopping this weekend, I can help you guys pick dresses!" Esme almost squealed. She was the fashionable one of the trio. She loved all things fashion and makeup.  Summer groaned before answering "I almost cannot wait!" Which was followed swiftly by an eye roll. The dance was the last one they would attend at this school before they all left, it was also the day after her 18th birthday. She was looking forward to going with her friends as a kind of last hurrah for them atGreenfield School. She knew arguing with Esme about dresses was a pointless exercise as she knew they'd both give in eventually, it was easier to just accept their fates.  School was an old red brick building, above the huge white double doors there was a clock with a white arch above it that simply said 'Greenfield'. It had a massive water fountain in front of it which Alice loved to sit and read at on breaks and even eat her lunch there. It was a protected building as it had been standing for so long. Once they got to their lockers they hugged and went their separate ways until lunch. The girls met at the water fountain once school was over. The walk home from school was always slower than the walk there as they caught up on school gossip and events. Plus as a bonus it was Friday! Which meant no alarm tomorrow, maybe Alice would finally see what happened when the wolf stopped shimmering and glowing. When she walked in her house her dad was no where to be seen, she spied a note on the fridge.  Alice,  Duty calls. Money on top of the fridge invite Summer and Esme over for a girls night and get pizza on me as an apology. I've not forgotten about the dance, I've transferred some money into your bank account for whatever you might need for it. Lilly is staying with the Allen's so don't worry about your sister. See you late Sunday evening. Love always, Dad xxx He did this a lot, disappeared for days at a time. She didn't know what her dad's job was, he told her it was a conversation they would have when she was older, it used to drive her mad not knowing until she realised he wouldn't give in so she gave up, he would speak to her when he was ready. She used to get sent over to the Allen's too until she got older and begged him to stay home, he let her try it once and realised she could be trusted and it has been this way ever since. She grabbed her phone from the back pocket of her jeans to call her friends. They were meeting early to go dress shopping anyway so they may as well use her house as base, plus she really really loved pizza.
