33 Captain’s Personal Log This is our fourth day at sea after leaving St. Helena. This is the most tedious part of the voyage for me. We're so near to our home port of Southampton on the south coast of England, only five days away, but our passengers are tetchy. I think they're so unhappy their once-in-a-lifetime holiday is coming to an end they take their misery out on us, the crew. There are ten times as many complaints in the last week as at any other time on the voyage. Tomorrow we'll be calling at Las Palmas, the capital of the Canary Islands and the largest city outside the European Union mainland. It's part of Spain, though hundreds of miles south in the Atlantic. Las Palmas is the last stop on our voyage. The last few days at sea will be filled with parties and public relations
