Gia’s POV
“Excuse me?!” Val looks at in shock. “What do you mean you think you’ve found your mate?”
“I don’t know!” I cry hard holding on to her. “I felt the mate bond and Stella swears he’s our mate, it was like he didn’t feel it towards us though.”
Val walks us over to my bed and sits us down.
“Okay start from the beginning. Tell me what happened.”
I explained everything, how we showed up, I felt really good during the interview. All the way up to when Alpha Nathan walked in and Stella declared him our mate. How intoxicating his scent was, how his touch sparked desire through me. Stella is purring away in my head as I’m explain it all.
“And he had no reaction at all?”
“Well…” I shift around uncomfortably.
“Well what?”
“When we were fight I did feel him underneath me and he was definitely packing some heat.” I blush.
“Girl, you are so lucky! Your mate is an alpha, successful business man, he’s sounds gorgeous, and he hung??”
“Okay but he doesn’t want me .” I feel tears threaten to spill again
“Stop it right now, you’re going back tomorrow right?”
“Yeah I guess so..”
“Okay we’ll find out more then. How are you going to get into town?”
“Good Question”
“You can just say you’re coming with me. I have to be at the high school tomorrow anyways to start planning the school year.” Val graduated last year. This will be her first year teaching at the public school in the city. She hopes that soon she’ll be able to teach at the private school here in our pack.
I hear the door open. “Girls! Help mama carrying in the groceries.” Pops yells
We get up and each give pops a kiss on the cheek as we make our way out to the car. It’s always been harder for us to get supplies here since no one can find the place unless invited.
After we get everything inside, Val excuses herself to shower and mama is cooking dinner. Uncle Benny and I are sitting in the living room watching a movie.
“How did you appointment go?”
“Oh, it was fine. I have another appointment next week. I’m just supposed to record everything for Dr. Cain.” Which is going to be hard since I don’t really have migraines, well aside from today.
“Dr. Cain? You are only supposed to see Greg.”
“Greg said something about scheduling being messed up.”
“Your parents are not going to be happy about that.”
I excuse myself to go help Aunt Lilly.
I walk in the kitchen and she’s cutting vegetables. I grab a knife and join in.
“Mama, when you met pop, how did you know he was your mate?”
“We grew up together. Him and your father were best friends. Once I turned 18, we were all in the castle and I could smell him. I knew it was him, so I ran around until I found him downstairs playing basketball with your father. It was history from there. Been together ever since.”
It’s always weird to hear stories about my father. The man I have known would never be playing basketball.
“Have you ever heard of a mate not feeling the mate bond?”
“No. Only rejecting their mate. What’s with the questions? Have you found your mate?”
“ I don’t know. I thought so but he didn’t seem to react the way everyone talks.”
“Well who is it? You know Pop and I will want to have a talk with this man.”
I can’t tell her. Not yet. “I’ll tell you when I know for sure. I don’t want to get ahead of myself.”
Mama seems to take the hint. The rest of the night seems to go by quickly. We had a nice dinner with everyone. It doesn’t always happen since I leave for trainings often for months at a time. Uncle Benny service on my fathers panel even though he’s not a beta or gamma. Aunt Lilly helps my mother with her Luna duties since she’s also an alpha by blood and has the royal blood line.
Both my parents stopped by to see how my appointment went. Like my uncle said, my father was not pleased to find the switch in doctors and said he would be talking to Greg immediately. They gave me permission to go into the city tomorrow, they just don’t know it’s so I can go to my job.
I spent the night thinking and dreaming of blue green eyes and strong hands. I pray to the moon goddess tomorrow is better than today.
